I still miss him. Jim died way before I was born but I’m a huge The Doors fan and when I heard he passed I cried in my car. One of the few famous people I’ve cried for.
Ray was just too good and too cool. Ray and Jon Lord are such badasses, they were main members of serious rock groups who made keyboards/organs work flawless which is so damn hard to do.
The Doors were amazing. Yes, they were huge, but most of their history was during the late 60s, not the 70s. Most of their songs were lead singer Jim Morrison's poetry set to music written by the rest of the band: keyboardist Ray Manzarek, drummer John Densmore & guitarist Robby Krieger. The Doors rarely took the stage sober!! Jim Morrison was one of the most charismatic front men in rock history. He died in 1971 at the age of 27 (one of the infamous 27 Club). The rest of the band continued on as a trio for a couple more albums, but the magic was gone. The Doors weren't together for a long time, but their influence is still felt to this day. RIP Jim & Ray. Other Doors musts are Light My Fire (their biggest hit), The End, When The Music's Over, L.A. Woman, Riders On The Storm, Break On Through, Love Her Madly, Touch Me, Back Door Man, Twentieth Century Fox, Love Me Two Times, Moonlight Drive and Hello I Love You.
YES!!! SOME DOORS!!! My popz favorite band. So of course of grew up listening to them. Jim Morrison’s poetry lyrics and wild lifestyle, Ray Manzarek’s steady but crazy keyboard playing and Robby Krieger’s finger picking electric guitar playing! Definitely made for a unique band! Morrison was one of those people that are destined for fame but never seemed satisfied. When my father passed. The last song played at his funeral was The Doors song The End.
My all time favorite band. Still is. My little sister and I saw The Doors at Cal State East LA in 1965. We sat 4th row center. I was 14. She was 11. Unforgettable! There's a deep rabbit hole here...."The future's uncertain and the end is always near."
The ones on the stage who were nicely removed were out of their trees and probably having a Jim Morrison moment. He drove women crazy and guys really liked the music and swag. Lots to listen to with the Doors. Cheers from Canada
Very impressed with this live version, never heard before. And Robbie Kriegers solo, so crystal clear. Not a bum note. He is a legend of course, but I don't think he's mentioned nearly enough as he ought to be. What a musician.
You must watch the movie called "The Doors" Val Kilmer played Jim Morrison.. Val did an amazing job. Jim was high on various hallucinogenic drugs most of the time.
@@edmonahan6094 I'm a true fan, and I liked the movie... a little bit. Good entertainment, but I don't take it seriously. What disappointed me is that though it was called "The Doors", it was all about Jim; not the Doors. Ray, Robie and john, when they weren't being ignored, were made to look like goof-balls. THAT I did NOT like! I'm a fan of THE DOORS; not just Jim. But it was a cool drama; not to be taken as an accurate documentary.
No, not really. He did some acid before recording their first album, which is where all the songs came from. But Jim was an alcoholic, not a tripper. He rarely did more than smoke weed after the first year or so.
Love it when y'all react to songs you've never heard before. Especially these old rock songs. My parents had The Door's albums and I heard them quite a bit when I was a kid and listen to them now. Great stuff! Love y'all and the squad!
I’m 65. I’m a parent/grandparent and let me tell when we was young we tore shit up lol The Doors we’re my best friends favorite group. I could tell stories but we’d be here all night and might have a visit from law enforcement 😳😉😂

You have much more to explore from this group. Every album has major musical moments. I was lucky and got to see them just before they broke big. I saw them in a venue of less than 300 people for less than $3.00. There were no seats so there was much friendly milling about and dancing. It was wonderful. The girls were there to worship morrison but my friends and I were guitar god worshipers so they gathered in front of jim and we watched krieger...for a couple of songs and then we went into the back of the hall to play and dance with the hippy chicks...I think I said it was wonderful...
The Doors songs: 20th Century Fox, Back Door Man, Break on Through, Hello I Love You, Light My Fire, Love Her Madly, Love Me Two Times, Love Street, Moonlight Drive, People are Strange, Soul Kitchen, Crystal Ship and Touch Me. That will get you started.

Alot of people go to the well known songs from the doors .......you guys should listen to a song that doesn't get alot of play time.....the doors queen of the highway is a cool song with some killer lyrics
Yeah baby The Doors the vocal Jim Morrison 😍 the Legend forever the Lizard King. Die 27 years R.I.P React the song 👉 L.a Woman 👉 The End 👉 Riders on the storm 👉 Light my fire And more....
I was 13 in 1970 and in my bedroom The Doors were HUGE!! They were the biggest thing in America or in the world for their time they were only around a couple years though I loved them from the very beginning to the very end when Jim Morrison died at 27 years old, along with Jimi Hendrix at 27 years old, along with legendary blues God Robert Johnson at 27 years old, along with Janis Joplin at 27 years old, along with Amy Winehouse at 27 years old, and along with Curt Cobain at 27 years old.. they are known as the "27 Club" all great musicians and entertainers... try "Peace Frog" or "5 to 1" by The Doors... PEACE!!
*Kurt Cobain You are lucky you got to BE there during that time!! I've been into The Doors, hardcore, for 25 years, sino I was 14. They're THE best, and still ring true today, because of their brilliance!! I totally love your comment, but I wish some channel would react to, “The Severed Garden (Adagio)” too!! This one was a fun one to watch, though. I wish I could of been alive then!! I bet you have some stories to tell, lol! Merry Christmas, and take care of yourself!! Amanda Heath
I spent yesterday watching The Doors documentaries. 3 hours. So good even though I knew about most of it, one of them was new and sometimes you learn stuff you missed the first time.
Between the Doors & Led zeppelin a lot of old blues classics were covered in a style us youngin's could relate to & so we were educated to the roots of rock.
Shawn and Mel, I loved this video you did! Huge fan of The Doors and they have a very deep catalogue that you could probably have a lot of fun with. Your personalities are so upbeat and contagious! Please do some more Doors songs. I think you could have some fun with them with your taste and looking at them from an entirely different generational aesthetic. I could watch the both of you smile and delight to music all day. Very cool channel.
The Doors formed in 1965 in Venice Beach CA where Jim first met Ray. The hit it big in 1967. In 1971, Jim moved to Paris. Months later he was dead. If you want more information, watch The Doors documentary on Reelz channel. There are 3 of them to watch.
They were more of a 60s band. They formed in 1965. Hit it big with "Light My Fire" which went to #1 in 1967, from their first album. Their last album, L.A. Woman, was released in 1971. Singer and lyricist Jim Morrison died of heart failure in Paris in July 1971. He was a full blown alcoholic but didnt use heroin. However it is rumoured that he may have done some the night he died with his girlfriend Pam who was a known heroin user. He was 27 years old.
He was lit most of the time, he was a big fan of hallucenagens. I think he was big on opium.. I could be wrong tho.. great band tho. Have you heard Jeff Healey's version of this song?
You guys should check out the movie " The Doors ". BTW, Ray Manzarek was a classically trained pianist, Robbie Krieger a flamenco guitarist , John Densmore a jazz drummer.
IF you haven't done this one already, listen to The Doors version of "Back Door Man," written by Wilie Sixon, on their first album. There are numerous live versions as well.
The movie The Doors is based on the book No One Here Gets Out Alive which was Jim Morrisons biography. The movie is worth watching but the book is much better. Now listen to When the Music's Over because I want to hear the scream of the butterfly.
Actually it was based on John Densmore's book Riders on the Storm. Everyone thinks it was based on Sugarman's book because it was written first but it was Densmore's that Stone based the movie on. (Though I would argue at least 25% of the movie never actually happened or at least nowhere near in the way Stone presented it. I've seen the movie and I have both of those books.)
Please react to The Warning. Either XXI Century Blood, Evolve or Survival. Their new EP "May Day" is out. These are three girls from Mexico who are bring rock back. They also play their instruments. The lyrics are written by the drummer Pau. There lyrics are deep like Rush.
Jim was like Axl Rose in terms of controversy. He wasn't the vocal freak of nature that Axl is, but like Axl, you loved or hated him. He was a poet. He wasn't Bob Dylan, but no songwriter beats Bob Dylan. Bob Dylan is the greatest songwriter ever and the most covered.
different type of poetry then dylan... morrison was a symbolist. for large scape views on the culture, esp the west, morrison was as insightful.... jim was more dangerous and a threat to authorities then axl. he was also much more of an intellectual, aside from being a hell raiser. think a young brando or kerouac w/ a mic.
Yes. Yes. Yes. I could suggest so many songs but to simplify you should watch the movie "The Doors" and all the sounds and pieces will fall into place.💜💟#GOAT
Ray Manzerak is totally underrated, he is one of the best rock keyboardists of all time.
I still miss him. Jim died way before I was born but I’m a huge The Doors fan and when I heard he passed I cried in my car. One of the few famous people I’ve cried for.
Definitely!
He's THE best keyboardist in rock!
especially since they were like fisher price keyboards compared to todays instruments
