- Here is some footage from our Giselle in-studio run on Sept. 3. It was the VERY first rehearsal in our big new beautiful space! I am so excited! My Albrecht, Ryan Marks, couldn't be there, hence no pas de deux, but I still wanted to show you! (There will be an Albrecht for the show!) Can't wait to dance this TODAY - September 10 & 11th at Goldenwest College in Huntington Beach. Thank you SO much to Sean Geoffroy for this stunning footage. Filmed 9/3/22.

Hi I'm Kathryn!
I am a former soloist with the New York City Ballet and Miami City Ballet. When I was a young student, I was always looking for insights into the ballet world and how to improve my dancing as well as beauty and lifestyle tips. Now that I am a professional, it is my turn to share.

I love being able to see the instant change to "offstage", hands on hips, breathing hard, etc. It really shows how hard it is to look like it's not hard at all 😆
For real! I remember doing Swan Lake and looking forward to the parts where get to run upstage, cuz the audience cant see as gasping for air :)

Amazing how Katy becomes the age of the character when she dances, she actually looks 15 !! And the shoes look great

To me Gisele is all about the heavy emotions and sadness but the she has to be light and ethereal. Kathy, I love watching you interpret the music

You have such a romantic look that I've always thought this kind of repertoire would fit you better than Balanchine.
Pay close attention to "THE MOOD, ATMOSPHERE, KM masterminds here, and all within the Romantic Style of the famous Giselle. A dancing Lithograph.
What makes this dress rehearsal ravishing is exactly for the reasons I've noted.
KATHRYN MORGAN, is an artist, has gifted quality of creativity on stage. Here in this classroom studio, she indeed created the gossamer, light and airy tragedy of the fabled Giselle.
It's important to pay attention to this because this is not an easy thing to do.
Heck, she doesn't even have an Albrecht, and yet, I see Patrick Dupond being embraced by her with the loyalty of pure love, the one thing Albrecht never had until it was too late.
All you "YOUNGINS", this is what Ballet dancing is about, this is what all the hard work is about, this is a master class in creating a mood in a Ballet.

Giselle’s entrance act2 is my favourite part❤️ and some kind of a test to every ballerina - if she is believable in it, (lightness, airiness of a spirit) the role is perfect for her!
P.S. I’m watching that part over and over again and WOW you have lightness and effortlessness even better than my beloved Natalia Osipova! Musicality and lyricism - this role is made for you ❤

It must be hard to apply some delicate nyances of different ballet style or technique than you have use to dance. I mean like using more upperbody and epoulements but this Giselle looks delicate and beautiful!

Hi Kathryn! I think it would be really nice to film the podcast recording sessions and have it have its own channel. Nothing fancy, just a camera on a tripod in the recording studio. I know a few podcasts that do it and it creates a very nice ambiance and its relaxing to watch. Maybe something to think about ? 🙂

This is such an excruciating ballet. I mean, they all are (ballet is hard yo), but Giselle just seems to take so much from a dancer 🥴
It's SO hard to make it look effortless
That's in part because it is highly emotional, but in Act 2 the girls are all dead and dead people don't get tired, the men can be tired, and show it for the story, but the girls, especially Giselle herself cannot even be seen to breathe. Superior fitness doesn't even begin to describe it.

Giselle certainly is the deciding factor if you are thinking high difficulty level
I think Giselle suits you. You are kind of naturally romantic. Sometimes what I don't like about ballerinas dancing Giselle is that they look unnatural in the role as the spirit of it is so far from nowadays spirit. You need to be a certain type of personality yourself to be doing it well. It is a mix of strong and vulnerable, earthy and supernatural. Good job
