Seeing these masks in alternate colors reminds me of the old mask packs, and it's a real shame that they only did this at events with the reboot. Always interesting to see people using these masks on mocs though. Especially the trans-clear ones offer a lot of creativity.
If I ever start collecting Bionicle masks, I shudder imagining the process of obtaining every really expensive official mask. The number of half-a-grand masks I'd need to get for the sake of completion sends a chill up my spine.
Yeah I've just started getting back into Bionicle and have already decided to lower the heck out of my standards when it comes to anything with rare pieces. I like hearing about rare parts, and when they're rare but not expensive then they're fun to have, but I can't even justify spending like $15 on a mask. I've been parting together a Tarakava with multiple Bricklink orders and I'm using a teal Miru instead of correct mask because it's only $3 instead of 15 for the correct mask, but that's still the most expensive single Bionicle piece I've bought so far. I get much happier about the masks that only cost a few cents because then I can get a bunch without feeling like the hobby is too expensive. My favorites so far are the Metru matoran masks because they have cool marbled silver patterns to them so they seem like they should be fancy expensive parts, but actually they're dirt cheap. Can't wait to build cool MOCs with them!
honestly play stippling’s moc, rapahu the deceiver, is provably the best use of the mask. the black and neon colour scheme looks amazing and as standard with his mocs it’s just filled to the brim with details
Kulta got an exclusive mask recolour in a polybag, in the same vein as the trans neon orange hau polybag or the mask of creation/cape polybag. It has the skull mask in gold, but for some reason bricklink does not list it as appearing in that colour. Probably because the polybag isn't properly inventoried. It is a really neat recolour though, and the bag does also contain a neat stand.

That isn't arguable, it's just fact.
3:00 The description suggests this copy could be numbered as 1 of the 1500 that were given out. It's possible there is a market out there for the first of limited numbered giveaways, and that's who they're targeting. Pics on demand could mean that they do in fact have 1 of 1500 and not 73 or 287. It's still a ridiculous price, but the mentality of this seller seems to justify that price. The only thing that really debunks this theory though is that there doesn't appear to be a number anywhere on the packaging in all the other pictures you've shared indicating that they were numbered X/1500. So I don't know, they know what they have, they just expect too much.

Tbf we did get Ekimus mask in Transparent Blue, but yeah you'd thing Any of the other characters or villains would get a special mask

I'm pretty sure the reason this thing was labeled as "skull scorpio mask" is because, and _only_ because, its color matches the skull scorpio set.
Which does make me want to see a trans purple version appropriate to the basher set. :(
Okay, I get that they were very limited and stuff but I refuse to believe that those comic-con exclusive minifigs and the like are well and truly worth those asking prices.
I thought it was only because of the blister pack it was so expensive, but than I looked at the price of the actual mask by itself and it's still ridiculous.

I have about 20 of these masks just sitting in my closet, ended up being given them from someone who attended the inside tour. They also gave me the blue Gali mask which I stupidly sold for 1/3 or what it goes for now…. But yeah, I really should do something with the trans green masks one of these days
