The complete scenario discussed here is described and played out in full in Stanley Alexander's book Darkest Days. It's a far worse nightmare than anyone can imagine.
When I was a kid in suburban New York, in elementary school, we had 'duck and cover' drills meant to survive a nuclear attack from the Soviet Union. But they were eventually stopped because survival really wasn't credible, especially living so close to a major target. We knew, as children, that it would only take thirty minutes for an ICBM to reach us from the USSR. The common joke was, "In case of nuclear attack, put your head between your knees, and kiss your ass goodbye."
and realize they WONT be returning to earth because they need all that help from below to get them back. they will freeze after their fuel runs out, and or starve after their food and water run out.
I'm British and i was in the RAF. On our crew room wall we had a map of every russian target in the UK. It was leaked information and accurate. Every city and town was targeted as was every airport, civilian and military, every port, civilian and military and every power staion including nuclear power stations, railway yards, military bases and bridges. The total number of warheads was 280. 280 nuclear warheads on a small nation! Every major city had 4 designated nukes aimed at it! Now repeat this for the USA! Not many in the northern hemisphere would survive.
Very grim. Political leaders, royals and infrastructures will then be gone. What remain will be nuclear contaminated land and water. UK will be without civilisation as from that point. Sad.

"MIRVS" can be used two ways: Detaching and hitting multiple targets, or kept together to make a "Tsar Bomba" (Russia) or "Sasquatch" (U.S.) 50+ Megatons either way
Exactly. There would never be "just one warhead launched" anywhere, by anyone. Everyone's ICBMs and SLBMs have multiple warheads each (even if each missile has 3-4 warheads with a couple hundred kilotons yield per each, which they may or may not be reduced to nowadays with arms reduction treaties and agreements, it's surely sobering and scary enough to think about). Realistically any launch in anger from a country and the following retaliatory launch(es) from the other country or countries once the first missile is detected in the sky (most likely would be multiple countries launching their missiles because of agreements and treaties and pacts for allies to help each other in the event of an attack) would be an exchange of a WHOLE LOT of missiles sent from each side, that is to give the greatest chance of a higher number of warheads actually reaching their intended targets to achieve maximum effect, because some of them would possibly either fail or likely be intercepted by different weapon systems and taken out before reaching their target. No matter what, the whole idea of this is seriously scary and a very dismal thing to think about ever happening to humanity in our lifetimes. Nobody actually wins. One thing that truly scares me is nuclear war, plain and simple.
@@joshy_b_823 Its MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction). Thats probably what prevented it from happening in the cold war. So when they say give youself a better survival chance, the odds are still stacked against you surviving from the initial shockwave, it makes you realise survival isn't really an option. Scary thought as a 8 year old kid back then. 🙄

When there is a nuclear strike against the United States, the most devastating places to hit are the volcanic calderas which have rising magma pockets ready to blow. The caldera at Yellowstone, for example, sits on the continental divide and has access to the network of fault lines beneath the earth. This network would cause such devastation that there will be millions who will die without anyone firing another shot. Military bases would be in severe risk due to the loss of the skies. All flights would be canceled due to the amount of volcanic dust in the air as a hazard to aircraft engines. Then, earthquakes would take infinitely more lives while the air is filled with volcanic ash and nuclear winter. The catch is...the depths of the volcanic eruptions will cause a chain reaction of earthquakes will also start many of which will be reverberating back and forth. The ability to intercept incoming nuclear ICBMs would have a difficult time due to the resulting affect of EMPs while natural disasters are taking place from earthquakes. The fault lines in the oceans surrounding the United States causing tsunamis like the which this world has never known. With such continuous effects, much of the US nuclear arsenal will be out of commission or completely destroyed. Now, recalibrate your worst case scenarios based on this strategic devastation happening. So, where did I hear about his plan? A Russian general suggested it on American television networks a couple of decades ago and I have never forgotten it.
My theory is that nuclear apocalypse "happens" all the time, we just keep collapsing into the weirder and weirder timeline where it doesn't happen, because a universe without observers would not exist
That's an interesting theory: My initial theory is that this world has gone through multiple nuclear apocalypse's, hence why we don't fully understand ancient civilizations. As a way to keep the population from growing too rapidly to prevent overuse of limited resources. I understand that modern science debunks this, but in the state of the world, is modern science becoming a propaganda piece to prevent others from thinking this?
The universe definitely would exist. There just would be no one to record its existence.Dont kid yourself This Universe and the others ones were here before and will be there after if humanity were to end or no consciousness existed intelligent enough to record the universes existence

When I was a kid in suburban New York, in elementary school, we had 'duck and cover' drills meant to survive a nuclear attack from the Soviet Union. But they were eventually stopped because survival really wasn't credible, especially living so close to a major target.
Sad.

Suprised this wasnt mentioned
"MIRVS" can be used two ways: Detaching and hitting multiple targets, or kept together to make a "Tsar Bomba" (Russia) or "Sasquatch" (U.S.) 50+ Megatons either way
It was mentioned in the video
