Man, you deserve credit. 👏 You were almost prophetic. Jannik winning his first slam so soon today was a wish even most of us Italian fans could only whisper so softly for fear of jinxing it. First Italian in history to win an AO, second to win a Slam. Amazing feeling. The season has just started and anything could happen, he just has to stay humble, keep working hard and focus on the next ball.

Beating Novak and Daniil Medvedev one after the other to win the AO was fantastic. Plus, he won in 5-sets in the finals. As well, I thought the Australian audience really embraced Sinner, they gave him a tremendous ovation for his win.

It’s like he is enjoying breaking all’ the doubts and bad stats. He won in a comeback from 2 sets below. He demolished 5 top-5 in 3 matches-Rublev in 3, Djokovic in 4 but no break points, and Meddy in the end.
Uhm… now it’s time to see how his forehand works either way, clay. The slice serve could be a massive power.

Maybe you wanted to say "second Italian man in the Open era" (1968 onwards).

I'm Italian. What I adore most about this guy is not just his technical skills but everything else: his maturity, humility, and intelligence. @tomponstone Oh, really? You know, the internet is a thing nowadays, so look it up and find unbelievable Novak's wins when he was younger than Siner is today. In three consecutive matches, he beat the top three players, of course, two of them being Nadal and Federer, and in all of those three matches, he faced his opponents' match balls. I belive it was in Montreal 2007 or 2008.

@@abuser-ex5be2gm7 He definitely has a chance, if not a good chance to win one of them. I sincerely doubt Novak will win all of them even though that would make my year. Anyway, Sinner has the game to easily make it to the semis of 3 slams next year, and he just needs to maintain a high level for 2 matches from there on out to go all the way. If there are upsets in the draw and he gets an easy semifinal match, then he has an even better chance. Easy as it sounds? Of course not. But absolutely doable.

    • @abuser-ex5be2gm7
      @abuser-ex5be2gm7 4 місяці тому

i dont think there can be easy semis on gs next year . and to make 3 semifinals in 1 year It's a tough task, who makes 3 semifinals besides Djokovic? Sinner got talent , but he is not physically strong enough to play so many matches in a 5- set format in a row . Look at this year GSs , he lost 3 of 4 5setters , zverev , tsistipas and altmaier knocked him out of gss in 5 set . and it wasnt even semifinals . on wimbledon he got easy draw and no 5setters and no chanses against nole in semifinal . Physics matters in 5 sets, and physics is his weak side compared to other top 10 players @@raymondfan2402

On on side an advantage to Djokovich since still they can be beaten by some raw player making Noles draws easy as well. Nole of course will easily adapt to him as he did with Carlos in few more.

I write from Italy. I want to compliment you on how you analyzed Jannik's story and his potential. For me, adding the quality of the two fundamentals (forehand and backhand) is equal to Djookovic, both superior to all the others. Jannik maintains the same intensity in the exchanges, which is why the others have difficulty, he doesn't give them breathing room between one shot and another. Alcaraz suffers particularly from Jannik's tennis because he doesn't allow him to play his variations. I also believe that Jannik will complete himself in 2025, and I am sure that he will fight for all the Majors for many years.
    Greetings

He’s been super solid, but what I noticed at the start of last year is his physio has improved, and he is more consistent. He has out his game and physio together. Now it’s to develop consistency over best of 5 sets over two weeks during slams. That is a big leap. We haven’t seen other great players hyped like Tsitsipas and Zverev make that leap. But what Sinner has that those two don’t, his game is more favorable. He is naturally more consistent and is a purer ball striker. If he is fully intent on succeeding at the highest level, he will be there. His biggest rivals are Medvedev, Djokovic and Alcaraz. To be considered in that group, I’d say he is will on his way!

The only thing I am not with you are the words of Adriano Panatta.
After what we saw on Australian Open, I think he is right.
Nole is the most impressive tennis player in tennis history, but he's in the sunsert road, due of his age.
May be not this year, or not in 2025, but I don't think he can stay were he's.
Not just because Sinner, but Alcaraz, Rune, Medvedev, Tsitsipas and may be Shelton too, in this year and the next one will take the lead.
And that doesn't take anything away from Nole enormous contribution to this sport.

    - The 2023 2023 Canadian Open Masters is where he finally won his biggest title just short of his 22nd birthday.
    - After Canada he had letdowns at the Cincinnati Masters and USO.
    - He stepped it up big time the rest of 2023 beating Alcaraz & Medvedev in Beijing, Rublev & Medvedev in Vienna, Djokovic & Medvedev at ATP Finals and Djokovic again in Davis Cup.
    - His mental toughness has been huge.
    - If he stays healthy he’ll definitely win a Grand Slam in 2024.

the fun fact is that of course sinne has fitness issues but clearly are issues of development and the fact that he is a late bloomer it's way he's doing good later in the 2023 season plus sometimes his allergies had a toll on him, instead alcaraz injuries are way more worrying because he already have injuries that a lot of players has late in the career, by the way I hope they can still both have an healthy career because a rivalry between these 2 guys it's what we need after the end of the FEDAL, anyway since i'm italian i'm routing for jannik, but man I love the way alcaraz plays

@@M4V35 Yes, looking forward to the rivalry between Sinner and Alcaraz plus Rune is also back. The trio will hopefully give us many years of great tennis and competition.

Sinner has improved leaps and bounds and I expect him to have a great 2024 but let's not forget that indoor hard is likely his best surface- he won't crash and burn like FAA but please remember this as we head into the next season.

Exactly. I think, like anybody else at this point, that Sinner will win a Major. Not sure this must happen in 2024. I expect a great comeback by Alcaraz and Medeved that did not close the 2023 in their best form. And Nole, well, he's Nole.

It is already very well documented that generalists are way more successful than those who early specialize. The problem is that the media loves to portrait those early genius as the way to go. It is not.
