@LittleEmoBoy001 The main reason was because IBM was not developing the architecture in an ambitious way. It was holding them back. At the time there were significant performace difference for the same power being consumed by the equivelant Intel. It also meant increased compatability with x86 software allowing boot camp for one of many benefits.

Are you implying that's not the case for windows users? Windows is the default , anybody who walks into a store to buy their first computer will probably get windows , because windows runs their games and all their friends have windows. Nostalgic...amazing.
Yup, it's 2013, and im going to get one. So classic. *How hipster*
I've had one of these since 2004 and it's still a useful computer.
Where can I buy this computer?
eBay, I bought mine working with keyboard and mouse for $139.00 US Dollars
ebay...
You can buy it in 2004
Damn! I can't wait until i get my hands on one of those! Only 2 inches thin?! Thats as thin as paper! 17" display?! Thats frigging huge!!!!! I can't wait until they come out this September...
all my teachers still have this
I have the iMac G5 1.83 GHz 20 inch 2 GB 250 HDD, really beautiful, my favorite model without a doubt.
I feel like they took a step back in terms of design.
Same, the 2002 one looks cool still
Today this one looks like a toy to me
@@l21n18 I love how it's like a throwback but at the same time I agree. It doesn't feel like something that I'd want on my desk personally.
@@cidsx I’d like the 2002 G4 it’s a shame they never evolved that concept, don’t know what the obsession is with having a monitor/computer needing to in the same package,
@@l21n18 I presume that some people would rather have it mounted to a wall instead of having the computer in the stand. You can't remove the stand if the computer is in it.
Every iMac since this, I just love telling people who’ve never seen or heard of one “That’s it. That’s the entire thing! There’s nothing else!”
3:18
And inside the new iMuac...
Phil pronounces iMac as iMuac haha
‘Less than two inches thick!’ 😂
5:27 wouldn't it still be nice if they made computers like that..
This was the prettiest IMac. Loved it!
I loved how Jobs burned this design to the ground with the release of previous iMac... :)
Funny thing is, the sunflower desing is still unmatched when it comes to the screen assembly. Having a screen that can rotate is very useful
@@mspeter97 don’t know why they scrapped that design but
its so interesting to go back and watch how the desktop has evolved.
Who is watching this in décembre 2015?
I found this awesome all in one cheat for Death Race Crash Burn :) facebook.com/1511510362480115/photos/a.1511513105813174.1073741828.1511510362480115/1511513052479846/?type=3&pidid=a7895432-71ab-4cd6-8c0a-4af248f782c9 Apple Expo Paris 2004-The New iMac G5
Bilal Derany Go away
Bilal Derany fuck off
Shut up
Saturday, May 18, 2024 while playing Chess and listening 🎧 to Elvis on the CD drive of my hand me down 2006 iMac. ❤ In 20 years I will take the chip out of the free 2024 iMac someone throws out and install it into this 2006 😂
Always being impressed by APPLE, from Power-MAC to I-MAC, sure great heay !
Ah, back when Apple made products better AND cheaper every year.
It's an amazing design, but they died so quickly. So many iMac G5's and PowerMac G5's with broken power supplies...
+deWaardt iMac G5 suffered far more from bad caps on the main board. Sure, bad caps did also occur in the PSU, but those were far less problematic than the mainboard.
my iMac G5 is also dead because bad caps :(
LOLOL!!! My dad said the same thing when we first saw it. He was like "Okay I see the keyboard and the monitor....where's the computer?" "In the monitor!!!!" I tried to tell him he couldn't believe it!
Advances in technology is crazy isn't it? :)
Anyone SUCCESSFULLY install a Linux distro on one yet?
Nobody wants to DOWNGRADE an iMac!
I know. It's always funny to see how expensive stuff was back then. The 17'' iMac G4 costing nearly $2,000 was my favorite.
that is to thin, you can cut your self if your not careful
Michael Williams yea
I had one, back then. Unfortunately it didn't last very long. Around 2021 some diodes on the mainboard died and the screen only showed stripes anymore. Wish I had it still today.
It's actually pretty ugly.
I mean, the first iMac was like a Tv Screen. It was great.
The Sunflower design for me is still one of the best iMac Apple ever made.
The newer Aluminium ones are pretty sleek in design but the G5? Nah, it's ugly as hell
Le Docteur the G5 is pretty much the exact same design as the iMacs of today, just thicker. Don't know what your complaining about
It seems bulky.
Le Docteur I have to agree, the G5 and early core duo iMacs I find to be the ugliest iMacs made. The g5 has to be one of my least favorite Mac computers made. From a performance, design, and reliability standpoint.
The white Imac is gorgeous when you see it in person, it's very zen and looks like a home computer that fits in with any decor, where as the aluminum is still very gorgeous as well, but looks very professional and industrial. I think Apple should never have discontinued the white model.
My least favorite iMac design.
I still have mine and it works perfect 👌
My favorite mac design
Are you implying that's not the case for windows users?
Windows is the default , anybody who walks into a store to buy their first computer will probably get windows , because windows runs their games and all their friends have windows.
Look at the technology scene. Pretty much every tech presentation is on a mac. Linus uses a mac (hardware) , google's android team is full of macs. Programmers love macs because OSX is UNIX but doesn't have all the issues of linux.
6:15 was it next year or year before 19" cinema display 1299 and 23" 1999 for screen alone!
the best computer design up til this point. no-one is even close.
I love Phil Schiller's speaking style.
oh well welcome to America and hope you have a verry happy life here. :)
Nobody replied you since 13 years 😂🤣
+nobody liked even 😂
this might have already be asked but, my friend loves the sims. and from what i see on the comments down there, i might miss understand, but can you run a windows version of sims on a mac?
Man imagine if the g4 design was the design of today it be so bad ass
@AppleProductFan these contained full sized desktop hard drives, ram, fans, and a processor that was very fast for a desktop in 2004.
When I was at uni back in 2008, I used one of these. I thought it was just a monitor and the computer underneath in a locked case or something...
Dumb.
tm it wasn't dumb, the idea of an all in one just wasn't well known
Except it only tilts a tiny bit instead of the G4. :( they should have kept the articulating arm portion. I hate having to buy a VESA mount separate from an iMac purchase today.
R.I.P. Steve Jobs
We will miss you dearly.
