BMW need to make their sound systems consistent. Considering this car and the the BMW i4M50i are priced around the same, you would have thought they’d have equally as good sound systems. However, the i4 managed to be in the S tier whereas this only managed a B tier. Great video!
Personally I think that in the M cars a Bowers&Wilkins sound system should be standard equipment, especially considering that you can get a system from the company in a $50K range car like the Volvo S60 Ultimate. Even if you get the same amount of speakers you would get from the Harman/Kardon in this car, chances are it would still be a lot better considering you need at least slightly over $62,000 in order to buy any 2023 M2.
I have 2 BMWs, one with the H/K one with the HiFi. I added a Match amp and sub amp with a JL Audio sub it sounds amazing. In the one with the HK, I added a sub amp and Memphis sub, it’s very good as well, just a step below the other system

It's possible they sound similar but external factors affected the rating. I was probably too kind to the M240i. But also price plays a small factor. A system is going to get more benefit of the doubt if it comes in a cheaper car.
Honestly, I don't take these reviews seriously. Everyone has their own taste when it comes to sound. Secondly, he cheats and says he's going to keep everything at factory default (which most owners would never do) and then he turns off the surround sound because HE doesn't like how it sounds. Which proves my point about us all having different taste in sound.
Also could be the subjective nature of these tests. As much as I'd love to say they're perfect, without both cars next to each other on the same day and with a "palate cleanse" between, it'd be hard to directly compare. Lots of external factors at play.
@@g-mailglongaviki4157 nothing has changed with the tuning from iD7 to iD8, and this is coming from an BMW employee. However, the HK system has been improved from the last generation 2 Series.
Are you rating the systems in their default eq settings or are you rating tha actual capability and quality that the system can produce with the best settings for a given type of music? because the first one doesn't make much sense
The speakers under the seats aren’t subwoofers. The bass performance in this car is horrible. The HK in my 2022 WRX does have a subwoofer and it really pounds the beats.

Weird how this got a B, yet the M240i gets an A. They need to make their systems more consistent. I love the HK system in my M240i

Yeah it seems like he has all the flat default settings which is pretty pointless.
🥸OBVIOUSLY, the 14 speakers are to balance the piped in engine noise and not for a GREAT MUSIC.

BMW probably overhyped the car just for the aesthetics as opposed to sound quality.
