- Bit of a different video this time, looking at Spell Books because I find them interesting and found out a fair bit about them!
Sorry if I sound a bit croaky in this vid, I was getting over a cold. Also this Halloween update broke OBS's ability to record at 60 FPS for some reason so this video was made and recorded at 30 instead.

The Codex Gigas was a 160 pound book. You could probably do a lot of damage with it if you put it in a catapult or trebuchet

Fun fact: the default Magazine, Grappling Hook and Power-Up Canteen are actually the same item, if you equip one in a map that allows it it will shift into the other if you join another map that allows one of the other items
This sounds so crazy I have to test it
If that's true, there's no reason to not have one equipped since they're all incredibly useful and at least 1 is needed on any map! :D
i use them in my default loadouts, even if they are invisible in the menu they are still there

Valve is just did that in 2015 with the arrival of Mannpower, it's rare because the default game tools aren't as effective, but we all know fancy spellbook is better for those sparkles ✨

remember those old trade servers that would just have spellbooks in a straight line down the middle of the plaza, and people would always walk into them not realizing they had the grappling hook equipped instead of the spellbook

4 new maps, but 2 of them were existing maps (upward and badwater)

To me that seems more like a drawing than a 3D render, and there a lot of artists out there that really make that line seem blurry.
There's some Polygon lines around her hat so it might be a model that has been painted over

latin pronunciation pro tip: there are no soft Cs or soft Gs, and the V sound doesn't exist. If there is a V then depending on whether or not a vowel or consonant follows dictates whether or not you pronounce it as a W or a U respectively. i.e: Vticensis is pronounced as "Utikensis" while Veteris is pronounced as "Weteris".

I am lucky enough to own Fireproof Secret Diary, its considered a collectors item nowdays. Funny fact - the effect you see on picture is same that you see when you cast the spell. But apart of the different book and its particle effects it behaves same as Spell magazine, you cannot add any pages to it or anything. Its just super rare, only 641 are known to exist.

For those who are wondering, the Bombinomicon is an arcane tome used to conjure...cannonball-like bombs with a light-able fuse. The name is reference to the Necronomicon. It is a book that was conceptually made by H.P. Lovecraft that is mentioned in several of his stories. There is a misconception that the book has supernatural/arcane properties. The book is supposed to be "mundane" but the information contained in the book itself is supernatural and arcane revealing something eldritch. I guess you could argue that the Necronomicon is by extension supernatural/arcane. The one in Team Fortress 2 is one of the more comical interpretations/variations on the forbidden tome and a lot more sentient. The name of the item can very roughly mean "Name of Bomb(s)". The Lovecraftian book roughly means "Name of Death" or "Deadly Name", which I guess the true name of the book can cause death instead of explosions? Not sure.

About the unique magazine: you got one from logging in during the 2 scream fortress events you mentioned, before they made stock items for the action slot.
I deleted my book when I was a f2p and now i regret doing that, I just want my book back man

Sometimes tf2 items can be renamed or traded by accident, usually as an oversight or by doing something to bypass it's original design (like say adding a festivizer on an australium in the early days or gift-wrapping the black rose) however sometimes in impossibly rare odds; an item will be given to you bugged.
Now these are impossbly rare but when it happens it's usually only ever 1 of them and often patched out before it gets bigger. The only cases I've seen about this was a "Self Made Crate" and the tradeable "Horseless headless horseman's headtaker".
So the renamed spellbook could of been given renamable, it could of been altered during a buggy part of tf2 or just a fake someone uploaded to backpack(dot)tf. Like how I did a foundry map for an achievement and it somehow gave me that hat for getting 1000 youtube likes.... I have no idea how, it just did, even though I was after the foundry hat :/
@@DrHundTF2 yep, I won one in a raffle once. Although I'd keep one just for the novelty of having "the noise maker" weapon.
It's annoying, but a fun kind of annoying (especially with a group of frying pan scouts). You can even add a mod (gamebanana site) that turns them all golden.

The unique spellbook magazines that remain in your inventory are the ones from 2013 and 2014.
I know im late but heres a fun fact:the stock scattergun seems to be a becker revolving shot gun with a double barrel design thats sorta been sawned down with a lever mechanism sorta like the m1887.

I am wondering though.... what about what the class say whenever a spell is casted? For instance, "Invokum Monoculus!" Has to Invoke, which is to summon or to bring forth.

I'm gonna be honest, I don't care much for Scream Fortress. If you could earn non-Halloween hats from it, or if holiday items weren't limited to special servers (seriously, what gives? No other game limits cosmetics to certain times) then I'd try harder to get them.
For clarity, I don't mind hats being limited-time in terms of when you can _get_ them, what bothers me is the limit to when you can _wear_ them in official servers. I mean its not even about "immersion" at this point, with all the crazy community-made cosmetics like making Heavy into fucking Jotaro Joestar.
