This also doesn't feel real to me with Nintendo's past treatment of Paper Mario, yet here it is, sitting on my Switch home screen, awaiting release date to play it
It’s crazy because I preordered a physical copy. I still can’t believe it exists. Keep saying I’ll believe it when it’s in my hands.
Thank you for all the exp over the years.
The main thing Im looking foward to this game is actually the artstyle. Feels like the perfect balance between a fully made up world made of paper without denying the identity of the world.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed modern PM art-style, but this feels more like an actual world made of paper than a giant diorama.
Almost feels like they had to get all the weird restrictions out of their system with Origami King, and now they can embrace what worked in the past while also modernizing it. If Thousand Year Door actually manages to be the best selling Paper Mario on Switch that would be insane. Feeling pretty optimistic going into the next generation overall
Unfortunately it's very unlikely that they'll lift their restrictions. They're doing The Thousand-Year Door because they're going through their GameCube library and it's one of the few games that will sell well. It being a remaster is the only reason we're still getting characters like Toadsworth.
@@amadeus.7436 toadsworth was literally in super mario sunshine. they have no reason to be stingy with him
@@tripleaaabattery8480not to mention how he was in almost every Mario and Luigi game and some of the Mario sports games
@@tripleaaabattery8480 Because that's also from the GameCube era. They don't use Toadsworth anymore outside of remasters or cameos in something like Smash Bros.
That clay game might actually be a good idea for a mario rpg 2 art style
My wife really doesn't like turn based games. She loved Origami King tho, like a lot, so she's excited about TTYD.
I already told her it's not quite the same, but that I like TTYD more, so we'll see, I hope she loves it.
bro is smitten (me too)
Please sell well ong
Pretty sure it is already just on preorders alone 😊
@@likenoother6561 Nintendo cancelled the pre-orders (I think)
@Scribble2345 Amazon canceled, and Walmart, but not others. I still have mine from gamestop. I think it's supply and demand they didn't send enough to meet the preorders
Ive already bought it from the eshop and have it predownloaded I'm so PUMPED
@@shadisnotamused also the fact that both have a history of breaking street dates
since the start of the switch era, nintendo has simply just started listening to us, there's just no denying it anymore. they care what we think if we are vocal enough about it.
Hope this game sells so damn well they actually go back and make a true Paper Mario sequel. Back to basics turn based Paper Mario.
Unscriptendo's are my favorite
I am so excited for Thursday!
Let’s hope this gets enough attention to get a proper paper Mario sequel
I think Paper Mario with TTYD's battle System and OK's level structure and world design, with a blend of both games' story telling design would be just about perfect.
And though i prefer no white outlines, that little white edge on the characters that shows on one side is just about a perfect compromise. It adds more depth and contrast while also not being distracting.
I would like Nintendo to push out a little update on the TTYD preloads directly on midnight release which changes the home menu icon of TTYD to a color splash port
Now, that would be funny 😂
Aside from TTYD, my second favorite was color splash, I really liked the gimmick with the battle system, but I did not like the battle system in Origami King at all.
I'm still hoping for a Paper Mario 64 release (and in the back of my mind, hoping that the Switch 2 or whatever it is can run this game at 60FPS- and other Switch games too for that matter). That said, this really is shaping up to be the best version of this game. The 60FPS thing... like I said I HOPE that the Switch 2 lets games run in a higher framerate and/or resolution, but this is a turn based RPG with some action elements, not a full on platformer. 60FPS isn't exactly critical to have solid controls of a game like this, like it is for a game like Super Mario Bros on the NES.
You know what I think would be a perfect change to Mario Party? Tell us what the random "bonus star rewards" are going to be given out for at the START of each game, not at the end! Heck, it could reveal one new one every 5 rounds for all I care, but there's no way to strategically play around those bonuses if we don't even know what they are when the end of the game rolls around.
Got my confirmation today... My copy has shipped!
It's not entirely un-Nintendo to do things people ask for. Some years ago, after the release of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D for 3DS, many people (including myself) begged Nintendo to also release Zelda: Majora's Mask for 3DS and eventually it happened.
Can't say for sure if this was because fans kept asking for it, or if it was purely for profit, but it happened.
That said, I agree to what you are saying here. I've been dreaming of a remake of an old Paper Mario game for many years, but I always thought Paper Mario 64 would be the first in line. Having Thousand-Year Door coming to Switch is among the most unreal things I've seen in recent years, and I can't wait to play it.
This feels like we're in the best case scenario universe, that we are getting such a perfect remake of the long ignored fan favorite
Also I will buy this game twice I swear
Controversal take: My sister likes Colour Splash and Sticker Star best and Super Paper Mario. But then RPG style is super hard for her......... But she plays the others just because they are Paper Mario and she loves the series :D
This needs to be supported. We need more proper paper Mario games and Nintendo needs to understand there is a huge appetite for it
I spent €165 on the gamecube version in may 2023 before the remake was announced. And I also preordered the switch version now.
But given how much the price has dropped on the original since the announcement, I could've bought the switch version with the price difference and still have spent less than this €165.
Oh well. Anyway I'm looking forward to it. It really looks amazing.
I can’t believe how much new music they’re adding to this game. That’s what’s REALLY catching me off guard
I have this game locked through gamefly note this isn't an advertisement for gamefly for those that don't know if you have the elite tier for game fly like 2 elite games at a time you can rent out 2 games at a time with 2 game locks of future releases and if you send back a game in your Q and have an open spot in your Q for as an example TTYD you can get it shipped and receive it on release between a window of dates for ttyd may 16th to the 21st is what I call the Q window to have an open spot
I use gamelock too man. Especially when you bundle the discount for KEEPing it with a coupon. Get a brand new game for like $40ish dollars
I absolutely love this game, the music is so amazing… I have yet to find a track that I dislike (just finished chapter 2) and even the music I disliked previously, the new version sound amazing. Of course this is a personal preference, but it’s obvious that they put a lot more work into these tracks than most remakes do.
Me and my cousin are so hyped for this game. We've been planning on going to his house to play it all weekend when it comes out, and with Memorial Day being on Monday, you already know it's gonna get real😎
2 DAYS
it will leak earlier
@@KianFloppa any leaks yet?

I've seen so many people complain about the art style in the remake, so I'm so glad I see you bring up how it combines the old and new.
I hate talking about Paper Mario with Nintendo fans sometimes because of this kind of negativity. I don't even LIKE SS and CS (outside of music and some of the writing and graphical choices) and I am exhausted 😂
So hyped for this!!!! Thank you Nintendo for bringing back Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door!!!!! Hope Nintendo can bring back Mario & Luigi series as well!!! Either an remake or an fully new entry!!!!!! So ready for May 23rd!!!!!!!!!
I almost cried when this was announced its my favorite game
The reason why they did it was because they needed a couple more releases to fill out this year but all of there new games they are developing now are being developed for the switch 2. So a remake of a gamecube game is an easy and fast thing they could do. We see this again with the Luigis mansion 2 remaster and the mario vs donkeykong remake. It also has been since 2019 that we had a paper mario release so its a natural fit for this year. Honestly its really not all that unexpected as most people think it is.
Yeah idk nothing about this feels like the "easy" choice. There are much more simple games that feature less story and locations they could have gone with. Not to mention, just a port of this game would have been way easier on their end
@@aCavemanNamedJaR you can’t ask 60$ for a straight port without any enhancements. It also wouldn’t be considered a big release if it was just a port. Its relatively easy to remake/remaster since its mostly a game with small environments and a fixed perspective. For example if they chose to fully remaster something like mario sunshine it would have been alot more work. Also the fact they chose to do a remaster instead of a brand new paper mario game is also much easier since you don’t have to come up with everything but just remaster what already exists.
This didn't come out of nowhere people have been asking for thousand year door for ages
It came out of nowhere cuz nintendo didnt wanna do it
I wouldn’t get too excited about getting a brand new traditional PM game if this preforms well. This is still nintendo we’re talking about and they do whatever the hell they want. They could very well decide that this was a one-time thing
Then again they love money so if they see it performs better than the previous titles they might think: "hmm ok These type of pm games seem to be better received why not make a new game based on this one?"
Agree with the above, marketing decisions. Giving something that probably everyone would like (except Sticker Star snobs, that apparently exists) guarantee more sells that a Game with a simple story and a controversial Battle system.
That would be the logical thing to do, but again: this is nintendo and they have proven in the past that they can be very unpredictable
@@marcelmayen1871 ik which is why i can see them make a back to the roots entry after this one
Im so ready for Thursday to get here so I can get my preorder xwx
For every manbaby crying about 30fps theres another thousand people excited for the remake, and that makes me happy
I didn’t Hear that they are partnering with streamers.. wow this isn’t Nintendo….
Im so excited for it. I can't wait!
I don’t understand why ppl are gushing over it so much
And that’s coming from someone who loves origami kubg
I know the sentiment is that this is an un-Nintendo thing to do, but you could honestly turn around and say it is actually a very Nintendo thing to do, as in you never truly know what the heck they’re going to do 😂
I’m hyped
Paper Mario Clay Calamity 😂😂
I played the hell out of this game several years ago and I haven't really seen anything that would make me want this version.
It's a great game though. There is quite a bit to look forward to for new players to the series
2 days!!!
As much I am happy for this the cat calling diolouge is censored
Will look even more perfect on emulator with 60fps mods :)
Only people who don’t already have it on the GameCube are excited about this.
Why don’t they make a new Paper Mario game in this style?
I have it on GameCube and I preordered it day 1 so I don’t know what you’re going on about
I have it on gamecube right now, hooked up to my TV. I still pre-ordered this game.
Thank you I'm not fan of white outline either looks like stickers then paper
Am I the only one that wishes it was the original not ttyd that was remade? Imo it's a better game and it needed an overhaul more
THE TRANSPHOBIA IS BACK BABYYYYYY
Well proof?
So taking out catcalling Goombas is a nothing-burger issue, but not playing the pronoun game with Vivian is a Big-Mac issue, alright, gotcha. I don’t even have a problem with the catcalling bit, I’m just calling out hypocrisy when I see it.

Nobody gives a shit
If it was 60fps it would be perfect.
30. FPS.
Bummer. Not a dealbreaker, though.
I wish people like you would stop fucking whining about it
A shame, but I never played TTYD for its framerate, if you want to buy It buy It, if you dont, dont do It.
Simple as that.
Would you rather have flat 30 or constant jumping between 50-30? Yeah, I thought so.
I think the 30 FPS is a blow to the game tbh, but I genuinely don't understand why it is a dealbreaker to so many people. Like I'm not even mad at this point just confused lol
You're doing too much to bootlick Nintendo. They're doing the bare minimum, not "everything possible". 60fps is an obvious response to that. Let one there's seemingly virtually nothing new for returning players. Back animations on sprites are cool and a new lick of paint but that's not "doing everything" dude.
Wouldn't the bare minimum be a straight port lmao
Don't get me wrong I have issues with the remake, but damn so many people are either 100% negative or 100% positive
