Many of the greatest artists were severely flawed individuals...those flaws were same that gave way to the genius. Probably why they never last...Cobain, Morrison, Staley, etc. Travis's mastery of the acoustic guitar is awe-inspiring. I dream of being able to play his songs half as well....give me 5 more years...
I saw them in 99 on the green tour. After hundreds of shows since, big and little names, they were the best live music I have ever seen. Travis is a brilliant musician and vocalist, I can only hope to play half as good as him someday. Addiction is hell, I've been there many times with him. I hope he gets his life back.
Travis Meeks is a true musician. His mastery of the acoustic guitar and his amazing voice have made him a star without the help of MTV. I never saw a single one of his videos on that peice of shit network! Travis proved that he didn't need their help anyways. If only he would come up to Pennsylvania to do a show. I live in Philly so I have never had the privilage of seeing him perform live other than in these videos of his live performances. Thank God for youtube! Travis rocks!
Does it really get any better than that ? That's not an easy song to play. Or sing. And to effortlessly do both with some hs strings players you just taught the music to.. get outta town. That's a composer
the original 4 members are getting back together. i'm from their hometown, and everyone here is pretty excited. i sure hope they can put the past behind them, and get back to creating some of the best music ever recorded.

This band was so kick ass. I often wonder what happened to them. But i think I know. I think they started writing songs the way the record company wanted them to write them. Like that enemy song.
Truly one of the most underrated creationists ever to walk the earth...
Without a doubt
wow.... just fills that room with power
This was filmed on the day that Layne Staley died

This is fucking insane - my favorite DOTN tune by far - first time I've ever heard this version.
Roughly a day before Layne Staley died, I just realized
Travis doesn't need "Auto Tune", he has real vocal skills!

Damn meth destroyed him. Would love to see a turn around but he hasn’t gotten there yet. Praying for him. He is simply unmatched.

This video was recorded by Alan Steele ("Yokostono"). Alan videotaped several DOTN shows around this time (thanks!!)...
Such subtlety and nuance. This is the kind of performance that most musicians strive for their entire lives...and never achieve.

Awesome! Love this version
He's a Van Zandt self inflicted type of person. He never could get over himself.
The dude struggles with mental illness.
