Who knew I secretly owned a P1?!
nice bike, needs a new chain though :)
Make do and mend. Always satisfying seeing new life breathed into old possessions!
Going to get a cheap rear brake and some headset bearings from the bike shop tomorrow then go for a ride 😎.
I never thought I would watch a bike cleaning video, but you made it very enjoyable Joe, very well done! 🤩🤝🏻😎
I never thought I’d make one but here we are!
Hello Hypnotizin any new video to come out?
@@ilikechickensausages2075 - Hello my Friend, thanks very much for thinking of me, it’s very kind of you. No, unfortunately nothing is coming out… and I think I will give up on the videos and the channel itself; at the moment I feel that we won’t make any more videos. 😊☹️
@@HypnotizinDetailz That's a shame but can understand it takes a lot of time and effort and if your not seeing any return on the hard work it can take it's toll. Anyway mate all the best for the future.
@@ilikechickensausages2075 - Exactly… Basically this is what happened - you explained/felt it quite well my Friend. Thanks very much for all your kind words, support and understanding during these years, since the beginning of my channel! 🤩🙏🏻
I might get the spark back, we never know, so I can’t say that for sure this is definitely the end… But I want to enjoy what I am doing, and making videos is unfortunately absolutely upstream for me now. Wishing you all the very best my Friend, see you… around here! 😉🤜🏻💥🤛🏻😎
Good job, nothing like a bit of variety!!
There's something about your older videos that just draw people to watch, and in my case rewatch several times over. No background music, slower relaxing pace of narration and of course the wordsmithery. Anyway, I like the variation!
Yeah there was something so relaxing about watching the guru do his thing in the old videos, nowadays it’s all product pushing and too much talking. I enjoyed watching high end cars getting detailed, not sure why that stopped
@@VARADAMODUBLIN You see i'm the opposite .i prefer more normal cars . i'm sick to death of super/hyper cars... just not as interesting .
Love it! Do a childs power wheel or a childs Little Tikes Cozy coupe next!
And now I know its the detailing I like, not just the cars
If you are riding on UK roads a wet lube like Muc Off for chains is best, if you are off roading in dusty places a dry lube. Wd40 will attract more grime to it than a lube.
I also had a P1, just not sure if it was the same year. also putting a dual crown fork on a dirt jump frame is like swapping a V12 into a ford fiesta
I know haha it was like that when I bought it honestly!
You may want to consider adding handlebar ends, keeps you hands from slipping off each end. Just make sure they are on nice and tight. I wrap mine with grippy anti-slip tape. Cheers!
Nice vid guru
Brilliant video Guru as always! Love the honesty ❤
Absolutely love this, keep up the unique quality content
downhill fork on a hardtail :o
I dig the different video!
Haha I think a young lad had it before me so went a bit mad modding it!
I would say it's worth keeping. Other than aesthetically, dirt jumpers haven't really changed. A fork rebuild or a second hand modern set wouldn't go a miss though I reckon. Would really lighten up the bike a bit over the old boxers too
That one brought back a few memories 😂😂👍
Great alternative video there Joe.
Sweet P1 you got there!
Had a P3 as my first bike and loved that thing. Also love the bomber on there, mustbe a fun ride!
Also very interesting seeing you clean a bike, as it's part of my work as a bike mechanic.
I don’t profess to be a pro bike cleaner, just having a go on my own beater!
@@CarCleaningGuru You did a better job than I ever do 😂
Just a small heads up on the cain lube, spare the cogs and just add it to the inner part of the chain. Makes it easier to clean next time round and works just as good.
Thoroughly enjoyed that.
You did an awesome job! Happy riding!
Awesome. Enjoyed every minute of it.
Looks good! A proper throw back especially with those Tioga tyres.
I’d certainly get it back up working again. Especially as the evenings are getting longer and weather is getting nicer.
Make you feel 16 again bombing around on it for half hour in the evening 🚴
Looks great 👍
Cracking Job that mate , really enjoyed the vid 👍
Damn thats a nice bike....It might be old but still nice.
It would've been all the rage in high school
That's a classic with some real nice parts fitted, hope brake and monkey bars with marzocci bombers. Quality mate
Definitely restore it! And more bike content!
First thoughts, how is he going to get twenty two minutes and twenty six seconds out of this. But you did, and I found it as enjoyable as the four wheel ones. Nice mid week treat 🤙
Cool video!
Great video. Nice change. Great idea.
Nice
Loved the video. ❤
awesome episode! inspired to get my Cannondale out the shed and scrub my knobbles
Always liked Cannondales. Saw Missy Giove at ‘Bike 98’ exhibiting her pro knobbles.
Love this something different 🎉
Well done joe another great video even though it's provided by leg power thoroughly enjoyable...👍🏻😎
That's the cleanest hardtail in the woods no doubt..😎👍
Great video pal. I’ve still got my’92 Orange from back in the day 👌🏻
Carbon Yeti aside, I think an Orange would be my ideal dog poo-hopper 😎.
Satisfying to see dirty bikes and cars getting cleaned , nice classic bike ,I still have my green rockhopper comp !
Great video
"Went ahead and gave my knobbles a good scrub"
You knew exactly why you added that part 😭
Have you tried chrome north west products they mainly aim for folk who detail or look after trucks its mainly available in trucks tops or some motorway forecourts...its worth a review I use it on my car and truck they do the full range of cleaning stuff I recommend the pink
Great job ... nice bike.
being a bike anorak, that's proper old school that
This makes me wanna fix my old mountain bike. Last rode it 10 years ago
Simple Green, Pledge and Finish Line Dry Lube are the only products you need.
@Car Cleaning Guru
Is the rear hub non-drive side set up for a brake disc? If so, I'd say that you should source a new (or gently used) brake setup for the rear, install the brake components and sell it on since it isn't the right size for you.
Man I had a P2 around 2005, brings bac memories. My first pay cheque ever for £700 bought it. Got stolen a few weeks later.
About time🎉
P1!!! Bloody great bike...
Nice video! I'd say keep it, EXCEPT for the fact it's undersized, that makes it really inefficient to ride, so might be time to pass it off to a local middle schooler 😉
Didn't know Autobrite did bike cleaning tackle. Suspect I will be making use of the discount code soon.
YES!!! FIX IT!!!!
That chain oiling process.. killed me..
I also never ride while unlubed, dry and crusty Good tip!
My Idea would be that you fix it up, and since it's to small for you hand it out to charity or some kid from the block who maybe could use it. Would be awesome to make a kid smile I think 👍🏻
Came up a treat,I find Automotive engine degreaser a better option for cleaning bike chains,Spray it on night before let it soak, as these dedicated sprays made for the job from these companies who produce numerous products tend to not really have the ooompfff to break down the old thick tar like oil on the chain :) Super nice bike though im always looking for little things to upgrade on my 2016 Cube Analog MTB 29" Er,Its VERY high mileage now though as i use it daily,Still going strong other than a few age related niggles (Bit like us all) haha :)
Send it mate
RIP all those bearings 😅
That glove looks like someone chopped a Telletubbies hand off!
Nice bike, ideal for hopping over the dog turds on the Wirral way.
Horse turds there!
how do you store all the stuff you have; I would love to see a video of your tools and favorite tools that you use. I find it hard to store my car cleaning tools. tips would be awesome.
Shitty little utility room 🤷♂️. In terms of storage of individual bits in what bags etc, I’ve done a couple of vids in this in the past.
That’s actually a pretty sweet bike. It’s in great condition so shouldn’t be at the back of the shed ! 🤣🤣😝✌️
Especially with dressed tyres!
Do you have a Klaus Kinski as Count Dracula tattoo on your left forearm?
The Master, Salem’s Lot. Similar Nosferatu-inspired vampire.
@@CarCleaningGuru Looks sick AF to me anyway!
Nice job. I have to point out though that WD-40 is a fantastic water displacer but is not a good lubricant. A silicone based spray would be better, but better still, a good dedicated chain lube like fenwicks is my go to.
No this was a dedicated chain lube made by them but for motorcycles so it’s all thick and sticky.
@@CarCleaningGuru ahhh. Happy days. All I clocked was the WD-40 😂
Once you'd finished and from over 5 feet away it looked brand new I reckon :)
Can you detail your oven next please? That's a git to clean.
There’s a special man in a van around here for that!
And I thought I was a wool. And I'm from Skem 🤪
Be careful with pointing the pressure washer at bearings
Half of them had already gone from the headset here but yeh on a newer or more well kept bike take it easy.
Mid 2000's bike jelousy!
Yeah, gotta make sure you clean and scrub your knobbles properly for maximum performance going uphill and downhill.
Exactly.
i own old giant stp 1 from 2008 similar to p1 ,they dont make good bikes as before
Oh damn bike content, you love to see it
If you want to start getting out regularly and racking up the miles, I'd invest your coin in a newer model.
Current design and geometry is far superior to 90s stuff - particularly for us tall lads !
But would be great if you had space to keep that too, such a classic !
You'll find a youngster in the neighbourhood who would love to have that bike.
Buy a new one and give it to a local kid.
I deffo will when I can afford a new one. Whoever gives it the longest glance gets it!
From my experience. When you get old you will wish you kept it.
True. I’ll either keep it if I have space or give it away if/when I buy a new one.
nice to meet you. I always look forward to it.
The MTB car wash was so amazing. I own several MTBs. This video is the video I've been waiting for!
Thank you for your wonderful videos.
You ever thought of a full ceramic coating for a bike
Yes for a newer or more well kept bike although PPF is probably a better choice overall.
Cleaning my bicycle feels more relaxed than cleaning my car.
The tick tick tick of the cassette.
As you have a stand it’s easier to remove the wheels to clean them. I would also have taken the chain off and fitted a new one. Cringed a bit with the pressure washer, even on low setting.
I don’t think I’ll use the stand again it was a pain in the arse, prefer to just turn upside down and remove the wheels that way. Deffo needs a new chain but I can’t afford to spend too much on it for the sake of a video that will likely only generate £50 🤷♂️
BH Surfex at 1:1 ratio will clean any component on any bike. And strip components of vital grease..... Whoops.
👍🚴♂️
Fix it n go off road 😊
12:14… adjust the speed to high.. and turn it on… 😁😁😁 thank me later.
Future classic maybe, things have moved on so much it would be more cost effective to buy a modern used bike for £1500. I cringed a little when you blasted the rear sprocket with wd40, It's as bad as using a sponge to clean a car 😂.
Sooo i buy a mountain bike and you teach me how to clean it like a few days after... What are the odds?
It was meant to be!
I know its an old bike but the use of that pressure washer around parts that contain bearings and seals is painful 😢
Nice!!!
I have done 4 bikes from neighbors who are mountain bikers with Gtechniq products protection
Show off!
@@CarCleaningGuru 😄😄it's part of growing as a Detailer not only for vehicles but for motorcycles (haven't done one), bikes, boats, trucks 😄😄
Unfortunately that line of products isn't available here
Just accept it as is. It looks better than more than half the bikes in the world. Put the money back into your business.
Next video: detailing a skateboard
For a few hundred pounds in parts you're almost better off picking up something used and doing another fixer upper video.
I just love those videos
“Meet the wife Susan isn’t she beautiful”
You shouldn't pressure wash a bike because water seeps into the bearings
Yas!
1
Disgusting! Blasphemy!
10/10 Would shred this.
Plz upgrade this bike I'd love to see I know you do car cleaning but otis you've got a decent bike there amazon have some decent stuff on there like hope brakes bergtec handle bars you can get this bike looking mint oh I subscribed 👍
I fitted cheap rear disc today and new headset bearings so no more rattle and can do skids again! Just needs brake line shortening and maybe a chain tensioner.
Nice JOB!
