I have the entire series on DVD. Every night, I climb in bed and watch an episode or two before turning off the lights to go to sleep. It's the perfect way to settle down enough to go to sleep after a long day.
Every time I hear that theme I begin to smile, and all is well with the world for another 1/2 hour, farewell to all of that crew who have left us,very much missed !
@@patmckeane6588 They were all great actors, and they seemed like family, I began watching them when camping(we had a trailer-or caravan as they are called on that shore of the puddle-) on a permanent site, where we spent nearly all weekends, and as the reception there was almost nonexistent we had a satellite setup and if for any reason we couldn't be there to see it the recorder was set up to catch it-we didn't watch TV that much there-just at night or in bad weather, but made it a point not to miss that show, then later it was on reruns all the time-, later for years after I retired I liver there from mid-April until mid-October. I still watch episodes often, they always leave me smiling and at peace with the world, I also love the side series that is placed in the pre-WW2 era, as I recall the last episode ends with Neville Chamberlain's speech announcing that hostilities had commenced. I hope the remaining cast live long and happy-we owe them many happy hours, and those gone on before, may they never be forgotten, perhaps they can restart filming on the other side of the veil.
Words can hardly convey the love we have for these characters and the parts they played. I would love to have met each one in person. We actually filmed each one for when the day might come when they were no longer available on BBC. We have a priceless library.
Totally loved this. I'm 48...if I am alive in thirty years I will still be watching this show! It is just the best and seeing Juliette Kaplan ...now deceased...makes me want to watch it again tonight
I have been going since I was a child with my dad, the first Time I went was the one and only time dad let me stay off school and dad off work and we had the best day. It's not nice to drive my wagon around tho
It's a testament to how good this comedy was when it's English humour can travel across the pond. I live in Northern Ireland, just across the Irish sea, and their is alot of English humour, the Monty Python sketch show in particular, I just don't get but Last Of The Summer Wine was hilarious even though it is obviously based on the English and Yorkshire in particular way of life.
I was born in mid 1984 between the series 7 episode getting Sam home, and the series 8 episode the loxley lozenge. Peter sallis was born about 1 year after my grandparents. I first seen this show in the early 2000's. This is one of my favorite sitcoms. Rest in peace all the departed cast and crew of this excellent show.
Loved all the series, loved all the actors, loved the music and still do on replays. What a special programme, far superior to all the other soaps that have foul language and actions that I would never watch. LOSW brings nostalgia and clean comedy together - a wonderful mix.
It is a shame that Wally Batty is never shown or mentioned in anything like this...he was by far the funniest character on the show even though for the most part he was never in a full episode. I guess with the show going on for so long after Joe Gladwin's death in 1987 he is a forgotten character compared to others such as Howard, Marina, Pearl etc
I love last of Summer Wine . I first discovered this show on utube best show. THANK YOU to all the Wonderful Actors and Actresses and producers GREAT SHOW
I live in Texas... Been to England twice... 2 visits to the Cotswalds...binge watch Last of the Summer Wine nightly on UA-cam... LOVE IT!!! wish for more back stories like this one!
I watched the first one with my father in 1973,the same year my local soccer team won the FA cup anyway it was the only comedy we ever watched together and until his death in 1984 we often watched it together, it is a great leveler cos there is no violence, politics, illness, sex or anything else you could argue about it's just funny stuff for the sake of funny stuff. I loved it at 11yrs old and 50yrs on and I still love it, bless the blooming lot of 'em 😁💕🖖
We were introduced to this brilliant show here in America through what is called public television, my mother got me hooked on the show, I had already been a fan of British TV, I started recording them and still watch but I lost track of it after a certain time them my mom passed away in 2014, we used to watch it together.
Losing the actors from this show was like losing family members or close friends. Will miss them always. They brought so much to all who watched everywhere. May they rest in peace 🕊️.
I'd love to live in a village like this. Was a big fan of this series. It was a Saturday evening tradition. Also miss Keeping Up Appearances, another Saturday night must see. I guess that's what memories are for.
I love the show and the village. I'm middle age. My Dad was a old Dutch Man that loved to watch the contractors and laugh. He would be 103.we always looked forward to see what mischief was next. It made the end of any day a pleasure
I would love to live in a village like this. So quaint. I didn't know they filmed the interior house scenes in London. The location scenes were beautiful. I loved all the characters. Such a great cast. It was a twofold successful. Great series and it helped the people who lived there.
I discovered this show because of a documentary of WALLACE & GROMIT. They talked about Peter Sallis making this show so I had to check it out. I was hooked from the first viewing. I miss it and I miss all the colorful characters.
I used two love Last of the summer wine.wen it first started. Compo so realley funny with the love of his life oh nora batty.it was so natural.and all the series made. No smut or swearwords to make u laugh. Just pure comedy of all the players untill it ended. I'm 75 and i still watch them. And i can still laugh at there antics. Ater all these years. Thx to LAST OF THE SUMMER WINE. Could not be beaten? BRI
It is still a very popular show in NZ. And I have to say as far as my favourite characters I'd have to say Nora Batty and the Howard/Pearl/Marina trio.
British comedies were very well liked on our PBS channel. This was my favorite along with Eastenders and Oh God . The theme songs were beautiful. They only show Keeping Up Appearances now. So many enjoyable shows on Saturday nights in the USA.
I remember "discovering" this show one night on my local PBS station (it aired at 10 or 11 p.m. right after Are You Being Served). I tried to interest my friends in the show but they just couldn't stand it's gentle humor. My favorite characters were Campo and Nora Batty. The story arc that took the series through the (real life?) passing of the actor who played Campo was excellent, moving, yet funny, easily the best ever. Nora Batty strongly resembled my maternal grandmother in looks and temperament, Grammie Barrett had 9 children and 30+ grandchildren, she didn't put up with any foolishness. I was amazed at how beautiful the actress who played Pearl really looked. The makeup and costumes on the show were outstanding.
Being from West Yorkshire I love 💕 watching Last Of The Summer Wine but was deeply saddened when Bill Owen ( Compo) passed away . I love it when Foggy , Seymour n Foggy are in it . Awesome Series
Loved this series!! Trying to watch it from the beginning on BritBox...Nora Batty was so YOUNG!! Bill Owens was my favorite...well, he & Nora, both. (I know Nora is her stage name, but she reminds me of my own gran...in looks & home skills) Rest easy, you lot..we love you then as well as still.
Remember visiting this beautiful place. This wonderful series still makes me laugh so much. Wish so called comedy shows today would do the same, they just make me change channels.
The evokes so much sentimentality in me. Oftentimes i am reminded of Hagood Hardy. I adore this series. Sometimes I like to binge on it. I loved everyone acting in this series. Thank you so much for providing it on UA-cam.

Still watching them on channel 20 from Monday to Friday love them never get bored and hopefully I will go there one day
Foggy was the one who made the show worth watching, in my opinion. Also, I enjoyed the beautiful countryside and the old architecture.
Yeah never thought it was the same after him and Compo left!
Damien Le Maistre I liked the ones with Russ Abbott, but they were the only non Compo episodes I liked apart from the ones about his death.
