The new generation PLANEX long-reach sander is revolutionizing drywall construction - with LED light and random orbit movement. The all-around LED light ring works like a built-in raking light and reveals any unevenness during sanding. The random orbit sanding motion produces outstanding surface quality - without any expensive reworking. The adjustable suction power, variable working length, and clever T-handle ensure ergonomic work on walls and ceilings - making the tool easy to control, even during long periods of operation.
› Zero maintenance and durable: the brushless EC motor is extremely robust, long-lasting, and maintenance-free
› Easier work: adjustable suction power to relieve the load on the arms and back; the PLANEX holds its own weight against walls and ceilings
› Reach further with less weight: ergonomic T-handle for greater range with a shorter machine
› Neat and tidy: safe and space-saving transport in the Systainer SYS3 XXL
› Individual adjustment: variable working length - up to two extensions can be added
› Sanding with an integrated light: all-round LED light ring to reveal unevenness

Drywall sanding is easily one of my most loathed home improvement activities. This would make me want to seek out drywall work! Now to convince my wife I need this for DIY...

Awesome! All we need now is a feature that marks all the locations of the imperfections while we are sanding so that we don’t forget where they are. There’s one for you guys at Festool. 😂

Nice machine ! question . do you need to have the CT 36? I own the CT26 AND THE MINI. would those be enough to run this planex?

What's the difference between the suction control on the tool vs the variable suction on the CT? Why both?

I own 5 of the older model LHS 225 sanders that still work perfect. I was excited to see the improvements with ergonomics and rake light. So... I purchased this and had to return it. Here's why: There isn't any way to sand without leaving rings in any hardness of drywall compound. I tried all grits, speeds and vacuum pressure. Nothing could duplicate the perfect finish of the old LHS 225 Planex. I also tried the "new" interface pad . Same results. Festool support has no answers or way to resolve these issues. Also, I noticed that the new motor overheats quickly...slowing and then stopping. Very annoying. I'm sure there will be a fix for this machine...it's just not yet.

We had exactly the same problem! Was super excited to get our hands on one of these but but completely disappointed this was completely unusable for anything😢

35y my business of high-end painting. More then 10 - 15y the old one and now 2y the new one.
The light is the best new thing on it. The ergonomics, totally not good. Try to sand all day, you will feel it. The bar for holding in the middle is to thick (you get cramps), the vacuum-hose place, it keeps turning around the handle (5:08 same problem), was way better with the old one at the end.
Make it at the end again and let it freely turn around.
All the rest, I love. You have to take some time and look for the right personal setting (sandpaper, vacuum knob, vacuum cleaner settings) for the type of filler you use. You can easily get lots of skrulls in the surface from the machine.
TIP: never start the machine first and then put it on the surface. You get a big mark. Put it against the surface and then put it on. The moment it starts, start moving it around.

This tool looks great. It will be even better if you uses a carbon fiber tube instead of aluminum on the version 3.0.

For sanding off stucco it’s great….. but since the sanding pad is screwed down to the head of the sander…. The sandpaper dosent sit perfectly flat when finish sanding…..they almost got it right…. But then again…there not suppose too…

The fact that you have to buy the vac hose ( in the UK) separately is a disgrace, if I didn’t have to get on with a job I would have told Festool to shove it.

Having used both, the visibility, range of motion and dust extraction are way better on the PLANEX 2. It's pretty epic.

Dust extraction on Festool is way better. Hell I’d buy it just for that light ring.

Mirka was better than the old planex. However I think Festool have a massive winner here. The fully articulated head is a big improvement and the light ......... the light ! Have you seen the light ?

    • @ILruffian
      @ILruffian 3 роки тому +2

I was nearly scared off after seeing a lot of stuff about how Mirka was far better because Planex 2 gouges, makes swirl marks, etc. It was all false. I couldn't make a swirl mark in midweight compound if I tried. Even by turning suction all the way up. Gouges? Yes, I had two. These were operator error, putting the running unit against the wall before it was totally flat. Betting that the guys who are having problems are finish coating with lightweight. What do they think is going to happen if someone bumps that painted wall later? Lightweight is soft garbage for guys who want to go quick. And the light is amazing.
