I couldn’t care less if she was sponsored by nomos. 1. She always spoke highly about it 2. Nomos were probably the only brand at W&W actually understanding the assignment, letting people see and try the watches in a series of colors. 3. Germans always make things right and for everyone. Certain brands could learn from this.
Wow very impressed about your content. Came here first for the Tangente 175 models and now i have watched a few Videos from you. Your Personal style, your knowledge and your minimalism scenes gives me a lot. I am super ready for my Tangente Dunkelbunt. Sometimes i am looking for minutes at the back of the watch. Like a little Meditation 😁 Thank you for your content 🙌
The history is both interesting and underrepresented on watchyoutube. I am amazed how folks did this stuff in the olden days, and how places (like Glasshutte) became global centres
I’m right there with you, Brit. A few years back, while on vacation, I started doing some serious UA-cam research (mostly Teddy at that point lol) trying to figure out if I wanted to jump into the watch world again. Then….I saw it…..the Alpha movement of the Nomos Club Campus 738. The beauty, architecture, history & craftsmanship are all so next level. You can feel the pride they take in all of their watches. I was sold right then and there, ordered the watch and when I got home from vacation it was waiting there for me. I was bit by the bug. I’ve owned many watches since then, but this first one will never leave. I’m so thankful to Nomos for getting me into proper watch collecting. Though I have to say, measuring all other brands against them seems a bit unfair! 😂~ great vid as usual! 😎👍🏼
Finally bought the Club Campus Cream Coral 36 after wanting it since it's release last year! Got the exhibition case back too! Bought it as a joint Mother's Day/Father's Day for my wife and I so she can wear it on Shabbos (Friday night through Saturday) and other Jewish Holidays when she wears a watch, and I get to add it to my collection and wear it during the week! Been loving all your NOMOS content recently, as well as from before NOMOS did their Baskin Robbins 31 flavors of Tangente (which are all awesome, my wife likes the frostblau, tiefseegrau, and pompadour the most). Finally a watch that she enjoys that feeds the hobby and the collection!
I work as a history researcher [Coast Salish of BC] and I love archival research, so maybe I am biased in my opinion, but please don't hold back on the deep dives into history! I commend you for your research and how you presented it! Can't wait to see the winner of your Nomos finals.
I admire the work that went into this video 👏 Nomos is definitely very underrated and one of my favorite brands out there. Keep up the great work and congrats to you and your husband on the baby 🎉
Absolutley love this dedicated series on Nomos - new and interesting IMO. Also, mu favorite two colorways made it to the finals - so hard to pick a favorite though!
German watchmaking is under rated because most regular people only know 6 brands and many watch people buy to inpress others ( friends, colleagues , gold diggers etc) not themselves
Theyre a coin toss sadly for me. I bought a Laco Flieger Pro and I’m not impressed. I dig the WW2 design and all the history but for its price, apples to apples to other alternatives it’s a bit hard to stomach. Nomos watches feel cheap, even though I love the Bauhaus design.
Great video Britt! I would be happy if you could make a similar video about the other German brands, such as Zeppelin, Iron Annie, Bauhaus and ruhla 1929, which are produced by the German company Pointtec, and they are great watches as well, but even more underrated.
My Nomos Tangente was made in Switzerland (basically)! Bought it on a Lufthansa flight in 2003 for about 1,000 Euros. It has an ETA movement. (Apparently at that time Nomos didn’t make their own movements yet). Looks exactly the same as the present day Nomos! Still wear it occasionally!
Great Video! If you like german watches, Junghans could also be interesting for you. With them it's more about the design than the watch making but their Bauhaus watches are great!
I can see the Nomos added value... Easy to read simple Bauhuas style dials. Great /simple case shape/finishing. In-house well finished movements. I own a Campus Club and Metro.
For me 1. Germans lack of how to commercialise it 2. even lowest price watch German is same as normal Mido price, which not much people would call "affordable" while Tissot is only half price of Nomos and some can still touches it 3. They sees as German isn't much of "beautiful watch" but more of "tool watch" But I'm stupid and might be wrong, since I can't even afford the cheapest Laco
I wear a Laco (my first automatic watch), my next purchase will be probably a Junghans or Nomos. And Hanhart is among my grails. Yes , I am a fan of german brands.
I like the super sardine. I would have tried to buy one of these watches if I did not have so many watches on my list to buy already. Much love to you and your channel, cheers.
I checked local retailer of Glashütte, they have in stock SeaQ in black…and I’ve never seen better dive watch…wanted to buy BB54 but nahh…I’ll be ahead of time…and I understand why you love German watchmaking,it is whole unique and different approach.
@@ollik8192 I think only stronger option is JLC Polaris date…submariners became most boring watches to own,Seamaster and Fifty Fathoms can’t even be mentioned in this convo…
Of the last two remaining, the castle green one is a better color! (Castle green = Schlossgrün) BTW “Schneesturm“ = Snowstorm. Super sardine? Nah. Also, your Western Canadian accent makes proper German pronunciation virtually impossible. So, don’t blame yourself because you say “Gnaw-Moss.” It’s OK. Mein Deutsch ist auch nicht zu gut. Great video! A bright star in an otherwise dreary Monday morning. German watchmaking doesn’t get the Press that the Swiss get because it’s not in the uppity, rarified atmosphere of the Asgard of Watchmaking, The Jura canton of Switzerland. My cousin (who IS German) has a Glashütte Original and it is an excellent watch. I was as impressed with his Glashütte as he was with my Omega. We had a fun time talking watches!
You should get TWO of them, Britt! Nomos’ Alpha caliber is the most beautiful and accurate caliber for its price and the winding is much nicer than ETA and clone movements found in equally priced watches. I bought a used Ludwig on eBay and it still runs to chronometer specifications. These new Tangente dials are really nice.
What is wrong with being passionate about things you love ? And making it very, very clear? For me, that is one of the main reasons to watch your stuff on the tube and not the usual marketing-speak of many other tubers. DON´T CHANGE A THING!
The problem I have with Nomos are the lugs. Too long for my tast. I like the dials though. Nothing against German watches. As I love the Jungans Max Bill.
I don't think they are underrated. Most people know about their quality. And their prices are amazing. Like many other people here, I avoid microbrands because I can actually buy a Stowa, a Nomos Club or a Hanhard Pioneer with a little more than 1K. Swiss watches are, of course, number 1; but Germany and Japan are right there, on top of everyone else.
This comes from a place of love STOP BANGING ON ABOUT NOMOS there my secret crush well ours and if everyone finds out then the price will go up and everyone will claim to have loved them forever ( I own an Orion) love the history behind a brand do more please Andrew Morgan Morton one of the has done a good history one I will tell u when I find it again love ur work xx
I wish they just had added a few to their normal collection. I’m tempted by a few, but I refuse to make a hasty decision out of not missing out on the limited run.
after watching this video, i went to the nomos website and looked up all the watch's, my favourite watch is the world time midnight blue (807) a very beautiful watch.
I think German watchmaking is recognized by informed watch enthusiasts as among the best in the world. Lange, Lang and Heyne, Moritz Grossmann, NOMOS etc are all amazing brands.
Although I can understand your reasoning for dropping the Ziegelblau from the running I can’t condone it as it’s my pick 😉. My prediction is the Schlossgrun, I think you’ve been gunning for it from day 1 (grunning?). It was in my top three , so it’s all good. 😀
Straps made from dead horse must have cost them a lot in reputation and sales, hopefully they are stopping that now. But everybody seems to love this collection
One thing will be in common with all underrated brands , lack of marketing efforts and lack of a wide catalog for a collector, brands like Nomos are mostly a one watch in the collection no more , a strong brand will ensure a bigger share of any one collection, same with Grand Seiko they are a great brand but for most people they are happy to have only one GS in their collection .

Not sure why collectors would be interested in German watches, except maybe the odd field watch from many decades ago, but they are fine if somewhat overpriced. Are they Made in Germany? Who knows, The mark ‘Made in Germany’ is not regulated (apparently, as long as a product is packaged in Germany a company can print ‘Made in Germany’ on it) and it was imposed by the British Government 130 years ago to protect consumers from low quality products.
