When it popped up, I was thinking WHAAAT??? That's got to be higher on that list! Not that it's easy to choose a performance, he really nails them all. He had so few lines in "Dunkirk", and his facial expressions and eyes relayed exactly what was going through the character's mind. IMHO. But Alfie... Both comic relief and horrifying nightmare at the same time!

This video is old, but his work in Legend & Taboo are also so solid. I mean, truly, when you watched him as the Kray brothers you really believe they are two separate actors/people. That takes so much talent!

his film LEGEND! plays two gangster brothers and gave an absolutely genius of a performance!
Now we have Tom Hardy in Taboo... which is one of my favorites of his. You get so lost in what he's portraying, that you forget he's an actor. He's insanely talented, and incredibly hot!
I'd put his Taboo performance at #1. That damn show from start to finish was amazing. Shame we've never gotten a season 2.

I really think his best performance was in Bronson. And its just like with Christian Bale in American psycho, those two roles define them as an actors, and the question is perhaps, will they ever top it, because its a masterpiece.

+Raziel that is interesting that you say it defines his career. For me it has to be Locke because the whole film was just him and voices on a telephone. I don't think any other actor could have captured the intensity of the film Locke as well as he did. As the credits began rolling I was invested in his character that it seemed like a shame that the movie had to end. That is one of my all time favorites. It was just Hardy in a car but he made the whole movie come alive and that was extraordinary. He is great actor. He is becoming great just like Gary Oldman. Gary Oldman is in a class of his own but Tom Hardy is definitely very close to being in that category.

However, only Tom Hardy can play Bronson, and his performance was explosive, energetic and chaotic just like Charlie is in a real life. You cannot see that he is acting, he is so natural in that role. Its like Pacino was born to play Michael Corleone, or De Niro to play taxi driver. Those are their high peeks of career and acting skills, and im sure Bronson is for Tom Hardy.
Just out of curiosity, but who else do you think could have done just as good of a job as Hardy in Locke? Bronson was a good movie and one of Hardy's best but the action in that movie can pull more audiences in just with the violence alone. Locke on the other as a previous commentor pointed out didn't get alot of play because it wasn't chalk full of action. That role solidified Hardy as one of the top actors for me. If it was any other actor I would've shut it off within 15 min. I'd like to see who you think would be capable of delivery as great of a performance.

I think his portrayal of Forest Bondurant was MAGICAL!!! His quiet, composed, and 1000% badass character was just stunning. I'm sure if Forest was still here, he would have loved this movie about his family and legacy. ❤
I gather this list was made before 'The Revenant' was released. He did such a great job in that film.

Bob saginowski was some of the greatest acting ive ever seen .... Hardy portrayed a very typical and normal and quiet person who was more than capable of instantly snapping into a cold blooded killer only when absolutely necessary .... the tension he brought in this film conviced me he's one of the greatest actors alive

Everyone forgets his role in the tv series, Taboo. Amazing stylish drama. Hardy was incredible. I cannot wait for the 2nd season. That part should of been on this list.
Has become my favorite new actor by far. Will watch anything with him in it. A phenomenal talent we haven't seen come out of Hollywood in far too long! My favorite role/movie of his was Legend. Should be #1 on list; especially as he played both roles of the Kray twins simultaneously!

Tom Hardy is the most versatile and talented actor of our times. I have watched all of his movies being Bronson my favorite. I saw the movie, bought the DVD, and bought three of his books. He is a super talented actor and right now I'm waiting for what he is going to give us next!

I think Locke is his number one performance I've seen. (Number 3 on this list.) Also his two roles in Legend are both fantastically well done - you can tell immediately which of the two brothers he is portraying in every case. His acting is remarkable.
I love Tom Hardy he brings the best performance in every movie and every character he ever played for a star film history my favorite character he played was Eddie Brock Venom throughout two movies sequels from the first Venom movie and Venom Let There Be Carnage.
I want to see more of Tom Hardy to play the same character down the road for Venom upcoming movies

Was about to say I was shocked that his mad max role didn’t make the list, but then I realized that this video was made two days prior to it’s release. I’d love to see an updated version :)
His perfomance as Alfie Solomons in Peaky Blinders is beyond excellent. Alfie was a character that you would hate with the things that he'd done to the Shelby Family, but thanks to Hardy's perfomance he became one of my favourite characters in the series. Couldn't even hate him in the last episode of Season 4.

Shame this was out before he played John Fitzgerald in The Revenant. Deserved a best supporting Oscar for that role.

The fact that the Tom Hardy can play a variety of different characters in multiple great movies fascinates me. But the audacity to not even mention “Legend”, even in the honorable mentions, is what killed me a little inside. I know other actors have done it before but to play twins of such different personalities in this great movie makes him my favorite actor of all time & I am sad that it was not in this video but all these are great movies involving & starring this great actor, & makes me want to watch most them in a binge
There so many other great performaces of him though that need a mention: wuthering heights, stuart: a life backwards, venom, mad max, the revenant... He is needless to say, a legend

Bronson is his best role to date. Tom Hardy is a very underrated, underappreciated actor.
For me, his role as Alfie Solomons AT LEAST should be in my top 5 his best performance. He's such a scene stealer in Peaky fookin Bloinders, mate.

I saw him in Band of Brothers, and due to his abilities, I can tell you I am only discovering him in films I've already watched. Not realizing he was in these films due to his abilities of characters. gREAT ACTOR.

+QAZAZZA He had quite a lot of lines in the last two episodes, but in the other 8 he was just a character that sometimes got seen in the background or walking across the frame. his name was Genovic if I remember correctly.

EVERY single role he plays is freaking incredible!!!! Don't forget Taboo. Looking forward to a second season!! My favorite character he's played.... possibly Tommy in Warrior. Phenomenal!!! No, wait, his character in Lawless.

i thought the best was the drop. i actually thought he was an American because it was first time i saw him.he can really do accents of all sorts.
+stormbringerr mourn His accent there was awful though. I only stuck around to the end because he's a great actor but the accent kept making me laugh/cringe. Not a Brooklyn accent at all! I kept wondering how Gandolfini let him continue speaking like that instead of helping him out.

i guess your from Brooklyn ? im in Texas and it sounded real to me. anyway i didn't say Brooklyn accent i said American accent. he does one in the revenant also that is very good. i just saw this movie.
stormbringerr mourn I know you said American but its just that the setting was Brooklyn and it sounded goofy. Yeah I completely agree that in other films that require an American accent, he nails it which is why i was surprised by The Drop. The revenant was amazing no doubt.

the grizzly attack in revenant made me cringe. i also saw legend, which is mainly only worth watching to see hardy portray both the kray twins. he carries the whole movie

When you do "another top 10 tom hardy performances" I personally think Alfie Solomons deserves to be on that one as well. I love that even he is one of the most noticed actors in the world he still evokes lead character energy the 5 minutes he comes around per season. One of the best.
You haven't seen Tom Hardy's best, unless you saw "Stuart : A life backwards"...
A compelling true story, that was produced for television by BBC... Tom delivered a heart wrenching performance.
This should definitely be on top of this list.... Don't miss it.

I LOVE Tom Hardy!! He can do or play ANYTHING - he's SUPER talented; like a chameleon and can adapt to any part...he's also drop dead GORGEOUS!!! I'm so glad he's finally being recognized after all these years!!

My favorite has always been Warrior. I love everything Hardy has done, but Warrior is such an underrated movie and Tom is so underrated in it. The way his tough- guy manner breaks down at the end gets me every time
How could you forget about Legend and Mad Max?? Those are so great.
most likely because although he's widely considered good in those roles the films themselves were terrible! Mad Max is an embarrassment to film making!

Mad Max was extremely lucky to have talent like Hardy and Theron in it.
i spent half my time laughing at it, didn't believe a single scene, which is the worst crime a film can commit .
jedaaa im 18 and have actually done courses on film and tv and worked with a director/film maker who also agrees so you know you can state your opinion but at the end of the day most people loved it because it was simply a master piece.
In the last 10 years? Where is the story? The whole film revolves around the Mel Gibson Max and special effects, it is one step up from the Star Wars prequels. Try movies like The Nice Guys, Sicario, John Wick, The Martian, Fury , The Dark Knight series, Inception, The Bourne Identity, the Kill Bill series, Django Unchained, Taken and there are many more that trump Max Max: Fury Road.
