What’s up S. Perez my Escalade was doing the same thing, I literally just fixed it right now for $40 all thanks to your video good looking out for everybody that has this issue. Thank you!!!
$96.00 and about 20 minutes later, my 2011 Yukon is functioning as it's stored to. My only recommendation would to add in "affix the exposed rod end of the strut first." Doing this allows you to grasp the rod cylinder type and spin it to properly align the support. I replaced both of the struts, because I don't know or care if one was good vs the other.
Worked for me!!! Now I think my tailgate motor isn't strong enough to pull the new supports back down lol 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️ Keeps popping like the gears are worn when I try to let the tailgate back down. Goes up just fine. Thank you
hdcaprice Yes that can happen and there is nothing wrong with your truck, if you can make sure you close your liftgate somehow, Force it hold it in place unplug your battery, for a good 20 minutes plug it back in should reset
Dominic Vanni This is the only parts you have to switch out and they only cost $20 online rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F121433473580
Keep in mind this won’t always fix this issue. Mine started out doing this I changed the struts then nothing. It ended up being the powerlift gate motor (not powerlift gate lock actuator that just releases the gate from the lock) one of the main gears was stripped out. You can hear the motor running as I would manually bring it up a quarter of the way and it do it the rest and then when hit the button to bring it back down nothing would happen but I would hear the motor try to bring it down.
tnx fro video,,if you do this,,secure latch with proper support while you work ,this thing might kill or seriously injure you if it drops back,,sht heavy,,,,
Jennifer Taylor I apologize I misunderstood then, if your trunk does not open at all then yes you need to replace the motor the motor is to unlock trunk so if you can hear the motor but the trunk won’t open yes you need no replace that motor , I was thinking that your trunk opens and goes up a little bit but not all the way .
Mikelley Kelly I got these at auto advance, or you can get them at AutoZone or O’Reillys, The only bad thing is that they cost about $150 for both. On eBay or Amazon I am sure they are way cheaper but no telling what they might not get the job done who knows
@@sperez6140 Ok, thanks! That's outrages! I was able to go on ebay and found them brand new (same model number) for 15 bucks a piece! Thanks for the video.
Eric Roberts I know this sounds,“ weird but people buy stuff all the time and return it with the damage product inside the new package please exchange them because if one of these item is defective it will cost the tailgate to come down again . if they are working perfectly, The Tellgate will not come down again

Will this work even if mine doesn't open at all? I can hear the mechanism wanting to open but doesn't
Thank you, I assumed my lift motor and assembly may have to be replaced after my Yukon had same issue.

Will those cause it to not come down when you push the button to close it on a 2008 Escalade?
Thanks for the input! Great video with a bad ass beat.

My tailgate won’t lift, you can hear motor running but won’t open. Do you think this will fix it? 07 Escalade
Jennifer Taylor Honestly yes this is a problem on GM suv
I watched your other video changing out the latch motor. Is the lift motor that raises the door the same as the latch motor in your other video?
