It’s always nice to see rare piece hoarders and scalpers complain because their “rare” piece is now more available.
I agree, which I feel the same for stuff like Lego Star Wars Clone Trooper minifigures
Like when action figures get re issues and people complain. Bro I don’t care if you can’t get 10x retail for it it’s more important more collectors get it
I play TCGs and I'm always happy seeing prices go down due to reprints even if I already have the cards.
@@sawderf741yeah, it's always been frustrating being priced out of having a particular card for no particular reason. MTG really improved things for a while and even rarer cards (of the current set) were like $3 at most, but they've become an absolute garbage company as of late.
I hate artificial rarity and the scalping effect.
Fuck em, it’s not meant to be rare or any more expensive than it’s original market value.
Discontinued sets sealed are okay-ish, with exclusive pieces. But this piece is just scalphyped.
Back in 2011 I recieved a duplicate Rocka XL from a friend of mine. He felt so bad gifting me a set I already owned, while I was sooo happy because he gave me so many gold CCBS shells.
Well, guess I should not tell him about these other pieces lmao
This kind of thing kinda breaks my heart to be honest. I love Lego but the aftermarket is SO intense at times
We'd be all better off if eBay and bricklink just ceased existence
The LEGO Star Wars aftermarket and community as a whole convinced me to no longer care about LEGO Star Wars. Nobody should have to pay $100 or more for a minifig of their favorite character, that's stupid. I wanna collect the Astromech droid minifigs but even those cost silly money. It admittedly gives me some sick glee to watch people get mad that a minifigure that used to be exclusive to a huge set now comes in a $15 set... good. That should never have been the point of collecting LEGO.
@@Thinginator Lego is for kids, I'm an adult who enjoys it but I first and foremost see it as a kids toy. And because of that it should be within the budget of a kid's allowance or summer job. Lego currently isn't that. No wonder every kids theme dies within a year or two
@@Thinginator totally agree on that last part. I still love it but I’m no completionist
You are all acting like supply and demand doesn’t exist. “Lego should be this, lego should be cheap” thats not how the market works, its worth what people are willing to pay for it.
The lego "investors" and resellers are ruining the hobby. No singular 7 year old piece of plastic actually has value that high. People whonpay 100$ for a plastic goat are simply stupid. These things don't hold any real value at all
Agree, some people just want the goat for the I-have-a-LEGO-goat-and-you-don't clout. Any time something is rare, some people will want it just because it's rare, and some people will get irritated that the thing they want is rare and thus more expensive than it should be.
I understand collecting if you genuinely like the things you're collecting, and there are always the completionists who only consider their collection perfect if they have one of everything. But this inevitably draws the attention of people who want to exploit those collectors, and know that some will be willing to pay whatever it takes to get something few other people have.
As I've been looking into the prices of old Bionicle stuff, I find I just can't get excited about most of the recolored masks and whatnot when people want $15 or more for them. It's cool that they exist and all, but like... it's just a little piece of 20 year old plastic, it might be worth that much to somebody but I can't justify it personally. I've been looking to piece together a Tarakava set since that's my Bionicle white whale of sorts, but of course every teal piece and even many of the blue ones are ridiculously expensive because the Tarakava has so many set-exclusive parts in those colors. I'm thinking the only way to overcome that is to not be perfectionist about it, and use less expensive alternative parts instead, like the teal Miru mask instead of the Kakama. It'll still be a big weird teal tank lizard thing in the end, and that's all I really want anyway. Who cares what specific mask is on its nose?
@@Thinginator I will never spend more than 10$ on a singular part, ever. And honestly I look down on anyone who would.
Get a fucking job.
haha 3d printer go rnnh rnnh rnnh rnnh rnnh
I just look at Webrick and see if a part is there. I love getting recolors that I want that Lego doesn't make or is crazy expensive. Eventually, Lego makes it and the price comes down to normal.
“Yo bro I have an idea to make some quick money”
Lol
Happy nation living in a happy nation
I remember looking for the black version from Black Phantom and it was $15 US. I proceeded to find two of them at my local bricks & minifigs for $8 with other bulk.
I rember back in 2011, my aunt accidentally got my brother and me three copies of Bulk 3.0, so that, in addition to having basically every other set that included this piece, made this video very surprising to me! I had no idea it would be so rare because I’m so used to seeing it on my sets!
God damnit, one of the most useful and common parts is only like that because of collector culture, god damn it
Shoutout to [Pearl Dark Gray Hero Factory Shield with Bar Handle], gotta be one of my favorite genders.
The largest thing affecting the price is that all those figure scaled Hero Factory sets where only sold I Europe and the UK not in North and South America as we only got the first wave of these sets hut not the second and third wave before that theme was discontinued.
I'm fortunate enough to have a Lego resale store nearby that has bins to pick your own pieces. I grab this piece any time I see it. Very useful with nice connections, small size and just enough detailing. Wonderful. Also comes in silver and black!
Good that you can get some at that store. It's a great piece for MOCs in any colour!
I'll probably never get the Darth Maul bust from 2001 because of 4 Black Quarter Circle Panels making it super expensive. Now to be honest, I'd still need the instructions to feel like I own the set and those go for at least a hundred dollars+, but there is one Alpha team set that comes with only one of those Panels in Black and individually, the last time I looked, that piece goes for $40 because the only reason why anyone wants it is because they're making the Darth Maul bust with standard bricks that don't cost a lot, but you need 4 of those panels for the base. It's a death sentence for wallets everywhere if you try to make the set accurately instead of swapping them with other colored panels.
Yeah my Dad and I built the bust with our own parts and just replaced those pieces with normal bricks, honestly I think it looks better that way.
But yeah, insane how expensive that piece is hey
Man I miss Hero Factory... Also, damn, the second-hand markup and scalping on lego, sad.
Bro I have so many of those thanks for those ideas love your vids
Lol, I've been wondering what the deal is with this piece. Thanks for the vid! I was fortunate enough to find them at a local b&m
It was a first my lego bricklink store sell - 5 used (like new) piece for 25$ overall, that shipped in New Zealand. Few years ago. ^_^
This piece very detailed, looks impressive and good for moc's. Also mocer's need a lot of them. I see this piece very often in custom mech builds, i think it's also about demand, not only about color and sets number included. That's my opinion. Thank you for video!)
It’s a fantastic piece that can be used for advanced leg techniques!
Good for advanced armor decor too!
I use it on Ehlistar for the back of his thighs. They look great!
I don't have the moc with me currently, but I used this piece with exoforce robot hands, LOS leg tip parts, and a technic part that I'm drawing a blank on what it is call, but I basically put the exoforce hand into one of its opening and the other opening with the LOS leg tip to make some shoulder armor for the moc
the funny thing it’s it’s not WORTH more materially, if you had a mould for it it would be like… 1¢ per piece
This is a similar situation as the flat silver 61678 part, that comes only in three sets, but one of them is the Billund airport from 2014.
Super interesting video, nice job
I have two of these in black, used as heels for a custom
Never thought anything of this piece, just considered it a kinda bad-looking armor piece that's hard to use unless you specifically need the bar on the end. But I must say, this video has given me a new appreciation for it. I've got some of those gunmetal grey ones from the tiny Rocka crawler mech (my only invasion from below set), the white ones exclusive to the Green Lantern set, and the black ones from Black Phantom. Will I use them in mocs more often now? I don't know, probably not. But are they slightly more interesting now? Yes.
I've considered covering this exact piece as well when I realized I only had one (until recently)
One of my favorite lego part
I remember building the bat pod set. My dad and I ordered the parts and this one part was the last thing we needed. At the time the part was like $22 dollars a piece. So we bought 3 of the hero set with three legs for $4 each they were so cheap. People started buying up those sets in droves to sell the part. Now the part is only like $8 so more affordable I guess.
I'm glad I own a ton of these pieces.
15$?, your telling my i cut apart a piece that valuable for a gunpla when i couldve sold it, i cut 10 of them for that 😭😭😭
The F***ing "Hero Factory Arm / Leg with Ball Joint and Ball Socket, Short"
Funny I have a bunch i don’t like the part myself but seeing it on Mocs makes me wanna hoard it in case I do the same now
We posting on brick link with this one 🗣🔥🔥🔥
i loved these pieces very much and used them a lot in my mocs... I have so many of them but all of them left at parents house after i moved to another country which makes having them uselless-i still have to spend overpriced money on them haha!
u forgot to mention the lime green variation also coming in the HF speeda demon set
I feel illegal to be here soo fast
same
Real
3 days ago is crazy
7:30 R.I.P Mars people
2:51: There were *1000* sets, not just 750.
It was 750 sets _in the US,_ and 250 _in the rest of the world._
I have this piece! (Bonkers)
i have some of them nice
I've got like 10 of these laying in a drawer XD
Since a new batpod will release mabye the price will go down
Bro need some i have like 10 of them (in grey)
I hve the minifig from the invasion below set..
5:14 of course its from poland😂
This piece is in a lego hero factory shark too right?
"This lego piece is so expensive"
Me looking at my Bionicle...
My Bionicle: don't you dare even think about it
damn i gotta try selling these
There used to be a chinese version on Ali, at 5 bucks for 10. But it doesn't seem to be available anymore
Rocka XL was the best
ahhhh spec~tacular, another thing i can blame on licensed themes!
Ive found this piece recently in a box i paid 5 bucks for,... i had no idea its that expensive
I dunno man I'll have to find out
It’s really unfortunate for everyone who wants to use these pieces for anything else. I’ve tried to find some for sale a few times and I always just have to give up because they’re always more expensive than I’m willing to pay for them. At least now I know the story behind why they’re so expensive
The only thing better than BIONICLE ,is more Bionicle . Hey cut me a break I'm old and I just got up.Thanks for another great video MR .BEN .take care
I have a shield
As it happens, i digged up like 4 of these, am i rich? No, but i surely will sell these
That's actually a huge fail on Lego's part. Releasing a very limited set for an entirely unrelated theme that people need to complete their collections, resulting in Hero Factory MOCers being screwed over.
I was kinda hoping they'd be worth $50 or something, I have a shit ton of those
the middle finger
Can you please refer to Australian dollars as dollerydoos
kinda sad thath this pice is quite expensive becuse of a really rare set.
I still have no clue how to sell my unopened rocka xl, let alone what to sell it for
Me who has a lot of these: Guess I’m rich!
It is a finger
So the expensive ones are from a competitive prize offering. Weird.
These pieces aren’t expensive on bricklink anymore. Guess people moved on?
$15?! Whaaaaaaaaat
I have probably more than 10 of that shield thingy... Am I rich?
Hi
this is goddamn fascinating
also, 100th comment
I'm just gonna say it. The Bat-pod from 2015 looks bad. Really bad. There's a simple level of detail on the original ride, but they didn't even really bother very much when they released the OG. It's super barebones and I'm lowkey glad that it's getting a better look and a figure to scale. The OG Bat-pod didn't have anything to match it, so it was just a skeletal bike build. The new version actually looks like it was given the time of day, especially with the way the base of the bike itself and the handlebars are build. It's a very clean look and it looks far more like it will keep old Batsy safe instead of turning him to cheese with the lightest breeze.
Of course it's a famous billionaire celebrity causing the price of a common resource to be grossly inflated.
Nah imma bout to get rich
SCORPIO FANS STAND UP!!!!
The white ones of this piece that I've seen are even more at times.
THE ONE PIECE IS REAL!!!🇨🇦
Qué mamila
I would’ve totally thought that was a Megablock and thrown it away if I found that in a random lot.
me after hearing one piece
0:06
We found The One Piece
One piece is real ! ...y expensive
haha 3d printer go rnnh rnnh rnnh rnnh rnnh
Well now I hate Lego Batman
Imagine winning and getting this ugly bike
The bike's super ugly yo
yet another time where licensed themes ruin everything i see
