Too bad charity stars is a largely For Profit company that uses gambling science to get your money. They keep a large sum of all the money and their small donations allow them to make tons of tax write-offs. People should just donate directly to a cause. Bad looks.

We need Sandy Munro to teardown the Lucid Air and compare it to the Tesla. Also, it "seems" that Rivian has the best quality between these three brands.

Thanks for the review, Ryan. 🙂👍 It's an excellent first product, and the slightly rough edges should be sorted out with time and customer feedback.
I'd be very impressed if they made a RHD version, for sale in Britain, and the other lands who drive on the left side of roads. They have a combined population of around 2 billion people.

One quick comment about front trunk (frunk): I understand the benefit of electric operating frunk, there is a condition to improve first. I own a Tesla Y. My real
need would be the possibility to cool the frunk. In the summer or heat it in the winter. Did you ever check the temperature in the frunk on a hot sunny summer day with the Octovalve HVAC running full speed? And let’s not forget the plug to drain water when using it as an ice box ;)

Ryan, Pull over! This is the grammar police. At 21:40, The Lucid doesn't drive "...as good as the Tesla...", it drives as '...well as the Tesla.' (It's a good job, well done not a well job good done.) And incidentally, you've done a good job of comparing and contrasting the Lucid & the Tesla. My only nit to pick is I would suggest when you're pointing to various items, describe and say what you're pointing at. Example; The 3 distinct zones of the dashboard you could describe as; Left, Middle & Right. And one last comment: Car reviews are notorious for colorful & descriptive language to convey the emotive aspects of the car. Your auditory style comes across like you're a Preachers' Son. Please, keep up the good work!

Polestar has sold over 55,000 Polestar 2 cars to date - more than Lucid and Rivian. Polestar plans to produce 290,000 cars by 2025. Polestar 3 should be as popular as Tesla's Model Y. Polestar 2 has a $7500 EV tax credit advantage over Tesla and GM. $5 a gallon in the USA should be great news for EV manufacturers and also for EV stocks. Looking forward to the Polestar merger vote on 22nd June. Happy to be a Polestar GGPI & TSLA & LCID & CHPT investor.

    Good review.
The Dream edition cars were similar to a "Founders Series" and are no longer being made. Those first edition cars do seem to have more little issues with trim and squeaks. The Air GT (same features but 'only' 800hp) I received about a month ago is flawless and dead silent other than the low-speed motor sound that I too find quite appealing.
A major feature not mentioned is the ridiculously fast charging speed. Plugging in at 10-15% I get 22 miles per minute, adds 200 miles faster than a restroom break and buying a soda for the road.
I got an OTA update last night that supposedly improves the nav and addresses a number of bugs. Hopefully it launches more quickly [EDIT: "Hopefully the *software* launches more quickly..." The car itself launches dramatically, almost painfully quickly] because that can be pretty slow. The car will drive before the big screen is loaded so if you have to hop in and go, that works.

Warranty for everything is for 4 years and 50,000 miles. After that the battery and motor units are covered for a total of 8 years or 100,000 miles.
The car goes on sale in Europe later this year. Price and warrantee will likely be different there.
Production will be slow until the factory expansion is finished. construction is ongoing (see "BearsWorkshop" on UA-cam to see that), but pre-ordered cars are shipping today. Sold out until mid-2023.

Did the car only have Spotify to check out the sound system? Spotify only offers lossy, compressed audio (for the moment) so not really a good gauge for testing. Was there a USB slot to test your own lossless/hi res digital files? Or the offer from any of Tidal, Apple Music, Amazon Music Unlimited? I thought the Lucid Air was supposed to have Dolby Atmos? (again not available on Spotify).

You cant fix slow or lagging screens with software, it's chip driven, and would require great chips to begin with. If anything software updates will just make evrything slower, and sluggish, not faster and crisp. Thus the advantage of Tesla chips with Nvidia, they are future proof for what they do.

I made a reservation for the pure version a while back before they raised the price for 10k. After tax credit that one is like 70k. That puts it in an interesting spot. Range is a tad better than base model s, is only RWD and is much slower, but it's 30k cheaper and does not force one to use a yoke. I do think with the recent price increase the lucid loses much of its competitiveness though. But it is always good to have alternatives and the deposits are fully refundable

Im amazed someone wouldn't use the front trunk (or any trunk) because they are too lazy to click a manual release. after seeing the apple car-play presentation it seems that apple will have very few customers (oem's) that will have the computer engineering in their cars to take advantage of apple's u.i. and reliability and ecosystem but Lucid might be one of the few that would be able to work with apple to make their cars u.i. more attractive and useable. Lucid seems to have put a lot of thought into some unique and complex u.i. design choices that give the user a pretty smooth experience. this Lucid interface seems to require some pretty sophisticated computer engineers. i would not say that for most of the other EV'S made by the ice oem's that are attempting to make electric cars which means apple play will likely not offer all of its promised experience for say a chevy volt or a mustang mach-e or vw ev. just basing this on watching their own presentations of each of their own ev's and online reviews. I just don't see the ice oem's being able to find enough people to build a team of computer engineers that can integrate the platform needed to make apple=play work as promised so there will be , imo, just the newer ev manufacturer's and chinese companies that can offer apple car play the way it was promised. Lucid seems to be one of the few that may be able to offer the platform needed to give the owner a realistic choice to use apple-car play in some imagined future. i also imagine that android will build a similar competing product and it remains to be seen if tesla will improve their u.i. and sell that to others too... but i think if a car can use an outside interface that apples will end up being the smoothest if they are able to integrate it into a car as the software demands. just a thought inspired by watching the screens on this lucid.

It appears that Lucid is using the less optimistic EPA testing cycle, which means their range estimates should be 10% to 15% better than the equivalent Tesla range rating (Tesla uses the more optimistic EPA testing cycle). Several reviews so far have validated Lucid's range claims, and it appears that 470 to 500 miles is easily achievable on a charge, even at freeway speeds.

Air GT Owner. You can sure tell this review is over a year old. Much has improved since this went up, but focusing on the power over Range is just a fail on the part of the reviewer. That is the one trick pony of Tesla, whereas the Range is what Lucid focuses on, but very few early reviewers touch on this. Yet every single person considering an EV always talks about range anxiety. It is their primary consideration, but reviewers consistantly just talk about the power...Boring. I love the fact that on my Air GT with the 21" wheels I can drive for over 100 miles before I get to a max range for a Model S. And enjoy the ride with full massage / with cooled / heated seats, and every option that makes the ride more luxury minded than just the one trick pony offers.
Overall you did a fairly good job at the review, but honestly you need to do more investigation on what the car companies focus is before just jumping on the band wagon of power only.
    Updated review would be nice!

I predict in the future, vehicles will have something called or like OPTICAL INTERIOR.
This is a feature wherein one can change the color on the interior. Seats, floor, ceiling, door panels, dash.
Not mood lighting, actually change the color of the seats or Dash. Maybe you want black seats but a red dash. With Optical Interior, (OI) or Interior Optics (IO). The year as of this writing is 2023. Also the tires will change to a Multi-directional Orb that controlled by electric magnets. Some will even have Omni directional wheels. And of course the Honeycomb wheels will be available they have no air and are currently working on them. That will be first. I'm pretty good at guessing what's coming.
I predicted cars will have a kind of remote viewing like 360 degrees on a touch screen so you can see all around the car for parking, hands free Driving and the ability to control your car on your phone, oh and able to summon your car. I also predicted cars will have the ability to be like a Remote control from the fob, (Hyundai has that with the EV6). Made those around 1990.
I also dreamed that cars will one day be able to not only summon emergency responders but from a smart watch connected to the car, it will send your vitals to the responding Ambulance so EMTs and Paramedics can see how you are doing. Pulse Ox, BP, Breathing Rate, temperature, and with interior cameras can see (an option one can opt for) how you are if the car thinks you are still inside. The police on scene can access by remote the cameras on the car and can see what happened to cause the incident.
We are living in both crazy and incredible days. I miss the 70s and 80s but this is like I have been saying lately, "What a Day and Age to be Alive!" ❤
Nice video thank you and thumbs up!
Yeah these look way better in person, saw one on the highway that blew past me, looked like a freaking UFO, I felt like I just witnessed a real life superhero in their crime fighting car. It looked like the future. Truly an amazing and awesome car.
PS, some electric cars in the future will have Shared Battery Program as the manufacturering of EV batteries will become harder as materials will be fewer, so the Government will start a Shared Battery Program and basically what that means is you go to a recharge station but it will be automated, you pull up and in your car using your screens the computer will guide you on to a square pad, if you want you can option for Auto Connect and the EV will do it for you. Once locked in you select on your vehicles screen what amount of battery charge you need and you pay by that amount charge which will be something like:
    20% charge or 40 miles for $5.00
    30% charge or 70 miles for $10.00
    50% charge or 210 miles for $15.00
    100% charge or 500 miles for $20.00
You select which level of charge, and then after payment you sit relax while it takes 2 minutes and 40 seconds for machines to remove your depleted battery and then install and secure your charged battery.
Other forms of charging will be pads your car will auto drive guide or you just pull up on like a parking space and wireless charge your EV, again all done from inside your car using your touch screen you'll never have to get out.
By 2030 EVs will have 500-700 mile range, batteries will charge to 80% in about 8 min. But charge times will get shorter and shorter. We will see a count down of sorts.
    10 min
    6 min
    5 min
    4 min
    And 2 min charge times.
Batteries will move to Hyper Galactic Star Drives with Light and Liquid batteries and motors.
At first Dodge will be the only EV manufacturer to make loud EVs but then others will jump on board all kinds of crazy sounds from the roars of a V12 to the wizzing UFO bleeps and hums.
Ah, its going to be fantastic.
Gas vehicles will ve fewer and fewer till gas becomes so expensive and you beed to pay for special licensing till finally the government bands Gas and Diesel fuel ran ICE vehicles. Can't have them AND the coal plants pumping out fumes.
Eventually the grid will be nuclear power plants and wind and water turbine ran. And the Batteries in EVs will no longer need to be recharged as a kind of alternator will be installed in each wheel and the tops of cars coupes only will have see through glass super solor panels built in to recharge, but most importantly the EVs of 2250 will hover no more rubber tires, and the batteries will be sealed nuclear batteries which will run for 40 years without re chaging and give the driver unlimited range. 😢sorry I won't be around to see it. We were cool people trying in 2023, so if you are reading this in the future, you're welcome
Also I don't want an EV so I can "Go Green" or whatever because lol it will need some sort of Fossil fuel to recharge it from the grid. No, I have a rare incurable super painful nerve disease that's known to be "The Suicide Disease" as it's the only escape. Right now I'm in Stage 2, so I still can have Good days. But I hurt all the time, and although I am a gas engine master tech or master mechanic, I just hurt too much to maintain cars and I'd love a low maintenance vehicle. So thats why I would buy an EV.
Hey thanks for reading. Hope this finds you well❤
