I did play catch with my Father as a child but it all came to an end when he died two days after my fourteenth birthday, I never got to say those things to my Dad that I would have liked to have said as a man. Every time I watch Field Of Dreams the tears flow as I think about all those things I would have said to my Dad, my Pops, my Father, my Friend, and my Buddy. I'm seventy now but I still remember the Man who would have done anything for me, his son, his buddy.
Field of dreams, my favorite, then dances with wolves, now Yellowstone, that shows the world God created, the heritage of the American Indian, what a beautiful idea. None of these movies could ever be redone. Nobody could ever touch these. Can anyone else wait to here, Buddy!!!!. The whole cast. Kevin is a amazing actor with a beautiful heart. Keep up the good work.
One of Kevin Costner best movies. I loved this movie from the first set. I have watched it about 100 times now. I loved it I guess the most because I wish it was my father and I playing catch. My father didn’t like baseball and out of all the years I played the game he only came to one game and my mother had to make him. Now my mother came to a few games over the years cause she is the one I got my love for hardball. I remember for years my mother and me would watch every game on tv of the Cincinnati Reds. She knew my life long dream was to play Major League Baseball and the only team I would play for was the Big Red Machine. I can to this day remember after almost 50 years watching the Cincinnati Reds win back to back World Series in 1975 and 1976. The last night my mother was alive I talked to her about almost every game we watched together. Even tho she was in a semi coma I knew she listened to every word I said because I could see the tears coming out of her eyes. I believe watching them games was the happiness in her life and mine. RIP mom and dad. Love you both and never a day goes by I don’t look to heaven and say I love you. You both are truly missed.
My dad and I played pro ball and before he died we made a trip to Dyersville and played catch in the outfield. Best time of my life with my Dad. We’ll do it again when God calls me home.
I was traveling for work before the pandemic and ran into Kevin Costner at a Marriott hotel in Massachusetts. I went up and talked to him as he was about to check out of the hotel. He was super nice and asked what I did. I was so nervous I forgot all the movies he was in haha but he was so cool and nice. One of the times where it worked out to meet one of your heroes. Thank you Kevin Costner!! You’re awesome!
Kevin Costner. A gentleman , a prince among the predators and moguls and spoiled brats pretending to be adults in Hollyweird. My favorite actor hands down.
Mr Costner is always the consummate gentleman. He shares the stage with any other actor. The fact that he would take the time to play catch with the grown men and solidify another memorable moment tells you the deep well of generosity in his heart. But that Kevin!
I'm a woman, and this is my favorite movie, for so many reasons, including it's stunning truth about father/son relationships. I know so many sons and fathers who have difficulty expressing how much they love eachother. This is a healing for them, and for all of us who love fathers, sons, husbands, and brothers. ❤
I went to to see Field of Dreams with my husband. I thought it was one of the best movies Kevin had ever made...We case to sponsor a soft ball team an all I could think of was my husband and son practicing before each gsme..It still brings tears to my eyes!!!Thank you Kevin for making this movie..Your the BEST,LOVE PATTY FUSCO/MONTEFUSCO❤❤❤❤
I wanted to go there with my dad. He was a baseball player. A real good one. Signed with the Red Sox but got injured in the offseason. I idolized my dad. We loved the movie. I was a kid when it came out. I lost him last year. I just realized that we won’t be able to go now. Sitting here, in his rocking chair, I can’t believe he’s gone. What a trip it would have been. I just wanted to have a catch one more time. Would have been so nice. I love you dad.
The first time I saw the movie I thought it was the dumbest movie I have ever watched, I was playing baseball in college, a pitcher none the less. I was playing catch with my Dad all the time. The second time I watched it, my dad had long passed, I cried like a baby. I have to get to that field one day.

I live in NM. Been there 3 times now on my way back to Ohio where my 98 year old dad lives and a huge baseball fan his whole life. He even played during WWII on a team in Virginia before being shipped to Germany. The last time I visited I took my Dad on our way back to Ohio from Omaha. He had no clue where we were headed. Told him we were taking a back road on the way to Chicago. The day we pulled into the field there were 100’s of people there. Caught me off guard but it was “reenactment day” with the Black Sox playing a game. One of the best memories I will ever have being there with him. The only thing I regret we couldn’t walk out onto the field so could take a picture of him walking out of the corn. Wished I could have thrown the hardball one more time with him.

There are a few movies that you watch more than once and you enjoy it almost as much as the first time. This is one of them. This movie will stand the test of time.

It is very comforting that this ball field still exists. I'll almost certainly never go there, but knowing it is still there, and that dads and sons and daughters are still playing catch, brings a degree of balance to this oftentimes hard world.
I believe that a place... once it begins to mean so much to people, it begins to store a lot of energy within it. That field means a lot to people and I believe it has accumulated a lot of this emotional energy. There is an energy there... I know it. And I want to go there some day.
i was lucky enough to go there 2021, Im from Australia but managed to fit a trip there. Its a fantastic place. it should never be removed, it is heaven literally.
I’m so glad Costner suggested to them to save the field and that they did keep it. Seeing all those kids playing on it with their parents, is fantastic! Kevin Costner is so cool. To toss ball with 30 guys, he created a memories that those guys will never forget: They tossed ball with Kevin Costner, on the Field of Dreams!
Field of Dreams is the perfect movie. How many films inspire, transform, uplift, and energize? More to the point, how many films open the heart? This one does!
God inspired me to look this movie up again. He is talking to me through it right now. May God bless you and help you believe the messages this movie sends you. This is one major point I got from it--If I build it, they will come, and He will come. Thank you Lord.
Not only was the music in this film so special, but they don’t make music in films like that anymore which I think gives it an incredibly special sound
30 Years This Year! - First saw it as a 7 year old, now taking my 7 year old son to see it when they re-release it during Father's day weekend. Movie never gets old.
I lived a year near Dyersville, IA. There is also one of most beautiful Basilicas in the country there (St. Francis Xavier), and I always thought that the Basilica inspired the line, "Build it and they will come." As there is no reason such a small town should build such a huge and magnificent Basilica, except--Build it and they will come. This movie was made the year after I moved away. The movie is great because it opens the completely mundane and natural to the supernatural, and makes faith real.
This movie has been a part of my family's life for decades. My son is all grown now with a career in the Navy and I only get to see him couple of times a year but he always has his baseball glove with him when he comes home to have a catch with his dad.
@@curtisbrown8851 Oh, you're very welcome, Curt. You know, men or women, for a LOT of us, this movie says something to us. I've only got a small USPS box with the DVD movies I treasure. This one is in that box.🤩
I absolutely loved this movie. Listening to Kevin Costner talking about the movie, and his connection with his farther, makes me wish I had done a lot more with my dad. The final scene when Kevin says to his dad . ‘You want to have a catch, brings a tear to my eyes.
I've always loved this great film. My dad loved baseball, and so do I. I always cry at the last five minutes, but it's a healthy cry. I imagine playing catch with my dad in our own corner of heaven.
I knew the first time I saw this movie that it was special and stayed with me. I bet I’ve seen this movie at least 10 plus times and never get tired of it. Thanks for making this great movie!
All of the key components that made up this great movie are the same ones that made America great - family, persistence, courage, dreams, hope, and, the great game of baseball in its purist form. This movie has a magical feel to it that grabs you and never wants to let go. I never let a summer go by without watching it.
I so loved this movie as my daddy did as well. You are both great at actor. Love them both ❣️. But Kevin costner has a little something else he does as be a great musician and singer. Amazing voice Kevin. You are loved by your fans and you deserve it. WOODY the 2 best movies you are in. Played a great an cool movie.woody I loved you in cheers. Where everyone knows your name. Natural born killers you played a perfect actor.❤️📽️🎥🎞️😊💕🎤🎧🎵🎶🎶🎸🎙️🎙️🎙️🙏🏻🙏🏻💕
3:30 When Kevin is asked by the interviewer to choose one or two of his most touching encounters with fans who have been moved by the film Field of Dreams, and Kevin says that those anecdotes shared by fans of the film are each of equal value and weight, and then shares the story of a man who watched Field of Dreams repeatedly with his dying father and who thanked Kevin for this time he shared with his Dad... Costner is a good man, and this wonderful film still affects me each time I hear that line 'Dad, do you want to play catch?'
Kevin Costner is such a great actor and has touched my heart in many of his films. If I could personally hug him and just say "thank you, man. You have no idea the amount of joy you've given me", It would be great.
This film is the only one out of everything i have seen in the last 48 yrs of my life, that brings a smile to my face and makes me cry as it reminds me of the time I had with my grandad.
It isn't. Not any one stadium. The stadiums are grand monuments to the game, and continue that wonderful tradition we so love. But this field. We all grew up here.
Huge mistake for rushing plans to build new Stadium, just to up stage the Mets. The field was sacred ground. Losing the field that Ruth, Gehrig, Dimaggio, Berra, Mantle, Ford, Munson, Jackson, Guidry, Mattingly, Jeter, Riveria. (Too many to list all the great players) was even a worse decision of tearing down the old Penn Station.
A Friend Of Mine Who Sadly Passed Away In 2012 Loved This Film Because He Was Estranged From His Son This Movie Helped Get Him In Contact With Son And Got So Teary At The Scene Where Ray Plays Catch With His Father! Frank Always Used To Say The Movie Was About The Relationship Between A Father And His Son But I Tend To Think Of The Film's Main Message About Giving A Second Chance To Pursue Your Dreams!🤗⚾👨👴
I've infused "If we build it, they will come" into every volunteer project I've supported since I saw thia movie. I'm grateful for the storyline.. its way beyond baseball, its a permanent influencer.
The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come.
It is obvious that Kevin Costner has played some baseball from the way he catches the ball, in Field of Dreams, Bull Durham and For Love of the Game. He just puts his glove out and the ball just sticks. So casual and smooth, really good to watch.
5:18 Costner actually throwing to his movie dad.. so cool to do it 25 years later. How cool is that to be the actor who plays Costner's young dad. He'll always be remembered.
@@Hithere-ek4qt What are you so afraid of? I'm agnostic, bordering very close to being atheist, and it would never occur to me to feel the need to shit on folks like that. You are so terribly afraid you are wrong but your hubris overpowers you. Scared to death of something you swear in the same breath isn't real. Pathetically weak.
25 years later? 33 years later, The New York Yankees and the Chicago White Sox played there last night. And there is a contract to play another game there next year. It was an awesome game.
This interview by Bob Costas of Kevin Costner and Timothy Busfield really shows what a couple of really nice guys Costner and Busfield are. They don't seem to have massive egos which is really quite refreshing to see in a couple of famous actors.
This is the best movie of all time. Second to none. I dream of playing catch with my dad there. I read the book...then went to the theater to watch...magical.
Been there twice, one time last September. Barely made it before they closed the parking area. It was cold, misting, nearly dark and my wife and I were the only ones there. I walked out to the corn, looked back at the field and cried. I was 64 that day and gazed at a baseball field, standing in between rows of corn and cried. I doubt any movie past or future will have that effect on myself or any other father or son. My Dad had passed the April before this movie was released. When Kevin Costner says "Dad", I lose it everytime.
Being an English baseball fan can be pretty lonely, vids like this make me realise what a wonderful game it is, and despite not having many fans around me, I made a good choice of favourite sport. Thank you.
My cousin got up at his Dad's funeral to mention how his father would come home from farming, tired and hot but would stop and play catch with his son if asked to do so. My cousin never forgot that a simple act that can cover a multitude of sins so to speak and created a memory never to be forgotten of bonding and love. All Dads should play catch, if if badly, and make memories and a legacy.
Less than a year after I saw this movie, I found myself at the field. I spent 3 days there. Got to meet a lot of people and found out some cool stuff about the movie. I've never felt that good in my life.
Of course I’m glad the field still exists today, and happy to have watched the game last night, but a little part of me was disappointed in the changes made to field. The original field reminded me so much of my days as a kid, when my friends and I played baseball on fields that looked so much like the original one. The older lighting, the sparse bleacher seats, the old backstop etc...I just feel the modernization of it lost a little of those special memories. I did feel a little bit of that nostalgia last night when Tim Anderson hit the walk off home run, maybe you know this, but guess who was the first White Sox player to hit a walk off HR against the Yankees.........that’s right......shoeless Joe Jackson.
I like to watch this movie because it fills my home with a certain atmosphere, nostalgic and comforting. I usually like to watch this film in the warmer months of the year when the day is hot and sunny. It's one of those films that I might come across while channel surfing and if I see its on but I'm not quite in the mood to watch it, I leave it on while I continue with daily choirs. I like hearing the music and dialogue in the background as I go about shuffling through my home. What a really heart warming movie this is. I understand why it means so much to people.
my favorite movie of all time......it's got a little of everything.....the "supernatural" vibe still gives me goosebumps in certain parts of the film....."HI...i'm Archie Graham....i play baseball"...
i don't follow baseball at all, but this movie gets me every time. I lost my dad a few years ago. I have no regrets, as we were very close, but man, this movie is America incarnate. Thanks for your work Kevin.
About 10 years ago I brought my glove to this sacred place. It was great! I have had innumerable "memory" catches with my dad over the years - never without choking up.
I'm not a baseball fan, but I loved the story in this movie. And I can relate to the father son issues. I'm glad this field is still there. And father's, son's, daughters are making memories here. I can watch this movie 20 more times. I checked in on this video 7/31/20.
Costner always the promoter, always a little over the top on melodrama, but I must admit this movie was exceptional, so thank you Mr. Costner for that!
Being English Baseball isnt one of our games but the movie is universal. You can change the game country location and the story is still relevant. Its a great film. Rip Ray Liota
My former boss when he heard about a vacation i was gonna take a few years ago suggested this. Turns out it was right on the way from one point to another. My whole family had a very good time on this lil stop. Very much worth the time!!!
For Love of the Game makes it a trifecta. Three of the best movies about baseball and the way that sport is woven into our American psyche. The Natural is another great movie.
Much ❤❤❤ and Respect for Kevin Costner. I admire him for his passion for the movie and for the Field of Dreams site to stay the way it is. He's such a classy gentleman.
I have been a Yankee fan since I was a kid. Going to the Baseball Hall of Fame was like being in church. Watching Field of Dreams so many times and the scene with James Earl Jones always makes me cry. I think about my heroes. Mantle and Marris Joe Pepetone Thurmond Munson and all the other Yankee greats."people will come because it's money they have and peace they lack"
This still is my #1 favorite movie, I first watched it at age 13 and still enjoy it at age 44. I think baseball is a timeless sport that brings out the passion in people of all ages.
What a wonderful person Kevin Costner is....down to earth and humble....the essential American ...........Remember the movie as if it were yesterday....wonderful
As a kid, more than 30 years ago, my dad and my older brother would bond over sports, they would talk baseball and football. Me, I didn’t like sports, I didn’t get it. There was little if any common ground that me and my father (who was a Sunday father, my brother and I were raised by our mother, they divorced when I was like 3) could find. In 1990, when I was eleven, I saw Field of Dreams and was moved. And I got it, baseball I mean. Almost simultaneously, it was announced that my home state of Colorado would get its own MLB team (who wouldn’t actually play until three years later, the Colorado Rockies, my team). I fell and hard for baseball, for it’s beauty, simple complexity, it’s history and just how American it all felt. It was, and remains today the only sport I love, and I when I say I love it, I truly adore it. It became something me and my father could talk about, bond over. I loved hearing about his childhood, growing up in the ‘40s and ‘50s in Cincinnati, cheering on the Reds. He taught me how to bat, throw (I had and have a noodle for an arm, unfortunately) the rules of the game. He and I would play catch. My father, brother and I would go to minor league and then years later major league games and we’d all exercise our love for this game. Today I’m 40 and my dad is 78. Every time I see him, we occasionally talk about politics (we’re both politically aligned) but mostly, even here in the off season, we talk baseball. During the season we sometimes go to a Rockies game or two. Finding common ground with my dad where there wasn’t really any before has meant everything. I owe much of it to this movie. And the world’s most beautiful game. PS I haven’t had a catch with my dad in almost 19 years. He’s still here, there’s still time, I hope.
RIP Ray Liotta. Loved your work.
Kevin Costner- a class act.

This movie has been a part of my family's life for decades. My son is all grown now with a career in the Navy and I only get to see him couple of times a year but he always has his baseball glove with him when he comes home to have a catch with his dad.
That's REALLY cool!!!!!
Thank you Rob, Very Humbling.
I got to say I don't go to the movies ,But this is one of my 5 best films I like, The actors seem almost like they are the people the play.Great.
I never connected with my father and this movie made me cry harder than any actual drama movie in my entire life
I knew the first time I saw this movie that it was special and stayed with me.
Very well said
Field of dreams will always hit home.
Dad, I love you. One more game of catch would be amazing.

Isn’t that the heartbreaking truth? Praying for you.
I cry every time. Of course I'm already so moved by the Terrance Mann soliloquy by that point...
@@andyfletcher3561 I watched Field of Dreams again two nights ago, and I was in tears again watching it. It really is such a wonderful film.
Costner is right, its not yankee stadium, its bigger than that.
The new yankee stadium is not the same!
@@ricomajestic True, it's a mall pretending to be a baseball stadium
@@rcslyman8929 you're right.
Field of Dreams is a monument to our hearts.
Dances With Wolves -- needs to be on any best Costner movie list.
I've infused "If we build it, they will come" into every volunteer project I've supported since I saw thia movie. I'm grateful for the storyline.. its way beyond baseball, its a permanent influencer.
"If you build it...HE will come."***
It sounds so cliche’ but if we put it into use in our lives it works!!!
When Kevin is playing catch while talking to Costas, the guy he is playing catch with is the guy who played his dad in the film.
✝️👀
That's Dwier Brown. I was a little shocked there was no mention of him by Costas, considering he was a big part driving that tear-jerking final scene.
You're right. How did you know?
I have the feeling this has been heavily edited after it aired. Enjoyed watching it after last night's F.o.D. game.
.
Life imitating art. In the movie, Terence Mann says that people will come to the field... and here they are in real life.
I was thinking the same thing
@@Peanutdenver Thank you , Thunder Chicken ! God bless us one and all
@@Peanutdenver And they did
Much respect for Mr. Costner.
Love the movie.
Count your blessings if you’ve had a great Dad and been able to tell him how much you love him.
It is obvious that Kevin Costner has played some baseball from the way he catches the ball, in Field of Dreams, Bull Durham and For Love of the Game. He just puts his glove out and the ball just sticks. So casual and smooth, really good to watch.
Saw someone wrote that he played catcher in college.
@@clevelandcbi only played in hs. But Kurt Russell played minor league ball. Also Robert Redford and Billy Crystal played in college.
KEVIN COSTNER is a PURE CLASS AMERICAN
Last night's REAL game, "field of Dreams" brought me here. Costner is a dude. Look how natural he is playing catch.
Gotta get rid of the soul patch. Just not ever a good look.
5:18 Costner actually throwing to his movie dad.. so cool to do it 25 years later. How cool is that to be the actor who plays Costner's young dad. He'll always be remembered.

Ive watched this film dozens of times and still love it ... whenever I need to see a feel good film its this one
Thank you.
My favourite film ever....truly unique and magical.
David Illingsworth mine also .
True movie magic. Very rare.
Have you ever seen Bigfoot?
Thanks for this movie. Really thankful for this piece of art. Baseball, the one thing that has endured.
My favorite Americans feel good movie of all time! Love it and love my country. 🇺🇸🥰😎🤩👍
Kevin was a extremely good ball player in his teens. Believe he was scouted when he was younger.
Wrong.
rocknroller 77 Good to know. I didn’t know that. Thank you.
I think I’ve seen this movie years ago. But I need to go back and try and find it again and watch it!
Good high school player, didn’t play in college or minors
@@warrengrinnell7663 went to CSUF though so he was around great college players lol.
And now they’re playing on the field of dreams today
Classic forever
That story at the end about playing catch with all the guys who were watching him just sums up what a great genuine man Costner is
Great movie. Score makes it legendary.
Scott C You can thank the late, great James Horner for the amazing score.
Actors dream of a movie that becomes a legacy. Few see it.
i don't follow baseball at all, but this movie gets me every time. I lost my dad a few years ago. I have no regrets, as we were very close, but man, this movie is America incarnate. Thanks for your work Kevin.
They built it and then they really did come and they’re still coming, one of my fav movies
It's a very universal story really. Just all the more special for those of us who do love baseball.
Costner always the promoter, always a little over the top on melodrama, but I must admit this movie was exceptional, so thank you Mr. Costner for that!
Texas! Heck yeah!
This is what makes Kevin Costner a "Star"!!
the moment Kevin Costner
asks his Dad to play catch
i cried...
Me too!
Me as well. Best movie ever
Still one of my favorite movies.🤩
Field of Dreams & Bull Durham, those alone are a career. He must be proud.
He had another great baseball movie that needs to be added to your list. "For Love of the Game"
For Love of the Game makes it a trifecta. Three of the best movies about baseball and the way that sport is woven into our American psyche. The Natural is another great movie.
'long gone' a hbo movie is much better than bull durham----if you see it you will agree
For the Love of the Game was really well done, as well.
Much ❤❤❤ and Respect for Kevin Costner. I admire him for his passion for the movie and for the Field of Dreams site to stay the way it is. He's such a classy gentleman.
I like the line from Joe to Moonlight," You were good".
`Hey rookie`.

Terrance Mann's soliloquy, through James Earl Jones' voice, I see America. What we are supposed to be.
This movie is amazing
30 years later here we are! Loving the game!
