The hospital is literally my second home! I go every month for my "daily monthly checkups" Cause i have a muscle disease. It's called Dermathoymositis and basically, your skin turns a bit more pink/red, and you'll slowly notice your muscles becoming like stiff, and its hard to do normal things, for example: put on a shirt, pants, crouch, get out of bed, run.... And i'm okay now.
i have panic attack and stomach pains and so many issues that the hospital is literally my second home. i dont stay overnight but im there so often the nurses know me
Hey everyone! thought I would just answer a few questions that keep getting asked. 1. Q. What is wrong with me? A. There's a list of my diagnosis in my description but the main ones that affect me the most are: Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, Gastroparesis, Intestinal dysmotility & Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome. 2. Q. Why Am I in Hospital? A. Because I stopped tolerating my feeds ( I'm fed through a feeding tube because my stomach is paralyzed) and I lost a lot more weight and I could no longer sustain myself, I became very weak. So I was admitted to sort out my blood work & start TPN. 3. Q. What is TPN? A. TPN stands for Total Parenteral Nutrition and it basically is nutrition that goes directly into the bloodstream so it bypasses my faulty digestive system & my nutrition gets fed into a large vessel above my heart. 4. Q. Do I have an eating disorder? A. No, my digestive system doesn't work, my stomach & intestines are paralyzed & I can't digest food. 5. Q. Why aren't my nurses doing my medications & fluid charts? A. Because I choose to do them when I'm admitted! I like to keep my independence and it gives me something to do to pass the time. Also at home, I do all my medications etc so its good to keep up with doing them. So please don't disgrace my lovely nurses because they have been absolutely amazing & and do everything else for me. 6. Q. Why don’t they take blood from my Hickman line? A. Amy Lee Fisher I’m a nutrition student studying to be a dietitian and we just covered EN/TPN and we were told not to put powdered meds mixed with water into a tube, as they tend to clog. Is there a reason you do this over getting meds in a liquid form?
Thank you for acknowledging your nurses. As nurses we try to give all the autonomy the patient wants. After all is their plan of care after all. I hope you’re doing better, I applaud you for how strong and involved you are. Keep being strong.
Yes, I can't tolerate much liquid down my tube only 5-10mls at most, so if I was to get all my medication in liquid form it would end up being a high volume and I just can't tolerate it. So even though there is increased risk of my tube blocking I really can't do my medications any other way. Hope that makes sense! :)@@jdog321123
I feel like hospitals over there give a lot more liberty than those in the US. I’ve been in the hospital a few times for blood transfusions and surgeries. I’ve never been allowed to just wear my own clothes. I had to use hospital gowns the whole time. The nurses do all the charting.
lucy marie Sorry to hear that, but here in the US healthcare, just a ambulance taking you the hospital is around $2000 and just surgery alone here is VERY expensive here in the US lol 😬
@@m3g4n12 is right, it's mostly an insurance and liability issue. When I was hospitalized for my then-undiagnosed epilepsy disorder I had one of those giant red FALL RISK bracelets on, and if you have a fall risk bracelet they will absolutely not allow you to walk anywhere on your own unsupervised - not even to the bathroom (I know). You have to hit the call button and have a nurse or attendant push you in a wheelchair. It's all down to liability.
In the US they can’t force you to do anything. They might refuse you care if you don’t want a gown (highly doubt it). You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do!
I have medical issues myself and I’ve never really been respected by other people even friends. So I just want to let you know you’re such a brave and strong girl and you’re very inspirational! Just keep on remembering that! 😉
I have extreme anxiety to the point that I haven't been able to go anywhere except for work and even that is becoming a struggle. So, I just wanna say... Oh my God. You are a super hero, seriously. It Makes me feel like shit for my constant fear of dying when I was just told by the ER last night when I went that my vitals and blood work both looked perfect and yet I STILL think something is wrong.... You and so many others are going through the much worse than myself and tbh... This helps me feel a lot more humble. You're amazing.
Please if you struggle with anxiety go see a professional. Every illness is important, this isnt a competition on who has it worse and who doesnt. This is about doing somethig about it and not just letting it go, its about fighting.
In case you are interested I went on Wellbutrin for severe anxiety disorder, just two years after having no life for 30;years. I am almost anxiety free. I urge you to try it.
Anxiety is nothing too be ashamed of your fears are not your faults you’re not weak and you’re not being unreasonable you’re sick and that okay to acknowledge and it’s not an excuse it’s the truth and I wish the best for you , seek out a therapist if you can , professionals who understand you and what you’re going through will help you so much , take it one day at a time , one hour at a time , one minute at a time , one step at a time We’re all thinking of you
I knooooow right????!! Shes so damn calm and nice it scares me that I myself aren't sometimes....she makes me WANT to be nice, like actually want it for reals. 😊
Oh goodness, the hospital for me is like a second home for me.😅 I'm diagnosed with chronic ITP and basically it's a disease that effects my platelets, and platelets help us clot, and due to ITP my white blood cells attack my platelets. A person without ITP has about 150k platelets, I may range down past that mostly below 10k which is a danger zone for internal bleeding, it's a lot but I've been diagnosed since May (at age thirteen I am now fourteen) so basically eight months, it doesn't effect me as much as it did when it first started but it still effects how I want to be exactly. I'm starting a new medicine in order to develop new platelets so I won't have to go to the hospital frequently, it's a stressful thing to live with but I'm strong enough to get through it! I hope for the best for you !🙏🏼💜♥️ Edit: I'm back, from a whole year, wow.. it's been about 2 years since I've been with ITP and I am proud to say that I'm actually a lot better. I've changed my diet up just a tad by drinking a lot of water that has helped so much with me feeling better, I've been taking promacta now which is a pill or even a injection for some, which helps produce baby platelets for my body. Thank you everyone who has commented it really put a smile on my face to see that people have wished me well and even for some of my fellow people who has the condition or others who have something else. Thank you again, and please for everyone who sees this and even the commenters please stay safe during these times, especially if you have a weak immune system, ITP, and just IN GENERAL. I'm not saying times are easy right now, but we can get through this as a whole.♥️♥️♥️
I don't have ITP but I do have low white blood cells (1.25/10.00 I believe oof) and low platelets from something called severe neutropenia and i can relate heavily
I seen people who were sick for long they didnt have friends and that made me sad so God if I'm I ever too proud remind me to be humble. Wishing you recovery and always stay strong
I can’t believe you have to do your own fluid intake chart and even work out the output. The nurses do it all for the patients on our ward. Then again, it’s different for cancer patients I guess. I’m about to get my Hickman line on Thursday. I can’t believe how independent you are. It’s seriously inspiring for me. Despite our different situations, it’s relatable in a way.
She made the choice to do it herself . She wants to keep her independence and it gives her something to do during the day . she explained it in one of her comments .
Alright don’t attack me for it. I really envy her. I’ve totally lost my independence I need help getting up to the toilet so I’m just really surprised how well she choose in comparison to me
Amy really inspired me because I also suffer from an autoimmune disorder. It sucks. Currently rewatching her videos and it's already 4:14 am, can't help but cry. We miss you, Amy. Always in our hearts!
I hate when people are commenting saying ‘thats the nurses job’ I also self medicate myself in hospital as I am capable of doing it. Why waste nurses busy time when I know what Im doing and they already have so much to do. Its like when people press the buzzer for a drink of water people are just lazy and expect it because ‘ITS THE NURSES JOB’.
It’s nice to hear that I’m a nurse and I can’t tell you how many times I have patients get mad at me because I was 10 minutes late getting them a glass of water when they’re completely able bodied and I was late because I was in another patients room cleaning them up who can’t take care of themselves 😢
It’s nice to see how independent you stay while in hospital! So many people commenting about it being a nurses job to do all of that. Which is true. However, if you do all of that at home, it’s always best to keep your independence whilst in hospital too for your own health. I’d love to look after you! There wouldn’t be any work left for me to do 😂
Kaitlyn Wilkinson thank you! For all those people commenting I choose to do my meds and all the other stuff 😅 it’s good to keep your independence especially if it’s a long admission and your still able too 🙏🏼
I know what you feel right now and I admire how strong you are fighting for your health. I can imagine how hard it was being in the hospital as I also have been going back and forth to do my medication. Be strong girl! You're bravery is an inspiration for everyone.
This whole "better place" thing is overrated because there are at least 6 bn people who are in hurry to go to that better place. May her soul RIP though.

this reminded me of when i was hospitalized about a year ago for a infection after getting a surgery. i’m sure what you are going through is a lot harder but i remember how hard it was to stay positive and how lucky i am to be perfectly fine today but i’m really proud of you for staying strong ❤️
you are so strong, to have your illness must be just so hard and so unfair. do you feel despair I'm sure you do, do you show your illness who's boss, you betcha! everything is so English yet you are in Australia aren't you? don't fall off the tightrope love and best wishes☺😷💋👅
So brave, so open, the grace in which she lived thru her struggles inspires me to do better, stop taking life for granted I appreciate you Amy, your Star still shines
Over the past 10 years I've been chronically ill for various things and have been hospitalized for a up to a month and I complained the whole time with that said oh ve watched a few of your videos and I will NEVER complain again. You are so amazing. I cant say that I would have the strength to do everything you do everyday. You are an amazingly strong beautiful woman. Love & Hugs
I absolutely hate my hospital routine, the realization that I even NEED a routine makes me so sad, I'm trying to stay positive but it's so difficult. I look up to you for sure!
You're so beautiful and strong. Sometimes people don't realize how lucky they are for having things that are so "normal and basic" like good health, a house, a job... People just complains about everything. I've been thinking that throughout your vlog. I really admire you and I hope you get well soon. Love you!❤️
When I’m in the hospital my mom and I would just watch crime shows all day. For some reason every time I’m in patient there’s a marathon of some sort of crime show on lol
God I don’t think I could pass through all this and be fine mentally You’re so strong hope you can go through it all and still have hope and smile like that
@@inhaledexhaled5460 oh I know, I was talking about the hospital. It reminded me in the movie when a girl was in the hospital and it just reminded of the movie :)
What disoriented ass type of person leaves a dislike on something like this? Ugh, people are just so hateful anyways, you're so strong I hope you got well and you're feeling better!
Imagine having the energy and willpower to film yourself and explain how your day goes while in the hospital. I’m positive I would spend the entire time just feeling sorry for myself and tired. I sure as shit wouldn’t have the emotional energy to vlog. Kudos!
Ive been watching a lot of ya lately. It’s just a everyday life for you .... very brave and informative you are thank you for putting your life out there
I can't start the morning without tea either especially on weekends when I'm not too busy so it's not just a British thing it's an American thing for some people to
I think it’s impressive you write up your own fluid balance sheets and they don’t watch you do meds. Also does your hospital/clinic not use a pill crusher for you. I am so curious about your hospital/clinics.
K Williams where I work in Australia we encourage a lot of patients to do these things themselves especially in chronically ill patients as it gives them some control and independence :)
Where i am, unfortunately this would never happen. Leaving meds on a bedside table..big mo. Pts may self administer meds with MD order, but to maintain my license, i must observe. Same with feedings.
Thank you for doing this video, I feel like medical conditions and hospitals are such taboo topics that people don't talk about :) My sister was on TPN for about 4.5 years so she has been in and out of hospital all her life, but now she's started to tolerate feeds again. I'm seriously so happy that someone is making videos about this, thank you so much xx
the most annoying thing ever about being an in patient is the fact that ur either hearing wheels moving outside or (for me atleast) the nurses and doctors like ever two bloody hours come in to check my drip or vitals
Yeah and my doctors came in for rounds and were like sorry we missed you but you were asleep earlier and I’m like yeah cause it was 5 am and I went to bed at 12
I’m so glad I found your channel! I’ve been struggling with Gastroparesis, IBS, POTS, Fibromyalgia and a few more things since last December. I went from 130lbs to 95lbs in a month. I’m very lucky, and haven’t needed to be hospitalized for more than a day yet. I’m so close to losing hope that I’ll ever have a semi normal life, and I’m having a hard time coming to terms with my illnesses. Your positive attitude regarding your situation is incredible, and it was so wonderful for me to see someone else who is going through some of the same things. You are so brave for documenting all of this, so thank you for sharing your journey with us.
When she said at hospitals you get such dry lips... YOU DO! It’s crazy and sometimes you get nosebleeds because the hospital air is so dry! Omg Lol for me they came and drew blood at 3 am basically this was our schedule (Btw I go for mental health reasons) 3:00 am They come wake us up and draw blood. 5:00 am tell us to get ready 6:00 am We have to be up and ready for breakfast 6:30 If we aren’t up they come in and try again or they dock points off our chart (the points affect when we go home) 7:00 am We head to the day room/therapy room and get ready for school and get our menus to pick what we want for tomorrow’s breakfast, dinner and lunch. They also take our blood pressure and meds 7:30 A staff member comes and takes us to school (School is in room 123 and it was so small wtf?!) 8:30 We’re still in school 💀 12:00 We all go to our rooms and wash our hands take our meds and head to lunch (Children’s psych ward and the hospital lunch room is way different we get our own for our own block) 1:00 We head to our rooms after lunch for “quite time” (They have to clean everything up but they say we should take this time to relax also sometimes you’ll have a roommate but not everyone does) 1:30 We all go to the day room and watch movies, listen to music, read, color, talk etc. 3:00 We have therapy for whatever topic was that week (Changes every week) 4:00 Art 4:30 We get ready for dinner doing the same as we did before lunch 5:00 Dinner 6:30 Quite time 7:00 We head back to art 8:00 Little kids (3-11 yes in a mental hospital where kids go for suicide attempts and Ed’s and anger issues have 3-11 year olds) we go back to art 8:30 We go back to the day room eat snacks, watch movies, listen to music, read, color, draw etc. we also take our meds and blood pressure 11:00 Go to our rooms for “bed time” So that’s not absolutely everything single thing but it’s a lot.
Honestly when I was in a hospital for my suicide attempt they came in every 15 minutes and I finally get to sleep and then BOOM 💥 they unlock the door and check in
the 227 people who disliked are heartless Also more dislikes in what 2 hours thats so unhuman but your really pretty and i've always been like unaturally skinny, But who ever disliked are heartless and somethings wrong with them
Hi Amy you might not see this but hi! I have a chronic disease too and I swear I LOVE SITTING IN THE HOSPITAL SO MUCH ppl bring you free things and you can sit in bed all day and ppl dont say youre lazy i love it
This is my first time watching watching your video...and i just want to say i already love you. Your such a beautiful brave girl, your inspiring so many people. Please stay strong and happy. I wish you the best and only the best. Im a student nurse, and this video just made me love my role as a nurse even more as i get to care for such amazing people like you. Much love💕 hope everythings working out good for you😘
I’m so thankful with god that you are ok now. I’ve been watching your videos for a while and I started watching one of your last videos and I can see a big different between how you are now and how you were in this video. I mean you look so much better, you are not so thin (how you were in this video) you look really good and that makes me happy❤️ so many blessings for you! And never give up
I came up these video completely at random after watching a few hours of them i got very attached to this brave brave women. Only to find out that she recently passed away. My heart broke and i hope where ever she is she is now free from her illness and more happy then she could ever imagine. God speed you beauiful human whose life was cut far to short
I was inpatient on a children’s ward and I got to choose what I had for breakfast and I was in a room with 1 other girl and it was pretty chill I have to go back soon which is great ugh for chest pain xx
Omg your so pretty! I know it’s rough, watching your channel. Just remember your so strong, and beautiful. Inside and out! Also LOVEEE your channel, I subbed + turned my notifications on. 💕💕
Wow, as a nurse I really like to see how independent you get to be with your care, a lot of those things wed do for the patients in the US. Glad you're home now!
I think it’s really a blessing for me to come across your channel and see how inspiring and motivational you are for me. But honestly tho you are like all happy with all this happening and it makes me grateful😭💕.
You are such an inspiration for me and i know a lot of other people your so strong and just keep praying god will get you through what ever as long as you have him in your life ❤️
It seems silly to me, and always has, that hospitals serve skim or 2% milk to patients who really need whole milk. (Personally, I'd request vanilla almond milk as dairy and I don't get along) How is your liver responding? Holding up well now to the TPN?
Skimmed milk doesn't have anything added to change the taste, its a mtter of personal preference. I never liked milk as a kid and now only have it in tea or cereal occasionally ( i usually eat muesli with yogurt), but i can only drink semi, 1.5% fat in Sweden, milk. Full fat just tastes so much of the milk taste i hate and skimmed is like watered down semi.
They do skim and %2 because it’s easier across the board. You run into less problems with lower fat milk instead trying to please every single person, whether because of allergies or preferences. In this instance, it’s pretty typical for chronically ill patients to not handle the high fat in milk. It can actually make them sicker.
I can kinda agree to this and also not. It's not just sugar or the simple fact of whole milk (I do agree people should have that) but when I was in the hospital and even to this day I have to have watered down 2% milk or lactaid (it makes a difference but sometimes i still water it down) because it's easier on the stomach (I have acid reflex and gerd, my grandmother has cursed me). So that may be the reason is because it settles more than whole milk for it can be rough, but that may be a Dr.Mike question.
I was wondering about how her liver is doing too. My grandma had her 4th colon cancer surgery and she was sent home after 62 days with no opening from stomach to intestines and they put her on tpn, she still is. And her bilirubin is very high and her skin is yellow. When I heard that she was on TPN I automatically was like, I wonder how her liver is doing.
I had a PICC line in my arm for 3 months while I had chemo. I’m 21 and couldn’t imagine it being where yours is! Hospital became my second home as I had a blood clot 2 weeks after my last chemo treatment. You are so brave and I hope you make a good recovery 💕
So I just now discovered you and I scrolled through ur channel and you have no idea how exited I was when I heard you had E.D.S!! 😂 Me and my brother inherited hyper mobility syndrome from both of our parents. No serious conditions have come from it that we know of except for joint problems but there’s no going around that😂. I just thought that was cool but I also want to say that I am literally amazed by how happy you are!! Seriously!! You over here like, “yea, no big deal.” And I am over here, still upset that my cat stole some of my chicken wings over 2 months ago. To sum it up, you are freaking amazing and strong.. and I only knew of ur existence for around 20 minutes and Ilysm already.. not in a weird way though ❤️😂
As a nurse I have always hated waking my patients up ... thankfully we have implemented a sleep protocol where if the patient is hemodynamically stable for more than 24 hrs we defer most of the vitals signs and meds unless they are crucial.. This allows more sleep and rest which is honestly so important !
I have epilepsy and whenever I was in the hospital I had to take my medication without the nurses reminding me or helping me that’s something normal to do in hospitals because when you go back home you need to take all the stuff by yourself that’s why nurses or doctors show you how to take it and help you once or twice and then let you do it alone 🤷🏻♀️
Story time! (This happened to me when I was 10 I’m 12 now) So one week I woke up a couldn’t really breath that well. I went to the doctors and they said I just had a cold. I kept getting worse so we went back and I had Pneumonia… a sickness in your lungs. I came back with pills, shots, and liquid medicine. A couple days later when I didn’t have it anymore I woke up to not being able to move my lower back, hips, legs, and feet. I had to go in the ER and had Cat scams, blood work, etc. My CK ( something like that idr remember) was suppose to be at 100 but it was at 500. I had to stay overnight. I live in the USA but her routine was almost exactly like mine for the day in the hospital which i found crazy lol. BTW if you didn’t know pneumonia is a sickness that basically means there is liquid in my lungs making it hard to breath. My lungs were half way filled… remind you I was ten. Hope you enjoyed my story time!

:)@@jdog321123

lucy marie Sorry to hear that, but here in the US healthcare, just a ambulance taking you the hospital is around $2000 and just surgery alone here is VERY expensive here in the US lol 😬
probs bc u can sue them by saying they filled it out wrong even tho u did
Depends on the hospital I guess, cause the one I went to they don't care as long as you dont look filthy & they let people spend the night too.

Give you life to jesus he loves you

I hope for the best for you !🙏🏼💜♥️
Edit: I'm back, from a whole year, wow.. it's been about 2 years since I've been with ITP and I am proud to say that I'm actually a lot better. I'm not saying times are easy right now, but we can get through this as a whole.♥️♥️♥️
you're a strong person. bless you 😁❤
As another sick chick, I wish you all the best!!! I hope things improve you for you. Stay strong! 🎈🌸
Me to I have UC and it sucks
Cookie swirls God bless you I hope you get better❤️
I don't have ITP but I do have low white blood cells (1.25/10.00 I believe oof) and low platelets from something called severe neutropenia and i can relate heavily

Caitlin Wilde she chooses to do it herself :)
She made the choice to do it herself . She wants to keep her independence and it gives her something to do during the day . she explained it in one of her comments .
Alright don’t attack me for it. I really envy her. I’ve totally lost my independence I need help getting up to the toilet so I’m just really surprised how well she choose in comparison to me
Caitlin Wilde I don’t think they were attacking you, merely explaining x
Caitlin Wilde I had my Hickman line removed a few months ago (cancer reasons)
Amy really inspired me because I also suffer from an autoimmune disorder. It sucks. Currently rewatching her videos and it's already 4:14 am, can't help but cry. We miss you, Amy. Always in our hearts!
I hate when people are commenting saying ‘thats the nurses job’ I also self medicate myself in hospital as I am capable of doing it. Why waste nurses busy time when I know what Im doing and they already have so much to do. Its like when people press the buzzer for a drink of water people are just lazy and expect it because ‘ITS THE NURSES JOB’.
Charlotte Louise amen! 🙏🏼🙏🏼💖
PREACH!
as a nursing student and future nurse, THANK YOU!!
Exactly how do people expect patients to get better, they have to learn to do this stuff on their own at home once they’re discharged.

Why do Australians/British say in hospital while Americans say in THE hospital ? Confusing
I've always wondered the same!
Its just one of those things, no explanation..

@@haaayls How do you differentiate patients who appreciate the independence vs. patients who are purposely sabotaging their health?
Mme Popova and also patients who just want the company or have things like munchausens?
Mme Popova I guess it’s different in the area I work in. I work in cancer so most of them want their treatment and are more than happy to participate!

When she said at hospitals you get such dry lips...
YOU DO! It’s crazy and sometimes you get nosebleeds because the hospital air is so dry! Omg Lol for me they came and drew blood at 3 am basically this was our schedule
(Btw I go for mental health reasons)
3:00 am
They come wake us up and draw blood.
5:00 am tell us to get ready
6:00 am
We have to be up and ready for breakfast
6:30
If we aren’t up they come in and try again or they dock points off our chart (the points affect when we go home)
7:00 am
We head to the day room/therapy room and get ready for school and get our menus to pick what we want for tomorrow’s breakfast, dinner and lunch. They also take our blood pressure and meds
7:30
A staff member comes and takes us to school (School is in room 123 and it was so small wtf?!)
8:30
We’re still in school 💀
12:00
We all go to our rooms and wash our hands take our meds and head to lunch (Children’s psych ward and the hospital lunch room is way different we get our own for our own block)
1:00
We head to our rooms after lunch for “quite time” (They have to clean everything up but they say we should take this time to relax also sometimes you’ll have a roommate but not everyone does)
1:30
We all go to the day room and watch movies, listen to music, read, color, talk etc.
3:00
We have therapy for whatever topic was that week (Changes every week)
4:00
Art
4:30
We get ready for dinner doing the same as we did before lunch
5:00
Dinner
6:30
Quite time
7:00
We head back to art
8:00
Little kids (3-11 yes in a mental hospital where kids go for suicide attempts and Ed’s and anger issues have 3-11 year olds) we go back to art
8:30
We go back to the day room eat snacks, watch movies, listen to music, read, color, draw etc. we also take our meds and blood pressure
11:00
Go to our rooms for “bed time”
So that’s not absolutely everything single thing but it’s a lot.
Tvshowsareafantasy Andsoaremovies oh, that looks so strict...
Ammoniac it really isn’t
Ive been in those places as the same schedule and mine was for suicides I have been in 6 places.

It seems silly to me, and always has, that hospitals serve skim or 2% milk to patients who really need whole milk. (Personally, I'd request vanilla almond milk as dairy and I don't get along) How is your liver responding? Holding up well now to the TPN?
Chronic Butterfly I find that strange as well considering the low fat has so much more added sugar to make up for the taste that comes from the fat.
Defo do more videos similar to this ..mabey something’s like 20 things that we don’t know about you !! Or things that really annoy you xx

When I was in the hospital, they wouldn’t let me take my medication by myself ever :(
Story time! (This happened to me when I was 10 I’m 12 now)
So one week I woke up a couldn’t really breath that well.
Sunrise - Roblox I hope you are doing better now! 💗
