Hey ! Sam here, thank you for answering my mailbag entry, it means a lot to me, I appreciate the ideas and I've definitely got the itch to play soloqueue now, after talking with my friends about my level of play. You definitely hit the nail on the head with being the 'Highest elo' player in my friend group, that was a major part of my toxic ego that gave me that ranked anxiety. Thanks for everything you do guys

5:25 in 1954 Sir Roger Bannister ran the one mile under 4 minutes, it was believed to be impossible and many said a human heart would explode if it sustained such an effort, but shortly after him many more did it and now it's a fairly common time.

Hey Curtis! Been listening to your content since your Ryze guides 3 years ago and just discovered this podcast, loved the one with Gamerdad, he was a super great speaker and had some wonderful stories. I'm sure you've heard that ex pro player xFsN Saber quit the game, citing the state of damage and its impacts on his role's micro skill expression. I know you two don't specialize in his role, but you seem to have a good grasp of the state of the game as a whole, and I want to know what you guys think of the problems he spotted. Doesn't have to be a full episode but you guys could maybe cover it in a small part of a bigger episode.

19:00 this is such a strong concept I learnt from blue lock. I can't remember exactly what they say, but it's something odd but still a good way of putting it. It's like, a bird shitting on you is bad luck. But you set up for that luck, by being outside, maybe seeing birds around and not caring, etc, and that's what enabled it. You need to enable good luck, just as you can enable your bad luck.

This weekend I had a friend who wanted to grind out the summoner icons for the current quests riot has out for the soul fighter event. Some of them require really troll stuff like Banshees Viego so we did it in a bot game.
Naturally I was just brain off playing but as I started to hit the wave at level 1 the tryndamere player in my lane stopped moving and clearly started typing to me with some accompanying question mark pings. I have chat off and really didn't care so I just shoved the wave into the tower to farm the bots + plates. 15 minutes later the game was over with me being a very fed samira.
The trynd added me after the game and demanded to know how much I bought my account for. When I told him it was mine and I made it years ago he started quizzing me on old abilities that had been reworked. He refused to believe that someone who pushed the wave level 1 in a bot game could be Emerald. When I started to answer his questions correctly his ego couldn't take it and he quickly removed me from his friends list.
Was a really strange experience. Some people have extremely warped perceptions of what players that are higher ranked than them are actually like.

1:05:13 to answer why ranked flex exists, I believe its to give people who enjoy trying in league woth their friends. I queue with friends often in norms and we are a 5 man. We might as well queue for ranked flex with how much we are trying to win and get a fancy rank out of it. In short playing for something other than just playing the game.

People see professionals at their worst and assume if the pro has their worst game or a very poor game then they themselves (the nonpro ) at their best could win a game off them. The reality is when you see a pro have a bad game it’s most likely due to the pressure their opponent (likely a better pro) is applying. Most recreational athletes would not have the skill or athleticism to apply enough pressure to a professional to force them into playing poorly. If you can’t apply enough pressure to get a pro off their game you’re just banking on them beating themselves. If you told me a pro tennis player was going to serve it into the net at an absurdly high rate and give away free points then yea… an amateur could win but what are the chances? Not to mention pros make adjustments based on how they’re playing. Even if a pros serve was off they could adjust and it would be on the amateur to capitalize on the weaker/less risky serve.

after a 6 block of losing, you’re likely to go on a 3 win streak. then start 50/50
    (assuming you’re at your rank)
that’s cause of MMR. when you lose B2B2B you’ll face guys who are below your level. your impact will increase and you’ll likely win easier.
when you win a lot you face better players and your impact is lower. you can’t make the game a 4v5 by stomping your lane anymore.
it’s really intuitive that that’s how it works. emotions aren’t intuitive tho. and losing games can make you emotional and play worse.. so
there is a losers que. but it’s a mental thing, not a Matchmaking thing.

I noticed that the jungle changes make it easier to gank bot on red side so if I play mid and I’m on red side I will play to hit 6 shove the wave in and look for that roam bot side to help get first drake or just force pressure to get reset timers , it’s not always about showing up and taking a 3v4 and getting a quadra more so showing your teammates in low elo your willing to help them will give them more confidence as well how ever if the first try goes badly I wouldn’t flame I’d rather just stick back to winning my lane or looking for objective control with my jungle , you have to find where you fit in to the equation if your bot dies every game early maybe you’re part of that team as well and should be looking to turn that into an advantage for yourself and the other players on your team

All mastery points and mastery level do is just show you are experienced with the champion as about 15-30 games gives ya Mastery 5 on Summoner's Rift. This is according to Riot themselves and yes losses are counted in that so at the most 30 games, but mastery points also depends on the grade you get at the end of the game as if you always get something like a D- it will take longer than 30 SR games
AT MOST even if you a terrible with bad grades on the champion most of the time probably around 60 games. But if you are playing with friends you literally get more mastery points per person in your party which is why a lot of people can have mastery 7 within a day of a new champion coming out

the very first segment of the video kind of spoke to me lol. i have 300k+ mastery points on ekko and he is easily my most played champion. at some point, about a year or so ago, i got completely disillusioned with the champion because i mained him in mid instead of jungle and thought that he was too hard to make work, so i completely stopped playing him. i had a complete mental breakdown. i played roughly 600 games across 80 different champions during the first split of this season. naturally, i'm hardstuck silver. i've come back to the game for this split and i'm starting over again with ekko and trying to find one other melee mid laner to play as well so i don't fall into the same trap again. not sure how it's going to go this split, but i'm watching these episodes and trying to commit to the process, so i guess we'll see.

It’s insane to watch him play he does not buy boots, he ONLY uses his mouse to click abilities, level up abilities etc. dude actually CLICKS THE ABILITY ON HIS INTERFACE. He clicks the back button on interface (that most probably don’t even realize exists) rather than pressing b. It’s wild.

I slightly disagree on the high champion mastery but having to reevaluate everything, but it is entirely because I climbed to mid gold (before the added ranks made it significantly easier) on one champion and stopped playing becaus of various reasons mostly due to real life, I now actually refuse to play that champion in ranked because first I played them when they were very broken and I will never get the same feel they had when they were broken. But also because I have the mental that I have to prove to myself that I can climb there again without my strongest champion

the thing with the mastery points is lacking something. MMR is such a huge part. lets say a player is bronze 4. he wants to be a riven main. now he plays riven for 2 seasons and gets 1 million mastery points and while doing that he got to silver 1. now he still has a very low rank but defintely he got better. now he has an mmr of silver 3 probably. at thsi point he needs +60% winrate to climb even higher. in other words MMR in a way caps your skill.

    • @anniekujo
      @anniekujo 9 місяців тому +1

As an emerald player, this is partially true. It depends on your previous rank. If you were gold/plat last split or last season, then emerald shouldn't be a problem for you. If you were silver or below, then it's gonna be a difficult journey. For me going from gold to plat (last season), was a really hard journey. In gold a lot of the people didn't have any macro at all, at plat most people knew about wave management, resets and how to close out leads (even tho not everyone has the same skill set, those where the most basic things everyone knew in plat). So I had to learn a lot to get to plat. Can only recommend playing a lot of ranked and vod reviewing your own and high elo games.

Not only this, but they can also conceivably(and easily) scrape all of the transcripts of the videos as well, and create their very own AI Broken By Concept crew to chat with(would be a shit fuck ton of tokens though, but that's fine; cloud computing... Just have thousands of AWS instances all hosting the Broken by Concept AI. The understanding of the data point about tennis is not correct.
It's not that people believe they are some what close to the level of a professional.
It's the same data point of a regular person believing they could get a hit off major league pitcher.
Score a point in a tennis match.
    Solo kill faker in mid.
The data point collection is that yes, I could kill faker, I could get a hit off a pitcher, I could score a point in tennis.
Not because I'm amazing at any of these, but because if I was able to attempt it 1000 times, or there was 1000 people attempting it one time each. I or somebody of very little skill would succeed at the task.
That's where the statistic is pulling from, and people misconstrued the data. If you asked somebody, can you score a point in tennis, the first question is how many tries do I get.
Which means they believe given enough tries, they'd eventually score just one single point.

Although people can create content using GenAI using your voices, they have no legal claim to it as you guys own the copyright to yourselves and your original content. The legal battles are ongoing right now, but as much as possible we should push back against GenAI with the way it's currently used. As it is, it's just another way for corporations and thieves to grift $ from regular Joes making a living without any compensation to them.
Even something as little as not using it and endorsing it on an individual level goes a long way.
Also GenAI cannot take over the world as it's not alive and cannot individually think for itself. It's applied statistics using data. Not that far different from being targeted with ads based on the data of your browsing habits, just that it has millions and billions of data scraped without permission and compensation to the creators of said data for now.
