The 13 hammers from the chop don't get doubled by the +100% production bonus. chopping into a shrine or temple as piety means you're getting half the value as chopping into anything else
Not completely true. This is an opener I use all of the time. Because I was going to finish the shrine anyway, unless the overflow from finishing shrine + chop exceeds the overflow limit (very rare but possible), chopping now will is just objectively correct. Your criticism of delaying the shrine only matters if chopping would’ve finished the shrine a turn earlier than anticipated.
Hey Ry, how are you liking the v33+ so far? I've seen the beta logs and some members complaining a bit about it so been holding off on updating it from 32.8(I mainly just play SP)
I’ll post a recap vid of the changes once the dust settles. There is not much QA testing before a new patch is posted so it usually a month or so before the kinks are worked out. Overall very good changes but unfortunately a lack of changes to game balance
All depends on when you get indulgences. Because I picked settlements, the religion came much later. If I had done Earth Mother, indulgences would’ve been a great option with a t30 religion.
Absolutely a risk. But barbs are very repetitive. And since I was not getting spawned into by that camp, it’s very unlikely it would switch gears and start moving units towards me. This only changes if you settle near it, or it sees your tiles or whatever. So because it hadn’t sent a unit my way all game thus far, it’s very unlikely it suddenly would
Looking at that Byzantium start 2 seconds in and already jealous of the Earth Mother potential
Another amazing vid!
But dear Gooooooooood, another person in the background asking about how to build in a different game...
Does chopping still work with overflow ? Would it not have been worth to delay shrine by 1 turn at 11:29 for ur chop?

You had like 220 gold turn 25. Why not buy a worker? You would still have enouph for tiles afterwards.
50 gold is not enough gold for tiles on piety
How TF were you so confident that Varna settler wouldn't get captured by a barb from the northeast barb camp?

How come you did not pick Mother Earth here?
Earth mother would’ve been great but I had quite literally just played it the game before and wanted some variety
Rolling pop ruins is a skill issue; if you're getting non-pop ruins just git gud.
Based
You have VERY BIG TEMPO in this game
