As far as side effects go, a dental implant is made of titanium, so if you have a titanium allergy of some sort you, unfortunately, will not be a candidate for an implant. We don't have any side effects as such, but you can have what we call post-operative complications.
A complication could mean that the implant fails when doing what we call a torque test. Sometimes the surgery has to happen again. You might not have enough bone so a more major surgery needs to be done. Sometimes after the crown has been put on, the crown breaks because you are a heavy bruxer. So there's a lot of risks that can be involved with an implant.
That is why it is very important that your risk is managed and the only way we can give you a proper answer for your particular case is to see you, do some x-rays, and then tell you what risks may be there for you, saying that 90% of the time we have very successful results, but remember the 10%-15% that don't go our way.
So the best thing is to go see a dentist who has got enough experience and can manage your risk better.

Personally, I would rather live on smoothies and jello than get implants.
I have full implants, they're amazing! You just have to look after them. I think some people just think because they don't decay, you don't have to bother with cleaning them so much, but that's not true.

Better to go with least amount of invasion if possible.
This is just another gravy train for dentists, too many unscrupulous practices out there. They don't see you as a person in need, but a ticket to an opulent lifestyle for themselves.
I have a metal allergy so not taking the risk.
Seeing 3rd dentist, but this time I have found a diamond, as they construct Dentures themselves.
Will either get partial Dentures or full. Best outcome, even through full will be a long learning curve with speech and eating.
If you don't mind my asking, which teeth do you have missing?
I'm concerned about implant screws from China that look like standard wood screw thread. They are listed as titanium but look like stainless . They say FDA approved but I found out many electrical items that have a CE approval stickers are not Certified but instead China claims it stands for China export !
Im sure your dentist would select the correct screw.

@@Elias-yx9gx I don't think a screw that only cost $2 or $3 could have been made from implant grade titanium and passed Certification . If the metal contains harmful impurities than they might leach out and kill people. Could this be a reason some people have a " allergic reaction" to titanium ? I think a program like 60 minutes or front line should investigate the titanium implant industry
Listen most implants don't work out especially if you are over 50
