    Great lesson!
Quite often, we don't want a long response when we ask people how they are. "How are you" is bordering on the rhetorical and as for being an English pleasantry, it is a fully signed-up member.

Hello! I’m currently learning English (and I have recently started learning Spanish as well). I’ve been watching UA-cam videos almost exclusively in English (and Spanish) for more than half a year.
One of the challenging things about writing a sentence in English is to choose the correct prepositions. For example, I’m not sure which preposition I should put before “the comment sections”. Should I say “It’s fun to read comments on the comment sections of UA-cam videos”? Or “in” the comment sections?
Anyway, I was “delighted” when I found this channel this morning. Thank you, from Tokyo.😊

    Dear Anna!
Thank you very much for such wonderful videos! I and all my family really like them and always watch them with a great interest. Be sure, at least six people in Russia regularly watch your videos and they are very happy to have such an amazing English teacher.
We congratulate you with the past celebration of Christmas and New Year! We wish all your dreams come true! Have a good health and a good mood! Enjoy your time with your family and friends! And because the New Year is the year of the Tiger, I would like to tell you about one of my favorite English poems. It’s “The Tyger” by William Blake. I recommend you to read it, if you don’t know it yet. And I dare to ask you: please, could you make a video with reading the poem out loud nicely, as you read the story about the Great Fire of London? You have a really beautiful voice and a great actor talent.
Also, you know, there is a Soviet film adaptation for a series of books about Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Lots of people in Russia really like it. The adaptation was translated in English and now it’s popular for English people to comment the movie. Recently, a Russian-speaking Englishman told his opinion about the film and some facts from it about England, which were not correctly shown. Maybe, you can watch this interesting film with English subtitles and make the same video, but in English? It could be a great present for your Russian-speaking auditorium.
    All the best,
    Daria G., eleven years old.

I use fine when I am talking to strangers because I find that strangers do not actually care if you are fine or not they expect you to say you are fine.
There is a great scene in Heroes which illustrates my point nicely. In that scene you have Matt one of the main character who has the power to read minds, he goes into a bar after a bust up with his wife and the bartender asks him how he is doing, Matt is about to go on a rant on how things are not going well, etc thinking that bartender really wants to know then his powers kick in and he hears the bartenders thought who actually has a fake smile on his face but is actually thinking "that was a rhetorical question just say you fine and order a drink" so Matt change in mid-sentence and replies he is fine. I have timestamped the scene.
    ua-cam.com/video/56l8xLvRcVU/v-deo.html
Now you do not have to be a mind reader to know that strangers really do not care how you feel. I have being in a bar and seen the look on a bartender face when he once asked a guy a question about how he was and the guy started going on a rant, you could see the look on her face that she just wanted to get away. In my opinion you have to learn to read the room.
