    It's important to be able to contact the other side when you are not at war. To this point, peace is the status quo even if one side or the other pushes a boundary that the other one doesn't like. Communication keeps people alive and prevents accidents.

    • @ronaldhunt7617
      @ronaldhunt7617 8 місяців тому

      When you are dealing with a rational nation with reasonable goals. This is not one of those cases. China's goal is to defeat and replace the United States first in the Pacific, then the world. Appeasement kills people and ensures accidents.

    • @Strykenine
      @Strykenine 8 місяців тому +4

      @@ronaldhunt7617 Disagree. Appeasement is different from communication. Has the US appeased China in the SCS or elsewhere? I don't think they have in a meaningful way, but I'll be corrected if you have receipts. Communication, which the US and USSR maintained during the Cold War, was integral in ensuring that even the most intense standoffs of the last half of the 20th century didn't turn into shooting wars. Communication and appeasement aren't the same thing, and if we act from a position of strength (which the US does currently) then we should always be willing to communicate.

    • @nickmollison8608
      @nickmollison8608 7 місяців тому +4

      @@Strykenine I agree with you and must emphasize that demonstrating, acting, and communicating from a position of strength is absolutely key. Maintaining our military strength in the region right now is more important than ever, because it's not only our pressure point to deter overt aggression and a hot war, it's an asset to defend and apply pressure against China's hybrid warfare against us, which we know is going to continue unabated and outside the spotlight. There very much is an active war being fought over trade and commerce, regional alliances predicated upon perceived strengths, signals intelligence, disruption/theft/infrastructure cyber attacks, propaganda....the list goes on. Weakness is provocative in every theater.

    • @ronaldhunt7617
      @ronaldhunt7617 7 місяців тому

      @@Strykenine Appeasment practically requires communication, the two are not mutually exclusive. We are at war with China right now -correction, China is at war with us.
      The recon plane that they damaged during an interception and then held its crew hostage until we apologized while taking it apart and studying it. The undersea drone(towed?) they snared did the same thing with. Defying a Word court and building outposts in the territory of our sworn allies. Their unrelenting infiltration of our government, defense industry, and universities. Setting up "police" stations in the US and allied countries. Using proxies to destabilize the West (Iran, Russia, and North Korea) and distract us. I could doubtless go on but why bother when all you have to do is listen to Xi himself -the entirety of the South China Sea belongs to him, Taiwan belongs to China, and the US must leave and mind its own business.
      Now some of the Islands he claims are Japanese others belong to the Philipines both of which we are treaty-bound to defend. Taiwan? If China takes Taiwan it is over, we are Rome 2.0 No satellites, cellphones, computers, or F-35s, you will even have to get up and make your own coffee. So no, I do not think having a phone line so they can get on it and scream how we are violating their territory when we steam a destroyer past a Philippine island at flank speed practically in sight of the Philipines and thousands of miles away from China is of much use.
      (Edit)" Appeasement of the Soviet Union is exactly what CAUSED the Cold War. Patton was right to want to deal with the Soviets when we were strong and they were bled white with the US being the only country with nuclear weapons. And MacArthur was right during the Korean War when he wanted to deal with China (before they had nuclear weapons?) Likewise, Chamberlain was wrong and we see the results in millions of deaths that may have been prevented or at least diminished had France and Britain acted as soon as the first German crossed into Austria.

SSBNs is purely for retaliatory purposes as to ensure the opponent they will get revenge strike. That is what the nuclear triad is about.

    From another UA-camr: Nations don't have friends, nations have _interests._
    We don't have to be friendly at all with the Chinese government/military-- this is the country that arguably commits piracy in every ocean to feed its population and steals islands for military bases-- but we don't have to be launching weapons at them or threatening to, either. It's important to remember this, especially when we have huge corporations who can't wait to make a billion new customers in China and thus allow the Chinese government to control what they can say or do. The current administration calls this a "competition", and it's as good a word as any.
    If the Chinese want to be recognized as a modern power, they can start by respecting and following international laws without throwing huge tantrums every time they see something that threatens the government's power.

    China is much less of a threat than the Soviet Union was, even though the CCCP ascended in to the realm of bureaucracy after the death of Stalin it could easily overrun Europe and pose a serious threat to world order. China however is surrounded by opponents, has a counter balance with India, has major weaknesses with the lack of oil and gas and unlike the CCCP, China depends on the world market to provide employment and happiness to 1.4 billion people. Russia always has a highly obedient population, China dose not. It might look scary 1.4 billion people but man if you piss them off all hell will break loose and the Communist party of China knows all too well how fast things can change, look at how COVID lockdowns ended, it wasn't the Communist party that made the call, no no, it was the people of China, they held up the white protest signs and turned against the authorities forcing on the Communist Party to end it all no matter the cost and after massive investments in to COVID. The USA has nothing to worry about. Russia is checked and China is not a threat. Enjoy life.
    Worst case, freaking worse case, we lose trade with China, we get major inflation and shortages of junk and electronics, interest rates are hiked to the sky, asset values fall and people roll up their sleeves and get back to manual labor. Have you never poured molten metal in to a mold? Have you ever wired electronics? It's easier than a Tech or Office job. Ok really, it will just make half the world very happy to take over exports to the west, the list of countries waiting to dethrone China is pretty long.....

    I wrote this, because of the advertisement for "Conflict of Nations". Maybe here are some souls who still like to sit down at a table and play with some friends of yours. As I said earlier, "old school". If you are familiar with "Axis and Allies 1940 Global", you will get accustomed with "Global War" easily.

    Ok fair enough the Lions did a good job in that last game. It was still a game by the end of it but stillthere we a few mistakes I got to shack my head at. But you are right overall a good season. And while not the winners a heck of a change from not even a few years ago.

    We need more talk and coordination, now more than ever. I hope we can continue to normalize and improve relations with our near-peer adverseries. I worry though that the top leadership on both sides, ours and theirs, will not allow this to continue.

    The last time we “dismissed” someone because we didn’t know anything about their skill set we had 8 battleships crippled with 2 being totaled and we were dragged into a war. We won that war, so hopefully China will know how to read a history book that isn’t based on only Chinas history and leave our boats alone as well as our other assets abroad. As for Sierra Madre, they should probably update and upgrade that old wreck with a proper facility built into that little bit of real estate they have there.

      The "next" war will be fought purely with whatever you have on hand at the time. We're not going to have time to build "a new fleet" like we did in WW2. What you've got in your inventory on "Day 1" is what you're going to have to fight it out with. Which is why people are so concerned about both manpower and materiel issues in the fleet right now. If we had to "go to war" right now, the first "Constellation Class" FFG wouldn't be done anywhere in time...we've got only the LCS classes. China would literally eat our lunch right now.

      @@pastorjerrykliner3162 true, luckily we already have over a dozen aircraft carriers, numerous hunter killer subs and a potent ABM battery to shoot down anything thrown at us.

    We don't need to meet with anyone from China. Maritime law, which the Chinese have signed, is already in force. As for China 'bothering' Philipino fishermen, that's easy, too. Stop! Or suffer the consequences. Meeting with them at this time shows weakness.
    Besides, it's been demonstrated that China says one thing and does another....all the time.

    • @yixinmei5854
      @yixinmei5854 8 місяців тому

      Americans have no right to talk about maritime law. your congress didn't approve it, your navy perfom so called navigation freedom operations that based on 3 mile territorial sea. Fix your mistakes mentioned above, then you may have the moral high ground to talk about maritime law, but poisoned by US exceptional mindsets for decades I deeply doubt that you will really follow the rule based game.

    haha, That is a funny question. The Chinese Navy will never get along with the US Navy until it disappears from North East Asia. The US Navy couldn't fight a bunch of Yemeni farmers who are blockading the US shipping traffic. It just tells you how weak the US Navy is. Why didn't the US Navy deploye LCS after spending billions on these ships? It is because these billion-dollar ships are ineffective in combat.

    • @noneshere
      @noneshere 8 місяців тому +1

      LCS fleets have been decommissioned within 5 years of being built because of hull cracking and constant drive line failures.
      US is extremely dependent on outside countries for metals and outside countries don't give quality materials for sanctionable worthless non gold backed paper dollars.
