Albert-László Barabási | Lecture at NYU - "THE FORMULA: THE UNIVERSAL LAWS OF SUCCESS"

  • Albert-László Barabási, is a Hungarian/Romanian network scientist and author. He is also the Robert Gray Dodge Professor of Network Science and a Distinguished University Professor at Northeastern University, where he directs the Center for Complex Network Research, and holds appointments in the Departments of Physics and College of Computer and Information Science, as well as in the Department of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women Hospital in the Channing Division of Network Science, and is a member of the Center for Cancer Systems Biology at Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
    In this lecture, Barabási is going to illustrate and explain the Science of Success lab, and he is going to talk about his new book called "The Formula: The Universal Laws of Success". His book came out on the 6th November, and give ideas to individuals so that they can transform the very foundations of how their success-obsessed society approaches their professional careers, life pursuits and long-term goals.

    Basically, "if at first you don't succeed, try again." Where performance can't be measured, Prestige is very real, not merely perceived!

    I guess one important lesson for people in the academia is to try publish as many as you can and hope one of them will be a hit.

      Or publish through avenues where influential people are likely to pick up on it and propel it
