- This was a recent performance of Giselle Act 2 on September 11, 2022. What an incredible opportunity this was to revisit this stunning ballet. I love this beautiful role so much. A massive thank you to my Albrecht, Ryan Marks, and the beautiful dancers of Ballet Repertory Theater, student company of Dance Academy of Southern California. Hi I'm Kathryn!
I am a former soloist with the New York City Ballet and Miami City Ballet. When I was a young student, I was always looking for insights into the ballet world and how to improve my dancing as well as beauty and lifestyle tips. Now that I am a professional, it is my turn to share.
On my channel I make ballet, beauty, and lifestyle videos for everyone of all ages. My goal is help dancers improve and achieve their dreams as well as open up the ballet world to non dancers. Your artistry is on fire. Anyone can tell you’re dancing because you love it. Finding my love of dance again at 34 is the best thing that ever happened to me. I can’t do a lot of what I used to be capable of, but I’m enjoying it so much more. Tears welled in my eyes because I could immediately tell that dancing gives you peace.
Absolutely beautifully portrayed and danced. Your demeanor, your arms, and maintaining the character of Giselle herself. Be very proud of yourself. I come from the era of Markarova and Gregory and Fracci and you did a fantastic rendition.
Thank you so much for posting this. My 3-year-old loves to watch ballet, but is obviously too young for classical ballet at a theatre. She was enthralled, and I love showing her more complete shows rather than just random clips so that I can tell her the story and she can get the full picture of ballet rather than just "pretty dancers."

Bravo! What a wonderful production! The corps were fantastic and so were the soloists. But Kathryn, you are Giselle incarnate! As I always say, my favorite dancer dancing my favorite ballet! What a gift to watch you! And what a treasure for your students! I mean, they will have this indelibly seared in their hearts for their lifetime, having shared the stage with you! Learning from you and Chris how to be real dancers, artists and not at the expense of your humanity, but rather how to allow your artistry to enhance everyone’s humanity! Oh, Kathryn, in an era of technicians who so often resemble astonishing robots, your dancing reminds me what it’s like to have a heart.
Silly detail, but I love how Myrtha's authority is portraited in Giselle. She says dance, so you dance like there is no tomorrow!

While I was glued to my phone watching your performance I had the feeling something important was missing until I realized my mind waited for your commentary. I´m so used watching you perform while you provide commentary that seeing you dance isn't enough for me anymore I want to hear your thoughts at the same time!

The ABT version of Giselle from 1977 is available on UA-cam. Featuring Makarova, Baryishnikov, and Martine van Hamel. It is in multiple parts.
San Francisco Ballet is performing Giselle during their 2023 season (next spring) if you would like to see a live performance.

Giselle is one of my favorite full length Ballets. This is a nice performance of part of Act 2. It may not have been possible, but I really wished that the beginning of Act 2 (before the entrance of Giselle) had been part of this performance. Myrtha and the Willis have really stunning solos and corps sections. Who can forget the corps doing the hops across the stage (aka the “chugs”)?

just finished my performances of giselle last weekend 🤍 it was my first full-length ballet (other than nutcracker) and i was so blessed to be able to dance this wonderful role!!
can you do once upon a pointe your international tours? Also I've only seen giselle with the Vaganova technique so it was cool to see it the Balanchine way
