I can't believe that no matter how many times I've heard this song.... it still delivers and gives me goose bumps. It's THE ultimate power ballad in all of rock history
Ann Wilson the best female rock vocalist ever, in my opinion. I've seen these guys live several times through the years and they never disappoint. Thank you for doing this one, there are so many great songs from Heart you have yet to discover. It's a fabulous journey!
Truly enjoyed your reaction to Heart/Alone. Your analysis was so spot on. I was 15 years-old when this song hit the airwaves. I remember buying the album on vinyl, cassette and CD. It seemed everywhere we went, this song was playing. It hit #1 on Billboard and MTV and was named the 2nd best song of 1987, by Rolling Stone magazine. Thanks so much for this! 🤘💜🤘
I was a teen in the 80's when this was released and love all things by Heart from that decade. But I really dig how their music from the late 70's sounded. Songs like Barracuda , and Magic Man , Crazy On You. Either way they are an incredible band .
You should do Heart's Number One hit "These Dreams" which has the blonde sister Nancy doing a rare performance as lead vocalist. It's haunting and beautiful.
It's a Power Ballad and still going strong 💪 as ever, in fact it's a favorite song by ladies at karaoke nights to this day and still being played on radio.
My favorite heart song! Their biggest hit to date. 3 weeks at number 1 in July of 1987. Was 7 that year and remember it well on the radio. I can actually sing this pretty good and yes, hit Ann's high notes. I love shocking people when i perform it at karaoke lol. I did it one time where the host sang harmony with me. amaze balls!
Wooo! Everything by "Heart". They are outstanding. I saw them "live" in the late 1970s at a county fair, hot, sweaty, and they were rocking it. Just... yeah!
Big respect that you actually reacted to that note(s) she belted in the middle of the song. So few reactors even seem to notice it which is wild considering I've heard the song 10's and 100's of times and still react to it every time. Thank you!!
Of course women can rock! They were one of the first successful female rockers. They started in the 70s where also the Runaways with Joan Jett and Lita Ford dropped out. If you can't get enough of Ann Wilson's voice then check out Wait for an answer but it has no video..
This song was written by Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly. They also wrote: Madonna's "Like A Virgin", Cyndi Lauper's "True Colors" & "I Drove All Night", The Bangles "Eternal Flame", Whitney Houston's "So Emotional" ... among so many other hits. Heart is lead by sisters Ann (vocals) and Nancy (guitars) Wilson.
One of my favorite songs from the 1980's. Ann's voice is such a powerhouse. Nancy is an amazing rock musician. When they harmonize, it is just perfection. One of the best covers of this song is by country girl Carrie Underwood who went out of her comfort zone on American Idol to perform this the year she won. She blew everyone away. If you haven't seen that, you should check it out, too.
Great reaction/analysis! There's nowhere near enough reactions to Heart, aside from early recordings of Barracuda and Crazy On You. Please, please, please react to more Heart. And if you're looking for live concerts, they have a lot but imo, Alive From Seattle is easily their best dvd from beginning to end. Anything from that would be beyond appreciated. Highlights are Crazy On You, Straight On, Mistral Wind, These Dreams, Alone, Dog & Butterfly, Heaven, Battle Of Evermore, Barracuda, Wild Child, and Dreamboat Annie. Do as many of those as you can. lol Ann and Nancy are both at their absolute best here. Great reaction again and I'm now a subscriber!
You're hooked NOW! Try sum earlier stuff from Dog & the Buttery album. I love all of the stuff from them then. Just sit & get lost in Ann's VOICE. She is so emotional in her voice.🇺🇸💙💛👍
Ann is my favorite female singers of all time. Powerhouse singer of rock to me that has no equal. Stevie Nicks has is unique voice and she's in a class of her own. But Ann always delivers. Check at some of their 70s stuff too.
Check out when they did the Kennedy Honors Awards tribute show to surviving member of Led Zeppelin with the son of deceased LZ drummer with them. Obama's were there. Brought tears to Robert Plant's eyes the performance was so powerful
check out Heart videos stranded, what about love, nothing at all, these dreams! and other female rockers like Joan Jett, Lita Ford,Vixen, Pat Benatar! the ladies in Heart are sisters Ann & Nancy Wilson!
I heard this song from Celin Dion on my vacation in Mexico in 2017 and I remembered hearing the song much earlier. Back home, I researched the group HEART as the originator of the title - and that it was published by Heart in 1987. I also found Ricky Polidoro (also called Ricky for short) on youtube, who from my point of view sings the title much, much better than Celine Dion. Bryan Magsayo also sings the title fantastic. However, Heart's stage presence is unmatched!
You’re so cute, I can’t say it enough. Songs, such as this one make me proud to be born in the 80’s. Notice how they’re focusing more on Ann’s face? It was during this time Ann was struggling with her weight and the director didn’t feel she was appealing to a mass audience. The kind of scrutiny women are subjected to in the industry is maddening. Love your videos, keep doing what you do.
I think Nancy was overrated in this song, she only sang backup vocals for her sister Ann who was the lead vocalist, and Nancy only played bass guitar in this, while Howard Leese was the lead guitarist, but of course they featured Nancy alot more than Howard.
Talking about the explosion of sound during the second pause. You have not yet gotten to the delayed explosion of sound. The one-measure delay really screws with the brain. You will see what I mean.
I kinda miss 80s power ballads. At this point, the sisters had gotten clean, and Ann was putting on weight, so they began filming her behind objects. The label had created this look for them, that they hated (male bands didn't have to put up with this sexist stuff). The corsets were the final straw, and they returned to looking human again.
Not nearly as rockin'...but Dereck, I think you'd like "Something In Your Eyes" from Richard Carpenter's 1987 solo album"Time"...song features a wonderful lead vocal by Dusty Springfield.
The sad part of this is Ann was minimized in the videos because she gained weight, a lifelong struggle for her. Notice how most the of the video is focused on Nancy and they only shoot Anne from flattering angles. Always felt awful for Ann after I learned this.
Sometimes watching these 80's/90's videos of Heart pisses me df off. That veil you speak of was one of the director's MANY ways to camouflage Ann's weight. Her sister Nancy was always out front as she was deemed more pleasing to the eye. Ridiculous.
Dereck, I think u would like Morissette's "heart medley" songs from the band Heart including this song. Ann and Nancy would be proud. ua-cam.com/video/UZV9KZaY3pU/v-deo.html
You totally missed the point of this song. She's not singing about being lonely. She wants some lovin' and needs to get her man alone so she can get some!
I love this song, but hate this video It's clear they were avoiding Ann's body. And she was sooooo stunning! It would be nice to have rocking shots of her singing, in the way they did with Nancy. But at the same time, they sexualized Nancy too much.
Hi I love this video and the song but I didn't like the way they put Nancy out front because was the right look. Ann was treated bad because of her weight. Ann and Nancy are beautiful now and then. Ann is 70 and Nancy is 66. They both have new albums coming out in the new year and both have singles out now also. Ann has lost some of her higher register.
You absolutely destroy the flow and emotional content of the song when you keep stopping. The brain literally releases hormones( endorphins, etc). That cannot be maintained. You NEED to listen to it all the way through, then comment.
I have seen them in concert 9 times and trust me, she kills every time. They are incredible at a live performance.
LOVE,LOVE,LOVE this song....no one could ever sing this song like Ann Wilson!!!!
😍
I can't believe that no matter how many times I've heard this song.... it still delivers and gives me goose bumps. It's THE ultimate power ballad in all of rock history
She’s so gorgeous
I love the way she sings "aloooone" towards the ending...
she rattles my musical cage in the best damn way...Thank You Ann

Saw these ladies 8 times. EXCELLENT!!
Ann could sing anything. Vocally every song she sang she could do live. Her Power was ridiculous! Good Video!!
thank you, looking forward to more Heart
@@DereckReacts Can't Wait!! Wish you would try Donna Summer MacArthur Park.
You won't regret checking out Heart doing "Stairway To Heaven" Live at the Kennedy Center Honors 2012 - goosebumps!
Yessssss!! That was EXCELLENT!!👏👏👏
For sure, for me if not the best, one of the best hommages ever, best cover of a song, the best rock song ever. Goosebumps.
Portugal here.

It's a Power Ballad and still going strong 💪 as ever, in fact it's a favorite song by ladies at karaoke nights to this day and still being played on radio.
My 2 of my favorite 80's girls!!! Yes, Barracuda, If looks could kill, Nothing at all!! Lol 😘
My favorite heart song! Their biggest hit to date. 3 weeks at number 1 in July of 1987. Was 7 that year and remember it well on the radio. I can actually sing this pretty good and yes, hit Ann's high notes. I love shocking people when i perform it at karaoke lol. I did it one time where the host sang harmony with me. amaze balls!
if it is not the best vocal performace of the decade it must be close! she is AMAZING, it has been covered by famous artist but nobOdy cAn toUch ANN .

Ann and Nancy Wilson started Heart with their friends from high school and began in the neighborhood garage .
Love this song.
Spot on reaction! Very intelligent and articulate!
Of course women can rock! They were one of the first successful female rockers. They started in the 70s where also the Runaways with Joan Jett and Lita Ford dropped out. If you can't get enough of Ann Wilson's voice then check out Wait for an answer but it has no video..
Thanks for the great reaction. I enjoyed your comments about this classic 80s rock song.

Ann as wonderful as ever but listen to These Dreams - sung by Nancy this time. xx
to hear them in person was wild ann kicks ass with that voice
loved your reaction to this awesome rock song
Heart Alone.. when a song make you crying because it's juste too good 😅 these women 👌

Gotta love a power ballad like this...
My girls!!! Love them ❤️
The Wilson sisters were the 80s Powerhouse both vocals and guitar ....... Rock Ladies
I saw Heart in 1980... Yeah it was an epic, phenomenal concert.
Saw them many times...they are great live.
Your reaction to this made me subscribe. I felt the exact same way the first time I heard it!🥂
Love this song and "What about love" was my other favorite from this album 😍
That was from the album Heart that also had These Dreams. Alone was from Bad Animals.

This was my cry into yr coffee break up song in 1987 when I was 16...
This was one of my favourite songs from 87
La mejor banda de rock de mujeres en la historia. Tremendas.

@@DereckReacts man, ya gotta do Dog and Butterfly....
This song is brilliant, love it love it love it 😍
The Wilson sisters. Anne Wilson the brunette is the lead singer. Nancy Wilson is the blonde she does the guitar and is a great backup singer.
You should react to more rock , do some exploring some hair/ glam metal since you liked this 😁
Two of the sexiest women in rock!
BEST ROCK SISTER GROUP EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dude please do more HEART ❤️!!!
You’ll LOVE “Magic Man” & “Crazy on You”
You’re welcome 😉
You must cover Magic Man and Dog and Butterfly. Even better songs!!
Just thinking about the lyrics alone. Hahaha good job

Try the live acoustic version of this song.
Good tune love Barracuda more
Fabilous!
This is a cover of the song originally by iten
Nancy kills it on this song!
I think Nancy was overrated in this song, she only sang backup vocals for her sister Ann who was the lead vocalist, and Nancy only played bass guitar in this, while Howard Leese was the lead guitarist, but of course they featured Nancy alot more than Howard.
No one can match Ann's voice!
Powerful Rock ballad from the same Madonna's Like a Virgin songwriters.
Her sister on the piano and lead guitar
They are also sisters
Nancy Wilson really is one of my favorite guitarists. Very talented. As is Ann.
Talking about the explosion of sound during the second pause. You have not yet gotten to the delayed explosion of sound. The one-measure delay really screws with the brain. You will see what I mean.

"You know"
No one sings rock and roll better than Ann Wilson. And they are incredible live. Seen them many times. They've got great songs over five decades!

Floor Jansen just dropped a cover of this song on her UA-cam channel. Please check it out
She also did Let it Go
Dereck, I think u would like Morissette's "heart medley" songs from the band Heart including this song. Ann and Nancy would be proud. ua-cam.com/video/UZV9KZaY3pU/v-deo.html
You totally missed the point of this song. She's not singing about being lonely. She wants some lovin' and needs to get her man alone so she can get some!
But he's not bothering his arse...
Reactions to Evanescence?!?
I love this song, but hate this video
It's clear they were avoiding Ann's body. And she was sooooo stunning! It would be nice to have rocking shots of her singing, in the way they did with Nancy. But at the same time, they sexualized Nancy too much.
STOP! Ann isn’t wearing black to symbolize death! She always wears black!
Hi I love this video and the song but I didn't like the way they put Nancy out front because was the right look. Ann was treated bad because of her weight. Ann and Nancy are beautiful now and then. There are many commenters telling him the same thing, but sadly he doesn't seem to care. the guy has no respect.
