the comeback from sinner started at 5-1 of the second set. Not later in the third! At that point is when sinner figured out the counter strategy to medvedev, and I doubt medvedev was tired after one set only. It didn't even take 2 sets for sinner to figure out a strategy... truly impressive

for all my lifetime there was a belief that italy would need decades to improve his youth tennis and get a man at the top spot. this guy came out of nowhere, barely playing at pro level, but it was clear that he was special when I started keeping track of him at 17. he had a special talent that nobody in the italian roaster had despite the talent we developed.
we knew he had the tool, we hoped he could do well without succumbing to the pression of the country, but my god he is speedrunning his career. he got a bit lucky with nole but he is really playing outstanding tennis since early Dec.
Go 🥕, italy really needs new symbols now that valentino and all our football legends retired. Paris here we come!

I have an Italian background from Australia. Look i love Australian athletes but I always wanted to follow an italian athlete.
I been following jannik for 4 years since he was an 18 year old.
I said many times were looking at greatness. When i furst saw hom play i just said theres an aura of roger just calmness and humble his style of play reminds me of novak but better. I mightvsounf bias but when i see something rare and speacial im with it all the way. Theres more tittles and grand slams to come.
    It is only the beginning.
    Forza Sinner

Thank you! Just the analysis I was looking for. That win was so well-deserved by Sinner. And since you mention Holger Rune, his versatility and return game put him in top-3 easily, but his mental game is still his greatest opponent. Give him another 12-18 months to mature and ... boom.

I also think Zverev has it in him. The level he played vs Alcaraz was so good. Too bad his serve failed vs Medvedev at key moments. He would have been a huge danger for Sinner in the final. Great first GS title for Sinner. Wish him to keep improving and winning more titles in a healthy rivalry vs the other big guys.

Although Sinner lost the second set 6-3 he was 5-1 down in that set so he hadn't given up in fact he was coming back even then he won those 2 points successively, he had one break chance in the 3rd set & took it the rest is history Medvedev tired and his game deteriorated as Sinner's game improved.
Sinner made it extremely hard for himself as his 1st serves were below par
