Arkasha Stevenson definitely entered my list of Directors to look out for
Man the praise for Nell Tiger Free is beyond wonderful to hear, because she is a very underappreciated young actress. Caught my eye in Too Old To Die Young and been a fan ever since... and to hear how good she is and how good the film is, is a breath of fresh air.
Only seen her in Servant but the show wouldn't have been the same without her
@@bio2189I agree 100%. Hell, she was the reason I even watched it.
Dude she’s on my radar for sure after this movie
She was absolutely fantastic!
Nell Tiger Free was great in TOTDY, a great series too.
Knowing that its a prequel to a movie that's 48 years old at this point with tagline in the poster confidently saying that it is "the most terrifying movie of the year", it's honestly quite shocking that it has been getting a strong positive buzz, but hey good for them 😂
I saw this comment on Jeremy’s video too.
It's actually a pretty solid movie. It's like 3/4 trashy Italian horror. Pleasant surprise for sure.
It really is that good trust me. Shat on Immaculate AND Late Night With the Devil. Hell, I haven’t seen a horror film this good since Hereditary or Sinister.
The movie is good, who cares if someone on the marketing team decided it was a good idea to include an infamous quote lol
Do I have to see the others before seeing this one I haven't seen the others but I wanna see this one
Saw it tonight! I thought it was absolutely incredible. Let's just say a certain shot in the first part of the movie (where a woman has her legs wide open and something is coming out) and it cuts to black.... the ENTIRE audience just audibly had a different reaction. It was awesome
Can we watch this without any context of the old omen films ?
Because this is the first time I am hearing about omen films..
@@imkira13 It stands on its own. The final word in this movie kinda "sets up" the original movie. Other than that, you'll understand everything.
That shot was absolutely insane.
MILD SPOILER:
I texted someone I know about what I thought of the movie afterward and said "Deformed hands show up in places where you wouldn't expect".

Saw it last night. The word masterpiece gets thrown around a lot but this flick is damn close. One of the best prequels ever made and just an incredible horror film in every regard. Huge and welcome surprise.
Oof It was creepy creepy
Masterpiece implies perfection. This was far from it. Rewatch the original and see how much the mucked up the story
@@divdo1you can't relax and just enjoy a good prequel can you 😂
@@LeonAvalos oh I enjoy a good prequel. A good prequel can at least make sense. This wasn’t one of them
@@divdo1why don’t you go troll somewhere else and let others enjoy their experience with the movie.
The First Omen and Monkey Man have almost the exact same poster, and I find that extremely amusing.
Same lmao😅
They must have been so annoyed when they seen each other's posters lmao

The First Omen 👿 vs Monkey Man 🐒
is a prediction on the election 🤣
Biden aint no money man
To answer the quote, the original Omen was a small phenomenon that had people terrified of the concept of a devil child. There is a documentary regarding its pop culture effect in the bluray version of the (1976) feature.
The first film is also really good.
It wasn't a brag. It was a wink and nod to the genre and the original film.
@@eddiezanryder I should have made it clear that the news talked about it being the scariest and the poster refers to its influence. Even in the doc you see people going to ambulances and a small satanic panic that came from the release of the film. Plus the curse made the film much more known albeit infamously.
@@ericesposito3880 I’ll give that a watch after. This might be another set of movies that match each other’s plots. Like Volcano and Dante’s Peak, or Antz and A Bug’s Life.
Totally agree! At one point I realised that Gregory Peck should appear at the end… and was worried we might get a CGI version. So relieved they went for the photo in the file option. I was also blown away at how much the cinematography looked like a 1970s film
I enjoyed it more than Immaculate. Looking forward to your Monkey Man review, loved it.
I think I need to see an optometrist!
I could barely follow the action in Monkey Man!!
Chris grew up with The First Omen
@@travisspazz1624wasn’t a huge fan of a lot of the camera work during the action scenes but it was still dope.
It was a good film, but I thought Immaculate was better. It wasn’t constrained like The First Omen, which had to fit within the Omen franchise.
Glad to have this films quality confirmed. I saw the trailer in theaters and was really impressed but didn't want to get my hopes up too high. Doubly excited now and booking a ticket for tomorrow.
'This film was 666 times better than I thought it was going to be!'
I see what you did there Chris!
What did he do?
@@21innocentbystander 666 is the number for the devil.
Yeah, I thought that was a nice touch🤣
@@somecallmejeremy What????
What did Mr stuckman do? I represent Mr Stuckman. Do know when his film is going to be released?
I've been watching Stuckman videos since he was in his bedroom with the Batman posters.
Guys he literally started off reviewing movies in his bedroom. There is nothing creepy about what I said. Unless you are not an og subscriber and don't know what I'm talking about.
U sound creepy 😭
Who watches someone on their bedroom.
What the hell dude 😅😂
so you'd been stuckmannised long time ago!

Thanks Chris for your honest reviews. So far your reviews been on point.
I got extremely and also weirdly excited when I saw the trailer a few months ago at the cinema, the cinematography looked extremely careful, very detailed and also very creepy. It looked very atmospheric and genuinely creepy, which is very rare. The composition, the music, the sound design, the way the trailer was presented really caught my my attention, I looked it up immediately and saw that it was a relatively small movie with no ratings and that it hadn’t come out. I’ve been waiting for it ever since with some suspicion but also excitement to see what it really is about. Your review confirmed my suspicion and my thoughts around the movie, so now I’m going to go watch it very excited and eagerly. Great review Chris as per usual, loved it.
You mentioning Possession aka one of my favourite movies, hyped this movie up for me soooooo much!!!!
Which year did it come out and who are the main actors? I tried looking it up and there are 4-5 movies with that name.
@@taotzu1339 it's the one made by Żuławski with Sam Neill. It was made in 1981
Hey Chris! Just wanted to say I absolutely love your reviews. Your channel is one of my top all-time favorites on UA-cam. Your videos are so joyful and exciting - exactly what I enjoy. Big thanks from a fan in Spain! 🤩
I had that no expectation turning to awe moment for a couple of films. Shawshank Redemption, Ususal Suspects and Dusk Till Dawn. I saw all those on sneak preview showings. I had no idea what would be on, no idea what those films were, so it's a perfect surprise. I try to preserve that magic by checking out no trailers, sometimes just looking at the thumbnails you guys on UA-cam provide for your reviews.
This film is now on my must-see list. I hope to have forgotten everything you said when I go see it.
You are the 4th online critic I follow who has said pretty much the same thing. Thanks, Chris. I'm sold!
I love the Omen trilogy, these are among my favorite horror movies so was not initially thrilled to hear a prequel was made - but your review of it has made me at least curious. I might go watch the original first though, just to get that dark feeling back. Thanks man, great job as always!
I’m hearing really positive things about The First Omen. I can already tell the director captured the essence of the time period cinematography wise
There was a tv show called Damien that was on A&E I believe, wish that never got cancelled. It was a good twist on The Omen!
yea your right but the show was poorly written
bro literally decided to comment the exact same thing on the Jeremy Jahns video and the Chris Stuckmann video.
@@nasanoir310 I think this is a bot
@@LuisSierra42nah he isn’t a bot surprisingly this is common for people to copy and paste their comments or others bcus they are farming likes. They get a dopamine hit from the validation or interactions and a sense of good karma for spreading joy.
Same exact experience. Went in with no expectations. Left completely blown away.
Great horror and by far my favorite Omen film!
I just got home from watching it and my whole theater was audibly gasping at certain scenes (especially THAT one) and the jump scares were well done. Scares aside I really enjoyed the story and watching it unfold. It found a way to respect the original film while expanding on it. All the actors brought their A game to the movie and that brought the terror home like few other horror films have. Go watch it !
Which scene is THAT one?
Chris, I will never see another movie again without reading your review first. You are awesome analyzing films. Keep up the great work!!!
This and Alien: Romulus are the first time I’ve been excited for horror movies in years! I’m working on watching the original Omen for my first time, and I’m really looking forward to seeing the rest and then hopefully The First Omen back to back! What a great year for surprise movies so far!!!!
Same!!! It looks like a great year for movies.
This wasn’t even on my radar of movies to watch this year but definitely going to check it out now after seeing this review. Thank you! 💪🏽
Crazy how it was the trailer shown before Late Night with the Devil, that sold me on the film. It looked so good... Then I saw the title of the film, and was surprised that it was an Omen movie trailer. I had high hopes just from the trailer and I'm so happy to hear the positive receptions!
Thanks for the review,Chris!Planning to see it last week but I didn't want to see it without seeing your review first..Omen 1 is such a classic favorite of mine, glad to know the prequel is good. Will watch it omorrow!
What a masterpiece. Performance, directing, cinematography, music, lighting, etc.... I couldn't stand up after the movie.
Looking forward to this one Chris! Great review.
It has Bill Nighy, Ralph Innesin, and Charles Dance in it by the looks - some powerhouse British talent... So im sold already
Another thing that in any other movie would've been a red flag tho. lol
When your cast is that stacked it's either gonna be really good or really REALLY bad, yano? 😅
(Although, now I sorta want the terrible syfy original horror movie where Bill Nighy and Charles Dance compete to be The One Thing Worth Watching "yes I know exactly what kind of movie I'm in" "elegant consumption of the scenery with cutlery we're not barbarians thank you very much" villains? It'd be Underworld all over again.)
I’ll watch anything with Charles Dance
He only has a small cameo part @@renaissanceman5296
Best rosemarys baby reprise since Rosemarys baby. Hopefully we’ll get more of these movies in the future. I’m so sick of jump scares that is not horror !
Loved the whole production, director, DOP, casting, art direction etc. This is a real good one. As a major horror fan and fan of The Omen, I haven't been impressed by any movie in a while. Nell Tiger Free and Ralph Ineson, who I loved in the Witch, are really amazing actors.
Hey @ChrisStuckmann when will Shelby Oaks release? Looking forward to that!
I never clicked so fast. It means for me, Chris is the truth.
I am a huge fan of Servant and obviously a large part of that was Nell Tiger Free's performance so I am super stoked and happy for her that The First Omen is getting great reviews.
I don't normally do horror films, but I did see the original on the t.v when I was a little kid back in the 1980s, and it scared me to tears, so based on this review, I'm going to give it a watch.
phenomenal movie! I watched it today and I mist confess it is so much better than I expected. The actress who plays Margaret did a superb job! 5 stars.
I saw it yesterday and I will say it is one of the best horror movies I have ever seen! I had no expectation’s and being a fan of the original. The First Omen did it Justice. You are right. The last 20 minutes were sheer dread and I was absolutely shocked they went the direction they did. I’m sure you know what I mean. I absolutely want to see this again this week and Whoever played Father Brennon did an amazing job. I truly hope they continue the story some how. We deserve more of this amazing story to move forward somehow. I can’t say enough how much I loved it and will say. They did a legendary actor right in the end. So glad it was incorporated!
Chris always nails it so Im gonna go. Thanks again!
Glad this is getting good reviews. I’m getting Possession vibes as well from the performance. So happy studios are starting to release suspense and story are more important than loud sounds and jump scares.
I’m seeing The Omen tonight! Thank you for an awesome review!
How was it?
Always enjoy your reviews mate, thanks. Peace and Love
I saw the original Omen in the late 1970s (yes, I'm old) and went to see this one on the basis of your review. I enjoyed it and thought it was very confidently crafted and well played by all of the actors. Without spoiling anything, the only thing I noticed was that it turned a major plot twist in the 1976 movie on its head. But, I think they can logic it through if they make any more movies with these characters.
Question does it help to see the original Omen before this movie? Or am I fine watching it after? Sometimes gets tricky with prequels.
Saw it last night and I feel the exact same way. I was expecting it to be okay, and I was absolutely blown away. This movie deserves more recognition.
Saw it late last night, and I was floored by how excellent it is.
The movie was creepy and scary and intense as fuck fans of Richard donners classic won’t be disappointed
Delighted to hear this! Will get my lady to watch the original with me (really fucked me up as a kid) and this prequel.
never would have paid 2 see this BUT after your positive review gave it a chance and I am glad I did. Your review is spot on and very accurate. Thanks for the opinions and your brilliant analysis. I loved it!!!
wait a sec Stuckman, did you indeed say it was six hundred and sixty six times better than expectations? very nice affectation there! 🤘 i salute you sir!
In The Omen (1976) movie, wasn't Damien born from a Jackal (a dog)?
Yes.
Daddy
Yes,that’s correct.
Yes, they should've kept the original plot.
The Jackal was the father and the thing burning at the end of the movie. They should have made that more apparent though.
Man, I didn't expect to like this movie so much! It made me feel so tense I actually wanted to leave the cinema at some point! 😂
There's so much to love about this, absolutely creepy, glad we're getting so many great horror movies this year.
I was curious but you have made me quite intrigued to check it out. Well put.
For a long time I stopped caring about horror movies but this was absolutely fantastic and very different! I enjoyed the ending and there were a lot of great scenes that were just shot beautifully! This and immaculate have been sooo good!!
The first Omen us right next to the Omen. Watch these back to back. Love it!
2:04 I was wondering where I'd seen her before. She was brilliant in Servant!
I saw this movie before looking at your review and I have to admit that you were spot on and the first omen definitely stands side by side with The Omen
Thanks for letting me know about 35mm. Got tickets for that!
Thanks for the Review, my dude!
This movie is such a great companion piece/ prequel. It matches the tone and aesthetic of the original but still has modern touches and some nice atmospheric scares. And Nell is fantastic as Margaret! Was very pleasantly surprised at how good it was
everytime in like last 2 weeks when i see that you have posted new review im hoping it is The Late Night with the Devil, can't wait to see it and hear what do you think of it
I saw it tonight and loved it! Was generally freaked out- so well done and belonged well next to the Gregory Peck Omen movie years ago! I want to see it again! 😊
After Exorcist: Believer I thought I'd wait to see the reviews for this one and now I'm kicking myself for it, would have loved the feeling of realizing that I was watching a well made film
The director really did her homework, and the cast did a really good job I also loveed the twist I wasn’t expecting that
Btw long time fan Chris love everything you do man! You’re a legend 🔥
Chris, you have to watch Late night with the devil if you havent already. It is a very creative, well done horror movie. Best horror movie ive seen in a while
he already saw it. hope he reviews it
Looking forward to this now! Still can't believe you haven't reviewed Late Night with the Devil yet though
Same
I'm so impressed with the lead. That scene after the car? I heard that the director whispered in her ear before filming that to freak them the f out. And she did. People were walking off set
You have 2.04M subscribers. I tend to trust your judgement and respect your appraisals. I have been a 'fan' of The Omen since before you were born.
You had better be bloody right on this because your review is the only reason I'm going to give this flick eyeballs. (if you're wrong, one of your 2.04 is going to be mighty miffed off with you Mr Stuck.)
Mr. Stuckman I'm going to watch this in the next few hours I really enjoyed your review. I will find out if it is as good as the others. Thank you Sir
thanks chris, wouldnt have seen this film without seeing that you posted a vid on it.
Well well, this is surprising, and Chris's review is very reminiscent of when he reviewed Hereditary. Can't wait to see this. Thanks!
It's no Hereditary.
@@primalplasmaIn all fairness, Hereditary is a once in a generation horror movie classic. It's on a similar level as the Exorcist and Rosemary's baby.
I just saw this last night. There are some parts that are done very well but for me personally, it doesn’t compare to Hereditary.
I also saw Hereditary for the first time a few weeks ago. That movie made me have trouble going to sleep for two nights in a row. This movie…not so much.
that scene in the Bad Room .... holy shit man
Surprised u haven’t reviewed Late night with the Devil , I’ve been waiting on u to do that one
Possession was mentioned. This is already high praise.
I am 100% in agreement. Favorite movie of the year. I had low expectations and had not watched any trailers. Saw a 10pm showing with my 17 year-old son and we were both blown away. I hope it gets further audience traction so it can make a nice profit. Definitely deserving.
Going to the theater to see this tomorrow, im so pumped for this film!
Saw the movie in theaters twice , absolutely one of the most carefully made horror films ,, the director really put an effort to capture exquisite details !!
Acting is brilliant in some scenes ,, the director again definitely respected the actors abilities and expressions ,, it was perfect ,, soundtracks and cinematography were on spot !!
Chris when is your movie coming out ! Cant wait to watch it ! I hope it is screened world wide.
Can’t say I’ve seen the film but love a good Chris Stuckman review nonetheless
Okay. I’m definitely checking this one out. But I’m surprised you haven’t done Late Night with the Devil yet.
I did not expect to love this movie so much. She deserves all the awards.
This one left me satisfied in a way I was hoping Immaculate would. Almost didn’t catch it cause I just never think these sorts of prequel projects end up any good, was pleasantly surprised!
I heard good things and went to see it this morning. It was fantastic. Most surprising, they set up a legit reworking of the story where a new Omen, or a new sequel to that original would be welcome. I would love to know what happens to some of these characters later in life.
I wasn't planning on watching this bc it seem to me another one of those films with a lot of jump scares. But I hv been seeing a lot of good reviews on this one and hearing you praise the movie now makes me want to watch it, I trust your reviews bc I find my taste in movies similar to yours 😄 now I'm looking forward to watching this, probably this weekend. Looking forward to Monkey Man review nxt
I fully agree ... I just watched it on cinema, and the movie is just B R I L L I A N T
One of the best movies I have ever seen.
immaculate is sister act 2 compared to the first omen. def has that must see in the theater feel to it. wasnt expecting it to be as disturbing as it was so that was shocking. the post car accident scene though, omgah that was tops. great movie experience!
The soundtrack was amazing… the cast amazing… the script was amazing… you’ll hear voices throughout the movie 😅 and leave the theater wanting a sequel.
Just saw it and thought it was great.
One thing not mentioned was the trailer was amazingly done.
Should be awards for trailers.
Sitting in the theater right now waiting for it to start. It’s been a while since I’ve seen a good horror movie at the theaters. Pumped!
your synopsis is the feeling i got from the trailer.. maybe this will break the mold and be one of the only horror movies that wins an academy award..
If you're looking for more horror classics, I'm curious if you've ever seen Jacob's Ladder. It's a rare example of a horror movie with a rather uplifting and inspirational message.
Hey Chris, can we have some updates on shelby oaks?
1:22 how I felt about “talk to me”. definitely gonna be adding this to the watch list.
That possessed scene was Perfect . I honestly don’t know how she did it 😂
I've been a subscriber to this channel for years and I've always enjoyed Stuckman's reviews. I still do. I don't always agree with his take on certain films, but that's to be expected. So what if he doesn't want to review movies as bad as Madame Web, who cares? Keep up the good work Chris.
I always go to the movies without watching andy trailer for any movie and I was expecting the same as always, but DAMN, I just saw this movie last night because my gf wanted to see it and I can certainly say that this is the best horror movie I've seen in cinemas since Sinister. I didn't even know that this was a prequel of Omen, and I absolutely loved it. Amazing directing, outstanding acting and great story-telling
Wow, was not expecting this review from this film, but it’s awesome to hear.

Did you ever review ‘Possession’? Frederic Tuten the co-writer was my creative writing teacher in college
This movie was a successful prequel to a horror. It looked so good and played so well. The lead actress and the support female cast were fantastic. Dred is a great way to describe this form of horror.
