Maybe if they had listened to Charles and let them divorce early, so much of what happened later, all the pain and misery, could have been avoided. Actually all of it would have been avoided if they had just let Charles marry who he actually wanted.
The thing is, Camilla did not want Charles, no matter what The Crown series says. Camilla wanted Parker Bowls, and she got him. Only after, with all her husband's cheating and Charles being always there, vulnerable and adoring, she started warming up to him. By that time, the Queen and family started to pressure Charles to find a wife and here comes the perfect little lamb, Diana Spencer. Charles married Diana and Camilla sort of agreed to stay on the side. Maybe, with all the cynicism around them, Charles and Camilla deluded themselves that Diana could take it, no big deal. But she wasn't like them. Diana was a romantic teen looking to escape from that cynic world (aka the Spencer family) and the affair tortured her.
They did the same with the queen's sister, I think he could have left everything to be with Camilla. I personally think it isn‘t really Charles’s or Dianas’s fault... they just weren‘t the right one for each other and this is the main reason for the Failure of their Mariage
It wasn't just the royals putting on the pressure for this marriage to take place--Diana recounted once how she had talked about cancelling or at least postponing, and her sisters told her, "Too late, the tea towels are already being sold." Seems as though a royal event of any kind, that is months if not years in the planning, can take on a life of its own regardless of the toll on the people involved.
@@Ava50019 .....Charles had no choice but to marry and produce legitimate heirs but he put that off only for as long as he could. Charles would have been happy to remain a bachelor, with Camilla as his very close but safely married friend to provide sexual benefits and to cater to his considerable emotional needs.
As much as I love this show, it didn’t address Diana’s horrible childhood. Her parents had a horrible divorce and she (understandably) never liked the woman her father married after. Her parents would also bad-mouth the other, which is very damaging to children (speaking from experience here). I think her parents played a role in Diana’s mental health falling apart. From what I’ve read from butlers and other people who worked with and near the Prince and Princess of Wales, Diana had mood swings and was very clingy and insecure. Add an eating disorder and it’s a perfect storm. None of that was her fault, though, because I think there was unresolved trauma regarding her parents. Unlike how things are now, she and her siblings never got therapy during and after her parents’ divorce. Sadly, I think that it played a part in her marriage falling apart. All I can say is shame on her parents for never making sure their kids were okay after the divorce.

That is cleary not what the queen meant. The question was asked only to Diana because that question was unneccssary for Charles. If you watch this clip here from the very next episode: ua-cam.com/video/7ysdRn5YLTw/v-deo.html&ab_channel=MJLourens it's pretty clear that the queen is fully aware the marriage issues began with Charles and that Diana is more or less suffering because of it. She doesn't need to ask the question of Charles because she fully knows he has no intention of making it work (the response he was beginning to give when she asked if either of them had the intention of making it work clearly implied he was going to suggest a divorce or something). But since Diana came outright and said passionately that she want to make it work, then it would be reasonable to ask why Diana exactly cheated in the first place; note that she isn't exactly demonizing or saying Diana was wrong here at any point (she even talks about turning a blind eye which probably seems like it'd go both ways), but simply questioning her motivations for the affair if she DID want the marriage to work.
@UA-camYT even if it's not a dramatized show, and they just happen to be two random couple discussing with the husband's parents and his mother asks this question, it's still wrong, and ridiculous, and sexist as fuck. she's broken her vows and she gets condemned for it, and Charles the serial adulterer gets applauded for it? the nerve. I hope he didn't even give her any HIV AIDS from Camilla and whoever else Camilla may have slept with.
Besides of everything wrong with charles, i think Diana's parents didn't teach her about reality. She looked like she's been living in fairytale and believed that's how the world works.
Exactly right. Charles was following the rules. Produce an heir and a spare, and then free to do what he wants, as long as he is disceet about it. Diana could do the same. But divorce was unthinkable.
She was 19 when she married him. She was a teenager who never got to grow up and fall in love and have relationships, instead she was Inprisoned into an abusive marriage that left her depressed and anorexic. Ofc she was a little naive she was so young.
This is truth, Charles had no choice (emotionally and monarchally) to marry princess Diana. Although raised to be very attention seeking ofc in a house of scrutiny yet praised from the entire nation and beyond, Charles grew up to love the attention and learn his values, what incorrectly is unsettling is his damage to Diana, game doesn’t mean happiness, and happiness doesn’t mean happiness, it could also mean burning narcissistic scowl behind it. Diana was ridiculed and didn’t deserve it, by all means the whole family is strict and cold hearted for the sacrifice of the monarchy to keep everything stable. Diana absolutely didn’t deserve any of Charles and that’s where he is WRONG!
@Sophie the one actuall fake one was the gift to Charles of remaking the frank Sinatra , the fight they had is very asusmabel considering around the time diana had enough confidence to tell of Camilla to explain that she knew what was going on, she heard such ruckus and screaming when Charles and his buddy went upstairs to give them the privacy. Another instance is from a former butler of some sort who follower her who she trusted for a long time, had a duty to say to Charles that theres suspicous evidence about Camilla that Diana didn’t know yet and Charles said “ can’t you lie?” And then threw a book at him...
It is better to go on separate ways when they don't love or prioritise each other anymore. Go and live happily with whoever you want to. That's my take in this matter. Remember to do it legally. Don't have illegitimate affairs.

People throw the word Narcissist to casually and Charles is not a Narc because Narcs have no empathy and are incapable of love. Charles clearly loved Camilla and Camilla was not marriage material and that is solely on the Queen. I think over time Charles came to resent Diana because she was popular and loved by everyone and Charles was not. They both made choices some good some bad but Diana was someone you could relate to she was a mother she had depression she had an eating disorder she was empathetic she was just a beautiful person inside and out. I think in the beginning Charles cared for Diana but in the end resented her.
Love is a mysterious thing. You cannot force someone to love just because the woman (Diana in this case) happened to be one of the most beautiful women of all time. I mean many men would but physical beauty and having a great rapport with the public are sometimes not what a man is looking for. Charles loved Camilla and we all know she was nothing compared to Diana. But even Diana, a heavenly beauty herself, couldn't win over her own husband. And there's also another lesson here that all that glitters is not gold. She wanted to marry a prince so bad but he was golden only on the exterior not the interior but there are men who aren't prince at all from the exterior meaning materially but they will treat a woman like a queen even though they don't have a lot of money.

Simply because Diana was the one to speak up and say that she wanted to save the marriage. If Diana had said that she wanted to end the marriage, the queen would most likely not have asked her that question.

i don't know how it happened but unlike most people this show made me understand and emphatize with the royal family. they're careful when they choose a spouse for the heir and they're even more careful to keep it stable for a reason; their marriages ARE of national importance. if a monarch can't make a marriage work, can't keep a household together how will he be the head of state? how will he help and unite his nation? without a leader like that the monarchy will seem entirely useless. so from their pov, the people that want to keep the monarchy, it makes perfectly sense. to most of us its superficial and unnecessary but not to them. to them its risking their end.

P power and a man more in love with her than she with him.....which if handled correctly, keeps a man hooked forever. I have witnessed three men ensnared like this, each by a different woman. It's incredible what men will do to avoid losing her. Highly similar to a substance addiction.

Exactly! The Queen and Prince Philip tried their best in order to help them. And they took Diana's side in the whole part. Unfortunately, her infamous interview caused one of the most hurtful scandal in the crown history and they had to step back.
When she died, they blamed them for everything, but the tree fact is they were suffering. Everybody in the royal family was suffering, felling guilty, hurt and worried with William and Harry! They didn't know what to do, that's the real truth :/

@@zitronenkeks9362 what I've been saying for years--that it takes two to make a relationship work or not.
It was the royal family's fault. They persuaded Charles to marry Diana even though he was in love with Camilla.
If it hadn't been Diana it would have been another young woman of similar background since he did consider a number of others prior to 1980.

No, she asked because Diana said she wanted her marriage to work.
There was an earlier scene where the Queen calls out Charles for the sin of adultery
@UA-camYT even if it's not a dramatized show, and they just happen to be two random couple discussing with the husband's parents and his mother asks this question, it's still wrong, and ridiculous, and sexist as fuck. she's broken her vows and she gets condemned for it, and Charles the serial adulterer gets applauded for it? the nerve.

It was very difficult for Diana's she wanted to stay in the marriage while Charles wanted a divorce. Diana loves Charles. Prince Philip was the sole party who had adored, loves Diana and hated Charles for separating WTH Diana. She was alone without the support frm any member of the royal family. So she has to leave. It was truly a very sad ending. That is why William and Harry will do anything to protect their loves one. Charles has no say because he nvr care abt his son's. Say what you will about Charles, but he was not the one unnecessarily dragging out this whole mess. He knew this marriage was over because he could never love Diana. They should have just listened to him. Diana should have listened to him. The fact that Charles still loves Camilla to this day is proof that he just did the healthy thing and wanted to be with the person he truly loves. Simply because Diana was the one to speak up and say that she wanted to save the marriage. If Diana had said that she wanted to end the marriage, the queen would most likely not have asked her that question.
Diana should have realized more quickly that she didn't want to be Queen. She married young and should have dated other guys more, until you find that match that you are comfortable with for the rest of your life. Love is priceless.
