That's why I always use a real-estate agent when looking for properties, If a bidding war breaks out I don't have to get dirty in the fight.
You are a coward.
I had a strong feeling this was going to happen given the fact it wasn’t the pigeons nest to start off with. It was just a matter of when.
I learn something new everyday, I thought birds just build their own nest where ever, like in trees. I didn't know they own their own property..lol
Yes!! They can they can even share it when it’s there Property
People made fun of anyone with birdwatching as a hobby for as long as i can remember thinking that birds are peaceful animals (you can blame Hollywood for this). Birds are metal af I've been obsessed with watching them trying to survive it's better than any reality show ever created
Sadly Kestrels and Owls aren't able to make their own nests. They don't have the strength in their legs and big enough ears to carry big enough sticks for a nest. They like to use other birds nests. Eagles, Osprey, anything big enough. This is why nest boxes are made for them in mind. Eagle nests are targeted a lot by Owls cuz they want to use it during their mating season. Some are successful, while some are not.
Forced eviction
@@stellviahohenheim What do you mean "birds are metal" and what is "af"?
the female Kestrel is more aggressive... I remember when the male came he left as soon as the adult pigeons started trying to protect their nests. The female is not like that. she made it look like it was no problem.😔
yes, i saw that too, more aggressive female.
i was thinking about that when i typed the comment🤔
@@dewbow134 Females are more agressive when it comes to their offsprings.
The male when it comes to their female.
Females generally are more aggressive in birds of prey because they are bigger, heavier and stronger
makes alot of sense, thanks! 😃
It’s amazing to see the amount of skulls and bones get piled in a nest in a season.
Yes, no f's given by birds of prey 💀
I've been in the avian field for nearly 30yrs now. And have worked "hands on" with everything from Warblers to Birds of Prey and Budgies to Macaws. And honestly besides a few strong wing slaps there isn't much a Pigeon or Dove can do against an adversary like this. If this had been a Jackdaw or a larger Corvid say a Hooded Crow. I think the outcome may have gone VERY differently. At least they have sharper claws and a MUCH more formidable beak. I remember seeing a small Kestrel try this on a Hooded Crow's nest. And it lost an eye in that battle with a well placed beak jab from the Crow. Not too mention the Crow was nearly 1x larger then the Kestrel so it was easily overpowered. Most folks don't understand just how tough Ravens, Crows, and Magpies are. They are formidable predators in there own right. And where they lack talons they make up for in sheer beak power. Just look right here on UA-cam for a video titled Crow vs Gopher. And you'll see EXACTLY what i am talking about. But i must warn you it's QUITE GRAPHIC and not for the faint of heart.
Corvids in general also have a huge advantage in numbers. If theres one of them around, theres a lot more nearby.
Corvids are also by far the most intelligent of all birds
Great example of why I love corvids so much. Both extremely intelligent and take no shit. Some owl species close in line, such as barn owl. Birds in general are just so cool, and I've felt that way for years.
Nature is in a state of permanent war.
She came back to kindly tell them to get off her box.
what did we learn?
Don't steal boxes form kestrels because they're going to have a fit of rage and claw your face off.
Very understandable. That nest was occupied by the Kestrels from the beginning. They laid eggs last year. When the babies fledged the pigeons took over. Now the adults are back, it could even be that the babies are adults now and returned to the old nest. Kestrels always win over pigeons.
that shows they have memory of places, even with time passing.Really remarkable.
cool, do you have anything to add that wasn’t just explained in the video?
3:00 owl to kestrel: You came at the wrong place.
Pigeon nestlings are like potato chips, you can never have just one.
Wtf bro, you made me burst out laughing unexpectedly
Pigeon Pringles!!!!!😆
Pigeons and their babies are the take away snack in the bird world.
yea because other birds are completely fine
2:30 Whoa, that's one carpenter kestrel, she even made herself and extra plywood partition for more comfort!
2 years or more capture of video kept in a 3 minutes video. Respect!!!
Did it give it a DROPKICK?! LOL
Videos like this are so facinating. In one video I was rooting for the Kestrals to protect and raise their chicks, and in another I was rooting against them taking out the pidgeon chicks. Nature is forever facinating.
Amazing video, thanks for sharing...
I need some Kestrels in my city. Pigeons are a nuisance, need population control
Peregrine Falcons serve that purpose much better than kestrels could.
the crows at my place is doing a good job at taking out pigeon squabs
It's because feral pigeons breed all the year round whereas most birds are seasonal
This Kestrel is the Villain of the Channel 😭
If it isfalco n
That's how nature is... People who think that human are cruel to animals in how we kill and eat them are just ignorant morons to how much crueler animals are to each other. The top dog of the food chain gets what they want.
@@coyote4961 difference between the two is that we know better and are supposed to be better in the way we treat animals
@@markm7936 Technically, we do... nature can be much crueler if not at least as cruel as the minority of individuals that take animal abuse to the extreme. Nature just doesn't do it for the amusement like some sick individuals do.... at least as far as we know.... Secondly, usually those who do treat animals with severe cruelty either have psychological disorders/instabilities or weren't raised properly by their parents... or these days whoever the call a care taker. That's the problem with the world now-a-days. Too much blame going around, but not usually where it should be.
@@coyote4961 my argument was that animals are no where near us intellectually therefore they arent held to the same accountability as we are, nor should they be. animals kill to survive which isnt cruel its just instinct. humans killing or abusing animals for pleasure is whats cruel, theres a key difference there.
Awsome video !
barn owl be like : are you comedy me ?
Nature is not always nice. By the way it was nice experience to join GAIA project from Czech gymnasium Arabská in 2012 and 2013. If only I had been more intersted in birds by that time, I would have enjoyed that even more :) For instance in May 2021 we had in residental area nest with baby eurasian jays. Parents were extremly protective and drove out kestrels from nearby block of flats and even magpies, if they got too close. 😃
The drive to procreate is strong.
What did happen this year?
Those talons look like more than a pigeon could handle.
thank you charter
Who did the pigeon evict after to continue the story?
Would the kestrel have eaten those chicks or did it literally dump them somewhere?
The kestrel's sounds while being attacked by barn owls sounded like the kestrel was crying or screaming
And the best part is that the barn owls hardly make a sound, other than maybe some hissing. Otherwise they just silently kick massive ass. It's cool to watch. I still remember the first barn owl vs kestrel video I saw. The kestrel was absolutely screaming it's head off constantly the whole fight, just wouldn't stop. While the barn owl was completely silent, just staring at the kestrel while kicking its ass. Corvids will always be my favorite birds, but some owl species are a close second.
1:59 if the kestrel was breeding and had to feed its chicks: would they attack pigeons in order to get food? Or do they show these attacks only when looking for nest side?
This is aggression that is is used to get their nesting site back. Kestrels do not normally feed on adult pigeons because they are too fast and too large for the kestrel. It would be too much trouble for the kestrel to try to kill an adult pigeon for food when there are so many small birds around.
@@gardenofeels6872 would they grap young pigeon chicks, when left alone?
@@luudest Yes. Young pigeon chicks (also called squabs) would be an easy meal for a kestrel if they are in a place where the kestrel can get to them.
nice sharing good luck....
The way the baby pigeons were facing perfectly forwards in the talons before taking off made it look like they were strapped in for some roller coaster ride 😭

This is why the barn owls didn't fuck with the kestrel
The barn owls fucked with them alright. The kestrel flew into their box and they kicked its ass and kicked it out.
Wow… natural is cruel but I hope the kestrel then can stop harassing the barn owls
yes
L
I’d be more worried about the kestrel in that scenario lol,
@@phillyb2424 they got their ass kicked.
Official poll.
Who do you like better ?
Pigeon or kestrel
imagine going home to find two pieces of chicken mcnuggets waiting for you....
I truly hate pigeons
At 2.48 did the pigeon kill the baby kestrel ?
No, at 2:48 the pigeon was feeding her nestlings
The crossover i didn't know i needed.
I'm all trying to understand what happened on 2:45.
Is that pigeon came back and killed the babies to the killer??
At 2:45 you can see a pigeon feeding its two squabs (nestlings).
Kestrel: "I DUN TOLD YOU!"
Do you clean out the boxes, and if so, how often?
It appears never.
Never why clean the boxes ? They are birds not human
@@satoshinakamoto7688 It's still not a great idea for any animal to live in their waste.
@@satoshinakamoto7688 They should be cleaned regularly no matter if they are animals or not.
Pigeons do not care. They will nest in the bottom of a pit and lay eggs in their own excrement, or on bare metal of operating machinery. Power plants have this problem very bad.
She's ruthless I guess the hatchling been taking too long for her to start her own family smh the owls could never let that slide
damn the bird was living there first before the pigeon came XD
I like how birds fight each other by kicking them.
Thanks!
Wait, the owl vs Kestrel footage seems... familiar. Like, from another channel.
But what happened to the nestling?
They most likely have had their first flying lesson.
They’re dead
@@Spider-Man2094 oof
So like.. that kestrel took those babies to like a safer place right? Like bird child protective services or something? I mean what a irresponsible mother to squat in someone's home
Are you deaf? This is Kestrel box, made for Kestrel, piegon multiple like nuts so not to worry that much
@Đan TĐM this clearly went over your head. Learn satire.
The home was extremely dirty, it was basically a rescue operation. Mother musta been on drugs. Sad world we live in.
Very interesting.
The owl succeeds to scare away the pigeon then it attacks it then kills the whole piegon
Wow!!
oh no! sad💔. maybe the kestrel will breed here
That one chick was eating a giant wing

Barn owls are too much for kestrels
wow interesting!
I see so they they are fighting for a spot to breed. Though some birds die... It's natural fight inside suburbs...
When a pest bird invades another birds nest, in time it pays the price.
This is good there are too many pigeons
I once saw something similar, took out the bird who was invading.
The end she was trying to rob a another nest but it didn’t work the owl was to strong
@Helenaville this is for you.
Those gentle pigeons have no chance when this Murderer appears
Cool kestrel.
Oh men. Can't any bird transport its chicks to a safer place when the bird gets attacked and the nest is threatened to be raided? It seems that they are not capable of. .....
What are they gonna do call an uber
Their feet and legs aren’t evolved to grip and carry like the owls or kestrels.
No, pigeons are not strong enough to carry any significant weight and still be able to fly. Their feet and beaks also cannot bear the full weight of a chick. Birds of prey can presumably carry the weight of a chick but their beaks and talons are sharp and would pierce the chick. Carrying young to safer places is mostly a trait of terrestrial animals such as mammals.
And partly because they do not have the physical capacity to do this, it is also not in their behavioural repertoire i.e. instinct.
A pigeon is not a raptor. They are not born to use their legs for anything but standing and gripping branches. Anything bigger and heaverier than that would be too much for them. Saying that though, no bird is able to carry their chicks with their feet/talons. If they did that the chicks would get hurt from the talons and the strong grip. So raptors/birds of prey can't do it either. That's why bird trainers need those safety gloves when handling birds of prey.
Where's Dad? Usually both parents defend the nest.
I mean, it knows there is food right there that cant move
Nice.
2022 and most idiots don't understand that Pigeons saved all our lives in the past... All of them are their generations, We are still having trained pigeons but sadly is just now for races, I don't take to fly my Pigeons due to a huge invasion of Hawks in my country and since they are all tamed they will be an easy prey, a days ago a fucking Hawk just dropped into my Garden trying to catch one of my Pigeons, 3 times took me to scare him away from my house and of course his mate was flying around. Hawks and Falcons are a big problem for us, the few ones who still have Messenger Pigeons
You like pigeons too..?
Well at least you call it a fucking hawk. Even though that is not an official name for any species. That means that they are breeding and keeping up their population.
@ Kiara Zocco...a "fucking Hawk"? All species have to eat to survive. Including your beloved pigeons. It's the cycle of life in the animal kingdom. I would imagine you would know that.
its not just that but they dont even matter to our lives
pests? pests are animals that harm our resources like food, pigeons do nothing other than scavenge tiny bread pieces on the sidewalks and eat insects and care about themselves
but what annoys me is the value...passenger pigeons are very famous for being one of the most common birds and suddenly they are extinct....what did people think about them? i bet nothing important but now look how much they are loved that they are extinct...it's hilarious how we humans can literally praise a dead once extinct common bird and shit on the living common birds...extinction of such species should give the lesson to apreciate what we have one day that rock doves will go extinct people will for sure love them just like we do with passenger pigeons
Mike Tyson likes pigeons.
You have to fight for what you have or want,it's that way in everything.
This is a little bit too raw!!😭
everything gotta eat 😔
I'm fine with this. Kestrals are awesome birds, great parents. Pigeons are rats with wings.

not all pigeons are bad! its a pity that some people don't realize that some species are incredibly beautiful. *sigh* if just theyd see the most beautiful pigeons in the world! Victoria crowned pigeons are stunning, as well as pink necked green pigeons, and Nicobar pigeons, common bronzewing pigeon, orange fruit dove, crested pigeon, rose crowded fruit dove, green winged dove, spinifex pigeon, pied imperial pigeon, blue crowded pigeon, there ARE some stunning kinds out there. talk about some colorful pigeons! the pigeons you see cities are NOT the only kinds that exist. So stop calling them "rats with wings." even the pigeons in the cities have beautiful iridescent color around their necks! pigeons are good parents too, they did TRY do protect their nest, but it was just too hard against the bird-of-prey, ESPECIALLY with the more aggressive female. The pigeons feed their chicks alot. Pigeons are good parents too😡😡😡
**cough cough** the pigeons that are in the city are THE SAME pigeons that saved all our lifes during first and second world wars, all of them are decendents from Messenger Pigeons of those years
yeah. People should stop hating pigeons. they just dont deserve all the hate. i HATE seeing comments in the comment section that say "pigeons are just rats with wings" and dont feel sorry for what happened to the poor babies..... theyre birds just like all other birds! they get a lot of undeserved hate. 😔
