Acadia has become crazy since we have visited. For those that can't get accommodations in Bar Harbor, don't forget the campgrounds. The shuttles will take you from your campground to not only Bar Harbor, but everywhere in the park. Saves you the stress of driving and parking
Even the campgrounds are a nightmare to reserve. Took me many tries to get one in Blackwoods for mid-June. They usually get reserved within the first 30 seconds of being released (10am, two months prior to check-in date)
Visited the past 2 years there and one suggestion is if you plan on hiking, START EARLY. Parking is very limited and the trails can get crowded during the summer
@@carolm8003 my family and I were up at 530-6am and started our first trail by 7-730am. We were the only ones at sand beach and had most of ocean path to ourselves. They next day around 8am, we did the Jordan pond trail and maybe passed 5 people. It’s worth it, this park gets crowded and the parking can be a pain.
I need to still watch your other Acadia videos but super excited to see you here. I’m from Maine originally. My husband is actually from MDI (where most of Acadia is). His dad is a 50 plus years lobster fisherman and actually fishes out of Bass Harbor right in front of that lighthouse. We both have worked seasons at Acadia (now currently stationed at Everglades).
Acadia national Park looks great but challenging. If you are handicapped you should think about maybe another park. Pop's time delay videos are awesome! Good job Pop's 👍
I flew into Boston and rented a car. It not only was cheaper that way but I made stops along the way in kennebunkport and booths bay on the way back. Two really great towns. I went in off season in April so not everything was open, in the park as well as in Maine in general. But my time there was awesome cuz I had the park almost to myself. If I ran into anyone, they were usually locals who gave me great suggestions. Like where to get the best and cheapest lobster rolls. You won’t find them online. It was a local sports bar that I think only locals went to that was located in an alley off a main parking area near downtown. Went there twice. There’s a decent grocery store there and a great little bakery I only discovered on the day I left. I’m itching to go back. I stayed in an old historic hotel that was a bit outside of town so it was cheaper and the stay included breakfast. I had a car so it didn’t matter I was five blocks from downtown. Thanks for sharing your tips. I’d love to go back. It was such a lovely place. I’m glad you and pops got to enjoy it.
I'm about to take a trip from va beach to Seattle to grand canyon and new Orleans with a ton of stops taking a2 months. Your videos have been super helpful. Also you make me want to hike. It seems to make tou very haply
Awesome, I’m working in new Hampshire for a couple of months, I’m planning on going to Acadia when I’m done in May. Hopefully Cadillac mountain is open by then. Right now it’s closed for construction till the middle/end of May.
As I'm never going to get there I look forward to seeing more of that awesome Autumn colour in your full video Josh. BTW your pop-overs looked very much like Yorkshire Puddings to me (popular in the UK but we also eat them in Oz and Im sure many other places) - traditionally eaten with roast beef and I love them as a desert with Golden Syrup. cheers from Western Australia
I was there more than 40 years ago, it wasn't that busy in the summer, i believe we camped there, the nights are colder and there is fog near the coast.
make sure if you are traveling from MA to ME along 95/295 on the coast, that you stop and see the Desert of Maine in Freeport along with the LL Bean stores... And always remember, "you can't get there from here"...
While you showed beautiful photos of it you didn’t mention anything about the Bass Harbor Lighthouse. It was my favorite of Acadia favorites. My travel tip is that if you are serious about both getting a parking spot and capturing those classic sunset photos, get to the parking lot three hours before sunrise. It took 45 minutes of waiting in line for me to get a parking spot, leaving me two hours to park my butt on a nice, comfy rock at the edge of the Atlantic Ocean.
I've heard the sunrise permits are so hit and miss because of morning fog, you spend all the time, effort and.... you see nothing. So maybe it isn't worth it to try and get a sunrise permit.
Skip sunrise and do sunset on Cadillac mountain. Just as beautiful, less hassle and no getting up at a ghastly hour.

This is such a perfect short travel video! I wish more creators made them the way you do. Super helpful, thanks!
Acadia probably has the best natural scenery on the East Coast. Thanks for the info and tips!
I agree 100% it is so stunning!
As always, great video Josh! Thanks for the tips! 🙌🏽
No problem, thanks for the comment!

Great suggestion, some of the trails are very hard to get parking at!
What is considered early enough?

Great video :)
I am planning to visit Acadia in two years (I am from Europe so there is some planning and a lot of saving involved).
What can I say! This is super awesome and amazing and please keep doing what you do! 😁
Fantastic shots. Great job on the video. Thank you for sharing.
Going to Acadia this summer. Great tips!
Hope you enjoy it!
Good info. Thanks. It’s near the top of my places to see! 👍
Glad it was helpful! It is such a beautiful area to explore and I hope you make it up there!
Heading there next month and looking forward to it. Thanks for the info!
Thanks for a nice video!
I was there in July 2022 and it was very windy and cold at the Cadillac Mountain watching the sunset. A jacket is recommended.
Going for the second time, and second year in a row, in May! Absolutely can’t wait to check out these spots I missed.
SO awesome, I would love to visit again!

We visited Acadia Park 15 years ago during our New England and Nova Scotia. Great time.
That's awesome! I bet it was a lot less busy as well
What about biking?
I wish I had this video the first time I went !!
Me too, I tried to make the video I was looking for when I was researching it haha
Josh, super tips...👏👏🤗
Thanks! 😃

Sounds like you had a fantastic experience and got some great local tips!
Do you remember the name of the bar where you got the lobster rolls? We are heading there end of May.

wow very helpful content friend
Thanks so much for the info. I did not know they required reservations. Lynn and Danny
Nice place to visit
Thanks!
No problem!
Nice info. Exactly what dates were you there? Trying to plan for this October.

How would you compare Beehive with Angel’s landing? Is Angel’s landing a lot scarier?
If I stay in Bar Harbor is it easy to drive to other parts of Maine for the day?
Lovely video...totally absurd that you have to get permits to see a sunrise in park!
Aren't pop overs just Yorkshire puddings?
Did u guys go and check out the Holy donut while in Portland Maine ??
We wanted to go to Holy Donut but it was closed by the time we got there. Next time!
@@ThroughMyLens bummer that place has some amazing donuts especially the sea salt and cheddar donut
@@thetravelingirishman4372 holy donut is amazing. we bought and ate so much there

Bar Harbor is overpriced. Better to stay in Southwest Harbor. Both towns are located on Mount Desert Island 🌲
The city of Bangor is pronounced Bang Gore. This mis-pronunciation irritates Mainers an irrational amount so please try your best for our sake.
