Regardless of what you may think you forget, certain images stick in your head imo after even a passing watch. Like the image of the scout leader giving the mother an arm. Eren watching in horror as his mother is eaten. Armin warching in horror as Eren is eaten. The first glimpse of the Collosal and Armored Titan. Such striking and powerful Imagry
Okay so, it's important to note that the City where Eren and the others live is extremely huge. EXTREMELY huge. Each district is contained within circular walls; an inner wall (Maria), a middle wall (Rose) and an outer wall (Sina). The distance between the inner wall and the middle wall is something close to 100km; from the middle to the outer was about 130km and the radius of Sina was about 250km; which means that's only 250 km across, not all around the whole city. Each wall has a kind of bubble poking out on four sides. It is within these bubbles that MOST of the population lives. Everything else inside is made of forests, farms, rivers, lakes and just all around nature.

Technically they are ALL soldiers, but you had the right idea when you mentioned that Hannes was a "City Cop." Sort of. lol There are three military devisions: The Survey Corps or Scouts - they have the symbol with the wings; there is the Garrison Regiment (which is what Hannes belongs to) - They have the Roses symbol: and then there are the Military Police - They have the unicorn symbol.
The Survey Corps/Scouts are the ones that venture out into the wilds to explore their island and eliminate any titans they encounter.
The Garrison Regiment Patrol the Walls and "police" the population.
The Military Police protect the High Class in the interior - which is INSIDE Wall Maria. they are very rarely EVER outside that section. The Nobility keeps them close.
I think the thing you have to remember for Mikasa. Literally the last words her surrogate mom in Mrs. Yeager told her was to "protect Eren" pretty much. How would you feel if those were the dying words of the woman who raised you? Not to mention we really find out why Eren is so important personally to Mikasa pretty fast.. Call her annoying, but it all makes perfect sense to me.
Not hating it but don't ask for nuances of most channel reactores, most of them just react visceraly without considering context, i mean Sue Even blamed Hannes for not saving erens mom when She was actually screwed before he Even appeared and didn't consideraré that it was the first damn Titan he encountered face to face...
omg omg omg omg omg ive been watching you for almost a year now and omg omg omg omg i love that youre reacting to aot, this is the best show ever to exist in the history of humankind. I will be here for every episode.....
One thing that this show portraits perfectly is the humans and their emotions, reason to why they, instead of just be like nothing when someone dies in from of them or their friends are being eaten alive, they show all kinds of reactions, even the ones that are not the favorite of the people while watching media, like just standing still due to shock factor or distrust and despair in each others due to fear, those are very human things to feel in situations like this. Also I suggest you to read the mid-info cards that appear in the middle of the episode, they are important because you can learn about the equipment that they use (their functionality and limitations were use in this episodes), the world and even some other kind of facts. But aot world is so complex and full that every little detail and plot point, like characters in the background, their behaviors and why they act the way they act. Also hidden messages or clues to the mystery of the plot and foreshadowing can be found since episode 1 and it doesn't end there, hope you enjoy this journey!

It's obvious to us that it's Eren - the main character doesn't just die right away. But to them there is no main character, and Titans are not human.

There's a (sort of) parody version of this show as well - that's called "Attack on Titan Junior High" - that you should watch after this season. It's much more lighthearted, so it's a fun change of pace after what this show will do to you. so far as I know they only made the one season of the Junior High version, but I'm certain someone will tell me there are multiple Mangas for it. lol.
On a side note there's another anime that I very much enjoyed but it didn't really get that far (only one season) but the concept was amazing. It's called Chrome Shelled Regios.
Also other anime from my own personal likes list that may be of interest. If not, no worries, I just wanna suggest them and hope you might react.

Keep in mind that in the first chapter of shingeki no kiojin Wit Studio changed Eren's dream, for this reason at the beginning of Chapter 88 (the one-hour special) Mappa corrected that mistake. Mappa made that correction because Eren and Mikasa's dream is fundamental to the end of the work. In the first chapter of the manga it is understood that the dream that Eren mentions having had is about Mikasa and him, what was shown in the first chapter before Eren wakes up (titans, toys and corpses) is a change made by Wit Studio and has nothing to do with Eren and Mikasa's dream shown in the first chapter of the manga.

ive been seeing reactions to this godly anime , im going to throw some details u may missed or some things that should make a better experience.
16:28 hannes means eren has the courage and he has the strenght , bot lack of something extremely important, so cant do anything anyways.
APART , there are some details about carla's death. she started lying telling she has her legs crushed but if u notice when te tittan gets her she moves her legs trying to fight. also , when hannes takes away the kids and she says "dont go" she cover her mouth so eren and mikasa cant read her lips and notice she didnt want to die , she wanted to be saved. and im not gona describe it , but the scene of she dying was so much brutal , isayama had to remove it bcz it was to much even for him.
20:25 no it cant be that way , cz u need ppl planting and harvesting food, u need medics ,and so , also if u see a thing almost 7 times ur size eating your family alive would u go and face it ? normal ppl would be scared of that things dont u think?

46:38 once again , its not easy to fight gigant humans , that can grab u anytime and will not leave u fly to their weak point like a butterfly, so a swarm of that things is imposible to get close by , no matter if they kill 2 or 3 , probably all of them end up dying.
57:54 this anime its not completely a fiction anime , u should look at the characters and their behavior and thinking like its real life , this is a masterpiece and re viewing it gives u a completely new experience, blv me. try to think about it more realistic.

Attack on Titan was my first official Anime (since Avatar: the Last Airbender is debatably not Anime). I think I rewatched the first season at least 3 times before Season 2 and the dub came out. I am now caught up and waiting for the series to finally conclude. Get ready for an epic tale.

You might find some people hound you about missing things in this show. Don't let it get to you. It's easy to miss things in this show, and you can pretty much still get a solid watch-through while still missing some things. Just enjoy the show however you want to enjoy it!

I would say Mikasa is more clingy than entitled. But I think you may end up changing your mind as you watch more of the show. But I agree; early on Mikasa is very annoying. Once you understand WHY, she gets more sympathetic. At I thought so.
I think people need to remember the literal dying words of Mrs. Yeager to her as well was to protect Eren. And ever since, she has as much as she could. It's a heavy burden, but one shell never take lightly. Along with the other things we learn of course
I just wished that you choose the dub honestly. Believe me it's more fun and will be easier to understand the nuance and details for the non Japanese speakers, and this is coming from someone who's prefer the subs but still recommended the dubs for the western users
