I can't believe this video has been on UA-cam 3 years and there's 7 comments, 171 likes, and 5.7K views... This is one of the best horology videos on UA-cam and a real mind expanding video in my enjoyment of watches. I'd love to hear Jack talk hours and hours more about other aspects, historical or technical, of horology. Bring it HSNY!
These lectures of the Society are a must all watch guys - boys and girls. Should be promoted much more on all the channels like Bark and Jack, Jenni Elle, Watch Gringa, theo and harris, the wristguy, etc.... einfach wunderbar ...
I was wondering yesterday what the difference was between the lever and co-axial escapements, and knowing very little, I was happy to boil it down to "less sliding and wear with the co-axial escapement". Today, I am happy to have found this lecture. It ought to be on the front page of Hodinkee at all times, or maybe an abridged/sexier version? The number of views here are disheartening. Thanks, Jack!
A most succinct video covering this huge subject……It sets out very clearly some of the significant milestones in the struggle for precision……… In my humble opinion, it should have had, and fully deserves, many more views………the energy that it must have taken to put all these facts together, into such an ‘easy to absorb’ lecture/video, must have been considerable.
Another interesting HSNY lecture, thank you for sharing. I didn't know Jack Forster has so much basic knowledge about horology - you could tell in the Q&A part. Chapeau. We need more journalist who explain complicated things.
