    4 tablespoons butter, room temperature, divided
    1/2 yellow onion, chopped
    2/3 pound ground chuck
    2 1/2 teaspoons garlic salt
    1 1/2 teaspoons black pepper
    4 slices American cheese
    4 slices rye bread
    6 tablespoons Thousand Island dressing
    1.Preheat griddle to medium-high.
    2.Melt 1 tablespoon butter on griddle. Add onions, toss to coat with the butter, season with 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper and cook until caramelized.
    3.Combine ground chuck with 2 teaspoons garlic salt and 1 teaspoon black pepper. Shape into 2 patties. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter on griddle and cook the patties in the melted butter until well caramelized. When the patties are flipped, top with caramelized onion and 2 slices of cheese each, cover with a metal bowl and cook until the cheese is melted and the burger is cooked through, about 8 minutes total.
    4.While the patties are cooking, toast one side of the bread in 1 tablespoon melted butter. Spread Thousand Island dressing on the untoasted side of the bread and top with patty.

  • @katrinalynn1981
    @katrinalynn1981 11 років тому

    I don't think it was necessary to fry the hamburger meat in butter. The grease from the meat will do the job just fine. I'd only add may 1 Tbsp to the onions (if that) and a small smear on the bread. The bread is the important key factor here. It's supposed to essentially be a burger in a grilled cheese. I'm not even going to get on the size of that burger....

  • @Fantic1980
    @Fantic1980 11 років тому

    That looked fucking disgusting. A whole stick of butter to make one totally oversized burger? Thousand island dressing... on a burger? 500g of beef and a whole stick of butter, but only 2 tiny slices of cheese? Give me a break, this looks putrid. Not what I'd call a melt really. Cooking a burger in butter? *shudder* would taste horrible.

  • @UnderwaterMaiden
    @UnderwaterMaiden 11 років тому

    Okay, clearly you are using 2 tbsp butter in each bit... From a stick of butter, there are 8 tablespoons. You guys divided it into 4 bits, one for the onions (which was CLEARLY more than just 1 tbsp), one for the patty, and two for the bread slices. That is a lot of fat. Not only can you guys not measure, but you want us all to get fat? This recipe is just totally gross.

  • @Rainsofchange
    @Rainsofchange 11 років тому

    I usually don't care if a recipe calls for butter, but the majority of the butter used was just unnecessary. Most of it went unused and pooled in the corners of the damn griddle. You could've put the patty down where the onions once were and use whatever butter that was left there. What a waste!

  • @maykasaraneni3335

  • @yumakami
