The thing you called the pre-boost reference line is actually the wastegate actuator line. "Pre-boost" fueling is not affected by boost at all. That pump does not read boost pressure "from the turbo". Boost pressure is read only from the intake shelf in the manifold. That line sends the same Manifold-AFC pressure to the wastegate actuator. What you would have removed was a "boost elbow", which is supposed to restrict the pressure that the wastegate actuator sees. No boost elbow means your wastegate should be dumping at stock ~18 psi. A boost elbow (without any leaks) would make the wastegate think it's at 18 psi when the turbo is actually pushing 25, 30, 35, etc. into the AFC.
@@Timmandel theoretically yes. Realistically, it depends on if your stock fueling is up to the task. This is the idea behind "boost elbows". It is also dangerous because you can overspeed your turbo if you disable the wastegate by plugging that line. Get a boost gauge before trying it.

I just bought a grail truck. 98 QCLB 12v 4x4 NV4500. Outside (bed mostly) is a little rough, interior is almost mint. Pump has been messed with a bit for sure, but I haven't dug into it yet. Tappet cover leaks like a sieve. I need some 3rd gen wheels for it, it has some hideous steelies on it.

My 12 valve has an in-line pacbrake so I can get by with whatever turbo I want. Still works the same. Also the fleece cheetah is a bad girl that sounds amazing.
What’s the minimum upgrades for an automatic to start messing with the fuel plate? I have a rebuilt trans, no idea what’s in it, but I know it has a billet triple disc converter.
The k27 is what u want for a turbo i got mine from power driven diesel She is a nice mild upgrade Dropped right in my 98 qd cab 12 valve Running afc live and turbo tuner also Make a great combo
Try out the borg Warner k27, supposed to be good up to 450 horse. Utilizes the factory mounting location for exhaust brakes and all that. That’s what I’m going to run next on my 96 5 speed
At least you can see your turbo. My 6.7 Powerstroke, I just have to trust the boost gauge to tell me if there's a turbo under the hood or not. Hell, I can't even see the engine for all the crap under there. It's a great engine but I will never work on it myself. lol
In my bosses 6.0 powerstroke, some mice are the wires to the turbo. And it took us four or five hours to make a 2 hour drive. Definitely didn’t have a turbo spoolin

I have the same intake on my 95 12v, it has so much air flow every time I let off the pedal my turbo chargers and sounds like a blow off valve, but I try to not to save the turbo lol

Every Adapto Deal I try always has a couple hiccups along the way. I have an AFE on my Gen3 and dang thing gave me 2 mpg and dropped EGT by 100 degrees. I have watched some super cross, heats are too short in both time and distance and the speeds are way down from old time motocross. All jumping and no higher speeds. Guess it is good for the participants as injuries are much less severe. Doesn't stoke my fire though as I am a damned speed demon. Are those steel toed bedroom slippers you got on?? LOL

lol rookies only say stuff like that. This welding has built more flat beds and tractor attachments than I could count. No weld failures.

I just took my fuel plate out because everything I read said that a zero fuel plate and no fuel plate at all is the same thing
I have read both, I believe the fuel plate needs to be there as a "backstop" even if it is a 0.
