This has got to be the best review ever of this truck. This thing seems like it is very tough. After seeing this review I'm going to buy one of these. It seems like it's well worth the money. You're beating the crap out of it and it's still going... Keep up the good videos and I'll keep watching. I like videos just like this it really tests the cars out.
I own the previous model, the 3100a. I did some upgrades, got it traxxas tires…brother that thing is so smooth! I compared it against a Mojave grom and quite frankly the 3100a was easier to handle on packed dirt. 👍👍
This is exactly what I need. My JRXT and Mini B sct doesn't do it for me and I've been wanting to sell them for a Mohave Grom. You had me sold at solid axle even before I saw how fun and durable it is. WOW
That thing is sick! Definitely needs some shock oil and tuning, but i can't help but love HBX. They are my absolute favorite "cheap rc" company. Those things are indestructible! We always bring our 1/16 MT when we go out bashing. When all the others break, we still have the HBX to break out!
@@disciplinerc I agree! I've seen UDIRC in shops lately so i think it's getting there. Funnily enough though, we've had the older 168890A and the newer 16890SA (the one with a separate ESC and Reciever) for a long time at this point. We haven't broken ANYTHING besides the rear wing or wheelie bar. It's been better than any other RC we own, and we have A LOT of rcs!
Ok, now you're making me want to put my 3100A back together and throw a gyro on that bad boy! Solid review and great to see a v2.. hopefully that means more parts availability 🫡👍
That was fairly impressive- YOU BEAT THE CRAP out of that little guy lol Hobbywing components are also a YUGE plus as are replacement parts. Thanks for posting. Cheers dude!
I love these little RC cars the only problem with them is parts availability. More often than not they are more funnerer than name brand I just wish I could buy parts and have them within 2 days. Great vid as always Aaron. RC on. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
It's a UDR Grom! Only thing it needs it to break every time you drive it. Gonna be a hard pass for me tho. There's no way I could have a truck and not know what color it is. Total deal breaker there. Looks like a ton of fun though.
@disciplinerc Thanks! Can't wait! One question: What is the diameter of the tires, and what size is the hex for wheels? That's the first thing I'm changing. I really don't like the low profile tire and big rim look. I want the opposite. Smaller wheel bigger tire. Thanks again!!
The front shocks do NOT NEED THICKER OIL!! I have one too you need to take out the sway bar in the rear cuz it kicks it around instead of absorbing it and the front shocks have too much oil for the little amount of shock body there is and other than that it’s just small and is easy to wipe out with how small it is.
Is the website for this truck safe to order from? It has a low trust score. And I had wanted to know how they ship this truck like through fedex or usps? Cause on the website it just says free smart post
Yes.. it came with everything except the gyro.. also there was only a red version available.. this company offers like 3 or 4 different colors and the gyro
i was actually gonna ask you about the mojave grom a while back because i knew you made a post about it but i kinda figured either you put it on the backburner or you did somn stupid like throw in 6s and broke it 😂
Yup bounces around & flips like a 1/16th scale lol Anything over 30is good in my book ill wait till its on lightning deal 🤷♂️maybe not hope they start selling this receiver lol
So why get this over something with fully independent rear? Is there a racing class with locked or solid axle trucks? I'm pretty new to this, I only started looking into this hobby because of RC's from Chinese brands I found by accident. The only places I could even find anything with even proportional controls as a kid/teen were stores that only had Traxxas and stuff that cost as much as some of the actual cars I bought to drive to work for years, so I gave up on it for the last 20 years until I found out HBX, MJX, SCY/JJRC, ect Existed. I saw reviews like yours when I looked them up and I got my kid a JJRC and a SCY (off road versions) to get our feet wet with these kinda cars... And now I feel flooded with way more cool choices than a responsible budget allows. It feels like I accidentally opened a very fun, but not free, floodgate.

All me, that's why they take forever. 2-3hrs to shoot, then about 2-4hrs for the first cut and about an hour per minute of footage for the second cut. It's a labour of love 😅👍

so im trying to decide between a mojave grom and the HBX. I like the HBX for a whole host of reasons over the Mojave - despite the fact that the mojave is probably a better car all around (objectively) However, my biggest gripe with the HBX is of course...parts availability. I don't even seem to find parts on Aliexpress for this thing...like where do you even get parts for this? It doesn't seem to exist. Any input would be greatly appreciated DRC!
No. You could try to mash in a differential that would match the input gear teeth and then make some custom axle shafts, but it's alot more work than it's worth 😅

Gyro is interesting, the solid rear axel made the "V1" super squirrelly

Every HBX truck we have is bouncy in the back. Constant struggle to settle those rear ends down.
