First off I wanna be clear; I LOVE the C8. It actually inspired me to buy my first Vette ever, a C7 Z06, as a placeholder until I can get a C8; and I think the C8 fully deserves all of the acclaim it's getting. That said, I think that excluding exclusivity as a factor in purchasing an exotic car is a mistake. For the majority of exotic car people, that's the point; to get something that few people have, not necessarily one that outperforms everything. Every Ferrari owner has encountered that Honda Civic kid, or Mustang driver who wants to live out their Fast and Furious fantasy, and has put 10k into their $1500 rust box, and can now blow your doors off at a stoplight. Cheap? Yeah. Fast? Sure. Do I want one? Nope. The biggest weapon in the C8 arsenal is that it appears to be gunning for the premium market, where the big boys play; but premium and volume don't really go together. I hope the net effect of the C8 is that it forces the exotic manufacturers to re think their "because we can" pricing, and really give us, the customer, something that justifies their high price of entry. A $7600 steering wheel, $30k engine ecu reflash to get an extra 40 hp, and call it a new model, or a $20k dashboard isn't gonna cut it any more. My two cents.
That's not true at all. There are many reasons to buy other exotics over a C8. Looks, quality, status, performance, investment (as in appreciation - which the C8 will never do), fun, heritage/history, a more interesting interior experience, etc. If you believe a C8 is better at all of these things than any exotic, then I would say you have a bit of bias clouding your judgement.

@@michaelmcmillen3178One of the reasons is It has to do with the Central tunnel of the car. Here's a quote from Tadge Juechter, Executive Chief Engineer. "That tunnel is the backbone of the car, and if you break the backbone, you lose a lot of structural efficiency. With a shifter, you have to have a big hole in the tunnel for the linkage to go through."

@@michaelmcmillen3178 When it comes to cost 15% is a big number if you're spending. Mind you the central tunnel is the backbone of the car itself. What you and the small base of manual only people want manufacturer to give you something that would undoubtedly not be worth including because you can't adapt.
Great video, all good points. Would also add trunk space, and large dealer/service network across the country, which means a lot of mechanics will be qualified to work on the car.
I don't CARE what the typical "SuperCar Owner" thinks about a Corvette... Most of them Can't DRIVE their "SuperCar" Super Fast... If they DO, they end up wrapped around a Power Pole -- like a certain Hollywood Star -- and most of them only "style" in their S/C on Saturday night or some Big Money Event... And they can keep buying their Expensive cars to 'look good while driving'... while Corvette owners are Really DRIVING. An "Affordable" Corvette that offers even CLOSE to the performance provides a LOT of "Not so Rich" folks to have a GREAT TIME ... and quite possibly to Out-Drive Mr or Ms SuperCar... Why not let a Lot More people enjoy Super Performance & Handling..?
Didn't happen. It was just a rumor. Think about it, even C5 and C6 corvettes get modded to over 1000hp and don't bend the frame. People should really think if the stuff they hear makes any sense before believing it.
Speaking of future upgrades to the Corvette performance... Chevy has already said they will be "Transmitting" upgrades to the ECU and on-board systems over time. SO... you could be driving down the highway and get POOF! An UP-GRADE! Let's say 25 more HP on the way to work one Thursday afternoon... So the Question is... IF you pay for an "Up-Graded ECU" from a "speed shop/tuner" ... will the Factory "transmission" re-set you to Factory Settings and END your Performance Up-Grade..? OR will parts of the up-grade then be incompatible with your Custom ECU or other performance enhancers..?
Unfortunately there are plenty with money to burn who jump on exotics and care more about how much they spend vs what there getting. It’s a bragging right....I paid 200K for this car, how cool am I? I really don’t see the average exotic car owner jumping ship for the (in there eyes) ghetto C8. If you run the numbers and look at percentages of the depreciation you gave with the exotic, it’s 30%. A C8 that sells for 70K will go lower than 30% in the same amount of time for the example you gave which would be under 50K. I also believe not many, if any C8’s will be sold for under 60K. Not because of ADM but the upgrades everyone will want will push it closer to 70K....just my opinion.
The C8 as it stands will not disrupt the supercar market until Z06 models come to the forefront. It will disrupt the used exotic market across the world once production is ramped up. 488, 911, ASTON MARTIN, ALL BMW M3 AND 4, LAMBORGHINI UNTIL AVENTADOR, McLaren and any other USED supercar is on the menu with all of the C8 variants. The American exotic car market differs and is dominated by people using them as status symbols. That's over with and I highly recommend you get out of car flipping asap. That's how serious of potential this car can have on the market. The entire German sports car market is under serious threat JUST BY THE BASE MODEL ALONE. That includes AMG AND 911s. Who is dumb enough to buy a M4 at this point.
I believe the disruption could occur even sooner than that. Just wait till the aftermarket really takes off for it, and you see twin turbo c8's ripping everything in their path! Can you say, "Underground C8"? Has a nice ring to it! If you haven't already seen it, there's a rendering floating around of a widebody twin Turbo C8. It looks insane... Sema will be nuts next year. Aside from Air cooled 911s, yes the Used supercar market will be very very bloody. I don't believe New Supercars will take as much of a beating(especially Lamborghini or Ferrari, jury's still out for the others) because as you said, they're being bought as status symbols. How the sports car market evolves over the next few years will be very interesting, to say the least.

And there's a bunch of after market companies for all exotics even some hypercars had after market options. And a targa dont make it better i mean koenigsegg have targa tops and most other exotics have hard top convertible.

I am glad they did this. Simply the price point for the level of car you get. It has dumped the price of some of the used super cars out there. The R8's have fallen into the price range i can swing.
by the way, tuning potential, price and mid engine are the biggest advantages of this car. the design is not unique, but here comes the tuning again. they need to widespread it over the world and in a future make some awd solutions. it will become a great competitor to new supra and r35 gt-r as a tuning platform, oferring price somewhere between them and huge advantages in tuning perspective
There is going to be a ruck of twin turbo or supercharged C8's for sure. Add some after market carbon bits, a rap, some new carbon wheels and super sticky tyres and you will be about 30,000 dollars below the McLaren 570 base price.
This new C8 Vette to the rich is like offering them to buy a knock off Rolex watch. It looks and functions the same as the original Rolex, costs less than half the price of the original Rolex. Where’s the exclusiveness in buying that over the original Rolex watch for the rich. The C8 Vette is aimed at the working class buyer, not the rich. It’s to give us working class an opportunity to own a mid engine sports car that normally only ever get made n offered to the rich, so kudos to Chevy for giving us, the working class, a car with exotic looks, but not with an exotic price tag.
This comment tells me you don't know much about luxury items. A rolex is exactly like a corvette, semi expensive, but attainable by the average person who wants to save up. The crazy expensive luxury watches are in brands like AP, Cartier, Jacob and Co, Hublot, RIchard Mille, etc....
As an exotic mid-engine sports cars buyer since 1996, having bought my cars new from a dealer, let me say, you cannot drive the "exotic" aspect at all. You can only drive the car. Now, consider the mobility of people these days. I've moved several times since my first purchase of an exotic car in 1996. It got old having to check how far the nearest dealer was from where I moved to. You don't get these cars serviced at a non-dealer. It is much more risky. Even if the owner of an 'import car service' business is a former Ferrari mechanic, what about his staff? That got old, worrying about access to factory trained staff. Also, what if the one dealer in your area is bad? You've got nowhere else to go. It's been nearly 1/4 century I've owned Euro exotics and it is a freaking BLESSING, the number of Chevrolet dealers with Chevrolet-trained staff. There are FIVE (5) Chevrolet dealerships in easy driving distance of the city I live in. My god that is a valuable benefit. "How booked are you guys, can I get my car in for service?" "We're booked out for the next 2 weeks" Then you have FOUR other dealerships to try. With my latest trip to the dealership for service on my exotic it took 2 1/2 weeks for a spot on their schedule to get the car into the shop. And no other dealerships within driving distance. The nearest dealer is over two hours away. You cannot drive the "exotic" aspect at all. You can only drive the car. The numbers on this new Corvette model are incredible. I suspect the price on the entry-level version is a "loss leader." It is a bargain price and the benefit of tons of factory-trained dealerships is a hugely valuable part of the deal. . . .

A 40% loss from a 75k expenditure is still much less painful than a 30% depreciation on 150k! The depreciation on a C8 is far easier than on an exotic...
Exotics tend in the end to hit a level and stop then rise. If you buy something thats made in the 40k/yr range that won't happen as much or at all.
@@tcroft2165 sorry but I think that is just a totally presumptuous thing to say. It COMPLETELY depends on the make, the model and so many other things! It's not even something you can reasonably state about "classics/exotics in general". Just like saying "Fords are typically reliable".
@@markchip1 Not really its more than half a century of evidence. SCs are produced in such small numbers that given time and attrition they just appreciate. Even cars that were unpopular in their time and looked down upon by collectors are now silly money
The main factor that you're leaving out is bragging rights! Celebrities and high-dollar professional people don't buy a exotic car to compete with a Corvette they buy it for a status symbol to show that they're very comfortable financially! That's why so many of them have low miles not because they're worried about depreciation they just want them sitting in their driveway🤣🤣
Operating an aggressive shifting dual clutch is super fun...ive been a stick guy until having the opportunity to drive a dual clutch. It's almost addictive clicking up n down the gears
I disagree. I sold my GTR because the DCT was so boring. I had to get back into a manual car.
Excellent analysis❗️More reasons to love C8❗️Will get one!
HOW MANY PEOPLE THINK THE C8 CORVETTE IS A SUPERCAR KILLER
Lexy Dabbs All that matters is how the driver feels behind the wheel. If they like it… Sold!
I CAN DRIVE THIS CAR TO WALMART EVERYDAY
Bro, I'm gonna be the coolest kid at the mcdonald's car shows now!~
I agree 100%. Chevy is making dreams come true. Loving your coverage of the C8 over everyone else. Keep killing it man and thanks for the coverage.
WAY TO GO GMC AND CHEVY , YOU HIT THE BALL OUT OF THE BALL PARK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree that we need to keep a standard transmission as an option!
I agree with yours word you are right I know that no other manufacturer gives these types of thing in a very low budget chevrolet made this masterpiece to shame many supercars
😎 Exactly..
Spot on! Great observations.
Anyone who says anything bad about this car has way too much money or they drive a Honda and act all mad. This is the greatest sports car. And not even for the price. It's just amazing all around. What a beautiful machine.
Sold out! Want one you have to wait for 2021
They all stopped building manual transmissions because only a TINY percentage of crazies want them.
@@michaelmcmillen3178 I agree , but... I have a feeling a bunch of the stick shift guys ( like me) who test drive the C8 dual clutch , would buy the dual clutch, even if a manual was offered. I'll give up a clutch pedel for a manual trans that shifts itself faster than I can, but still gives me complete control.
@@michaelmcmillen3178 When it comes to cost 15% is a big number if you're spending. How about you think about the sunk cost to develop a manual to fit this car, let alone the cost to retool the entire chassis structure to accommodate the passthrough for the shifter. Mind you the central tunnel is the backbone of the car itself. What you and the small base of manual only people want manufacturer to give you something that would undoubtedly not be worth including because you can't adapt.
Real men drive manuals all the millennial fan boys that can’t drive a stick are little bitches.
i dont need reasons why it's better, I need to know reasons why it's worse, cause I need deterrents from buying it
Great video, all good points. Would also add trunk space, and large dealer/service network across the country, which means a lot of mechanics will be qualified to work on the car.
Poor man’s Ferrari. I got to get a Corvette C8
They are honestly such beautiful cars
Twin turbo c8 corvette ❤️
This is amazing. Basically made a corvette Ferrari
Well I think you should add trunk space too C8 Corvettes has huge trunk space for a supercar of it's kind.
Dude stop saying C8 Corvette we know we know what it is
I love the Camaro love the Corvette best cards in the world for the money you’re easy to work on
The new Vette is bad ass. I still have yet to hear how they handled the frame problem. Torque bending them. How did they fix it?
Didn't happen. It was just a rumor. Think about it, even C5 and C6 corvettes get modded to over 1000hp and don't bend the frame. People should really think if the stuff they hear makes any sense before believing it.
Also, Huyndai, is coming out with a smaller mid-engine car, the RM16.
With The McLaren we see a Grand Total of LESS than 30 Locations Nationwide.
The Chevrolet Dealer Network larger by orders of magnitude...........
It'll probably take me 4 or 5 years but I'm getting one of these.
Came to vid with a lot of skepticism. Video paid off 100% legit. gg
Stradman is going to be buying one in sky blue
I love the new C8😍
I know you said “their eyes” but I just can’t imagine C8 and “ghetto” in the same conversation. Cars like the Dodge Challenger... yes, GHETTO!
Its said that a 570s routine oil change is 800$ and if under warranty it has to done at the dealer costing 30k year
Haters: You have to drop subframe for an oil change.
Chevrolet: Bitch please’
I would want to wait until the second year and see the ZO6 and the ZR1 before choosing!
Great video 👍
Great reasons and breakdowns.
Loving this one thanks for sharing very important information giving thanks blessed love to all knowledge is power hopefully everyone pays attention keep up the good work 🙏🙏🙏🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲💪💪💪
buy one before chevy realizes that their sales department priced it too low.
Yes this car is straight badass, and Im a big chevy fan anyway, but this wouldve made me one if i wasnt. :)
GOOD then these these other car manufacturers need to make their cars more affordable. I dont see a problem with the Corvette. We are not all millionaires
You can upgrade to leather dash interior in the 3Lt trim plus high wing for better looking rear end around $75k still great price!
Speed I love your analysis
Speed phenom is infatuated with the c8. Are you gonna do a poll now saying how much the c8 is better than your supersnake?
The C8 is the type of car that makes AARP members feel young again
😂😂😂
Dude your cherry picking Cars you picked the 570 over the 720s because you know it's slower than a 720s then you jump to a car thats a hybrid car with a 2.4 sec car with lower production Numbers and have more expensive materials. And there's a bunch of after market companies for all exotics even some hypercars had after market options. And a targa dont make it better i mean koenigsegg have targa tops and most other exotics have hard top convertible.
Spoken like a person that would be scared of a 4 second 0-60 car, to begin with. Haters gonna hate. I race people with exotic cars all the time on the track, they are afraid of their cars.
I AGREE 1000%. Those are some of the reasons it's now; my favourite Supercar of all time!
I suspect the price on the entry-level version is a "loss leader."
It is a bargain price and the benefit of tons of factory-trained dealerships is a hugely valuable part of the deal.

I agree with you about shift times. But facts are fact. The c8 isn't available in stock because no one bought the stick c7.
Best performance "supercar" for an affordable price for young adults
Buy a clean low mileage Used Miata... best fun and dollar value! Drive one and see. Forget about these high priced toys for the rich. Average buyers should all test drive a Miata first!! Especially the good used one with the power retractable hardtop!
Spend less then $10k for the best driving fun ever! Get a Miata used!
@@rembo183 I intend to drive one someday. Preferably an RF newer model.
Miatas are nice, but way too slow.
Nathan Nguyen you’ll be shocked at how much fun it is to drive. The used ones are great. The pier Retractable hardtop isn’t made now only the RF which is a targa top. I have an 2008. Very nice car and cheap to own and maintain. Purchased as second car but I’ve used it to commute around town and it’s a blast.
Bring back the round tail lights for it is not too late.
The cars had 4 different models.
Take your pick.
I can already imagine the engine mods some people are going to push it to beyond the limits soon in a car like this?? Hell yah America! !!
Not requiring engine-out for basic maintenance is a huge plus.
Cars haven't required that for about 20 years.
@@EK-rr2md Wow - that's exactly what Car and Driver and 4 other publications claimed. They must be liars. You should tell them they're wrong. They'll be glad to get the message and know that their experts and writers are all wrong. Whew - close one there.
@@mgabrysSF apparently you have trouble with reading comprehension. Try reading my comment again and then think about what it says. I said, mid-engine cars have not needed the engine removed for basic maintenance in about 20 years. I didn't disagree that the C8 will also not need it out. The Ferrari F355 was the one of the last mid-engine cars that routinely had to have the engine removed for work.
@@EK-rr2md Those articles citing other mid-engine cars are so wrong. So many wrong - you should tell them and do them a favor. Don't forget to remind the publishers and writers about their reading comprehension skills. Because writers, amirite? Pfft!
@@mgabrysSF Since you are obviously such an intellectual giant please tell me what current Ferrari, Lambo, etc require routine engine out services. Go ahead, I will wait. I cant wait for you to prove me right.
It's not just soft time. Car companies are eliminating the manual transmission because they can't handle the power, so it's a reliability and warranty issue. Mustang said its because of shift times, but they're simply using that as an excuse instead of indicating that they can't make a reliable manual transmission to handle that kind of power.
Only a very small fraction of the car buying market is buying manuals.
Very small. Manufacturers are all about making a Profit
