I visited Scotland a year ago and we used the ferries a lot, there were many passengers without cars,we also used the Mallaig to Skye crossing,so you should be OK .As far as I know all ferries can be used by foot passengers.
You stay in the car so that time is not wasted by those who do not return to their cars in time blocking the rest of the traffic, its only approx 35 mins.
Hi, can you go into the ferry without a car as well?
I never noticed any passengers without a car. This ferry was cars only but this was at a time with covid restrictions. It may be different now.

This was during the coivid era, they were being careful. Getting out the car should be fine now
In what way wasn't the crossing good you don't explain?
Couldn't get out of the car (at the time)
