What I like about your content most is watching your approach to a game. I don't think I learn all that much either watching someone fail or watching someone stamp down perfect blueprints that have hours of optimization poured into them. I play these games for the challenge of figuring things out so what I personally find most valuable is listening to you describe your thought process when a challenging situation comes up. Whether I agree or not, it's thought provoking and is far more valuable than watching someone fail or magically provide a cut and paste solution.
I come to Nilaus to "Stay effective" not for the comedy of "oops I done messed up". Keep on being you, and when you do funny, do it in your own way (like all the nukes in Factorio)
4:05 I'm here because you're not annoying to listen to play, and you're actually showing how to play somewhat, rather than trying to beat or break the game.
Pls continue this let's play 🔥 and keep playing like you do. "oh no moments" need to come from the game being difficult and not the player being bad bc it can be quite annoying otherwise. See you ine the next episode
I definitely agree with a lot of the comments, I watch you because you are good at the game and your gameplay is like watching a pro player for the skill, rather than an amateur for funny mistakes.
Regarding your approach to the panic moments and so on, I really like the fact that you are genuine. Let me explain. There are some times when you watch some youtubers play any game, and you see they are doing something blatantly wrong, and you know that they know, and that they are doing only to trigger your comments and generate engagement in their videos. I've seen this in all kinds of games, mind you, not just factory games. You, on the other hand, know what you do and are not willing to compromise on that. This makes you genuine, as I mentioned before, and I take it as a sign of respect for your viewers. That is one of the many reasons I keep watching your videos.
lol your "errors" are rare, but i really do enjoy it when i see the issue before you an just grin an wait. also, i usually watch a bit ahead before trying to follow along an sometimes can even get in front of some of those moments of panic. personally, i think the mix of mostly way more skill than me and the occasional "oh shit" moment is just right. thanks for the work
Why is it that only Nilaus video studder and buffer on UA-cam? Great content btw --- your stuff got me through the lockdowns... No nonsense, just game. From one mid-30s central european man to another.
I like how intuitive your content is, not just mistakes for mistakes' sake. In this COI playthrough, we've gotten to see how problems can arise (oil shortage, for example) due to the build you've made - and then how to correct it. And you've framed it well! "Because I did [thing] then [problem] has happened, and now I'm going to start on [solution]." I think that's much better for your YT content than those 'oh no' moments. Similar to how you filter out the bomb drops and design processes for factorio. I say, if people want raw reactions to situations, they can hop over to Twitch when you're live like I do from time to time. ^^
i've watched through multiple playthroughs of dyson sphere, lots of factorio, and having captain of industry here has been super exciting to keep up with! i can promise that if you keep going on this playthrough, i will not be losing any interest in it haha
I agree with comments on stay effective. But I think given your mastery it would be fun to see some bigger challenges like making the road out of gold, establishing a science island, or putting your beacon on top of a stepped pyramid. Alternatively you could artificially increase the difficulty through the forcing constant use of powerful citizen unity passives. Make them like extra demanding.
im not here for the oh no moments. i love that i almost never get angry at you for doing dum stuff and getting i crap situations, best of luck to you admiral og god sommer
I just started watching you, i think maybe i saw a video or two about another game or two, but you need to not worry about having interesting moments planned out, they just happen organically because you're human.
I think first, people need to define what playing badly means; Nilaus' designs are looking pretty, but waste a ton of space, for example. Is it bad gameplay? Might or might not be, but it's still fun to watch and that's the important bit in UA-cam videos.
I was watching a UA-camr play this game and it was painful to watch. He kept going sideways instead of progressing in the game. I got really annoyed with his gameplay and might have said some choice words but don't regret them. Your playthrough however Is much better because while there may be problems at least you are trying to finish the game instead of artificially making the game last longer by just building more and more basic builds. Keep up the good work.
In terms of "oh noes" & "how to recover", I prefer the format where a video takes on a messed up save file & try to fix it. I've seen a few for Civ 6 & Oxygen not included. I'm sure I'd enjoy seeing you do this for Factorio/Dyson/Captain of industry but if it's not your style it's fine too. I mostly watch for inspiration or stuff that I might have missed.
In the real world, you can't have your brine near your intake as it would reduce the efficiency of the desalination. Hopefully they don't have that level of realism!
Came to comments to ask the same question, I have a 2 high bus and hoping its just Nilaus being Nilaus and wont have to redo the bus or regret it later.
The excavators don't fit under a 2-high bus - I learned that the hard way when they have to drive all the way around. Maybe they fit under 3-high and that is why he did it - I haven't tested personally yet.
I don't enjoy watching people play badly. But, I do enjoy your pipe and belt misclicks. Wondering if you'll catch it right away is as close to an "oh no" moment as I care to get lol
I actually cringe at lets play of people that do not know what to do and make silly mistakes, because most of the time they simply don't read how something is supposed to work or do not care to think about it for more than 2 seconds. I am here because you always try to play at the peak of your abilities and that is very appealing.
To each their own, but I don't experience schadenfreude from lets plays. I don't want to watch people play poorly any more than I enjoy those mobile ads where they play bad on purpose. I personally tend to stop watching as soon as a lets play goes awry. Maybe it all equals out.

"Annoying to listen to" has to be Blitz.
Pls continue this let's play 🔥 and keep playing like you do. "oh no moments" need to come from the game being difficult and not the player being bad bc it can be quite annoying otherwise.

I definitely agree with a lot of the comments, I watch you because you are good at the game and your gameplay is like watching a pro player for the skill, rather than an amateur for funny mistakes.
/engagement. Really like this playthrough and I just hope it gets enough traction for you to definitelly keep playing it 🥳

01:52 yeah red science lol , gave me a good chuckle

Just keeping doing you. I love your playthroughs. And I'm really enjoying this series.

IMHO, this playthrough has the perfect balance between planning and panicking.
im not here for the oh no moments.
i love that i almost never get angry at you for doing dum stuff and getting i crap situations, best of luck to you admiral og god sommer
Cheers, Nilaus. Your builds look great and I’m jealous of your skill when it comes to building stuff 😂
I just started watching you, i think maybe i saw a video or two about another game or two, but you need to not worry about having interesting moments planned out, they just happen organically because you're human.
you just made my morning better, thanks
I come to Nilaus when I want competency at a game. Oh no moments happen, but I watch you because you're using your brain cells.
I think first, people need to define what playing badly means; Nilaus' designs are looking pretty, but waste a ton of space, for example. Is it bad gameplay? Might or might not be, but it's still fun to watch and that's the important bit in UA-cam videos.
He cut his teeth on factorio, some habits die hard.
“Oh no” moments can be useful IF you explain how to recover from them effectively.
I was watching a UA-camr play this game and it was painful to watch. He kept going sideways instead of progressing in the game. Thank you for the interesting video!
Nilaus: I'm not posting blueprints because it's a hassle...
Berlingske: "END OF AN ERA..."
DR: "Panic ensues!"
Americans: "Dude..."
Why does the three high bus work better? Tried to figure it out but not obvious. Those farms though - I'm definitely going to try that :)
You can upgrade all on the ship parts at the same time

I'm watching only to steal all your designs :D (I still have a ton of "oh no" moments in my playthrough tho :()
In the real world, you can't have your brine near your intake as it would reduce the efficiency of the desalination. Hopefully they don't have that level of realism!
They don't have that degree of realism. I always chuckle a bit when doing it myself.
Why does the bus need to be 3 high?
Came to comments to ask the same question, I have a 2 high bus and hoping its just Nilaus being Nilaus and wont have to redo the bus or regret it later.

@@Evansgr123 I have conveyor as high as they go and the excavator can't go under any of them. At least they get the we can't find a path error
I came here to learn the game then for uh no moments
I don't enjoy watching people play badly. But, I do enjoy your pipe and belt misclicks. Wondering if you'll catch it right away is as close to an "oh no" moment as I care to get lol

CAPTAIN OF INDUSTRY
I am here for the designs and explanations. Leave the comedy to the budding streamers trying to make a name for themselves being ineffective.
Im all for completly dominating like dsp
To each their own, but I don't experience schadenfreude from lets plays. I don't want to watch people play poorly any more than I enjoy those mobile ads where they play bad on purpose. I personally tend to stop watching as soon as a lets play goes awry. Maybe it all equals out.
Right? The play in those ads are so aggravating that I vow to stay away from that game!
damn im second comment thats awsome , love your videos nilaus!
