  • Single leg squat is one of the best ways to find your hidden weaknesses. These weaknesses are usually in the hip and trunk. This results in more load on the lower back, knee, and ankle. I'm using a slantboard to further emphasize work on my lower quads.

      The methods are many but the concepts are few

    Is it not just a balance issue? I do the same thing and never thought about it.

      What most people interpret as "balance" is actually weakness in the hips and trunk. Think of it like driving a car. You may know precisely when to turn the steering wheel to keep the car steady but if your arms aren't strong enough to turn the wheel you have a problem.

    What exactly is the hidden weakness? Weak glut med?

    • @Mrwongtao
      @Mrwongtao 3 роки тому

      I find it funny when they pose a question but don’t answer it. You can do a trendelenburg test for a weak glute med by just performing a single leg stand. A positive sign is a unilateral drop in the pelvis.

      Yes Juan but often the functional weakness is not evident in single leg stance. You need to squat or do video analysis of running gait to pick it up in many people.

      That is a big part of it. Really the entire Glut complex and trunk control in that frontal plane

      @@MovementProjectPT I complete agree with you. I was referring to what the other person commented. The video never answered the question it asked.

      @@Mrwongtao You are correct. I will make a more detailed follow up video. Shorts are limited in what I can share. Thanks for the comment!
