I agree and Nevaeh needs to Ask Jeremy to keep helping her do these things until she no longer needs him to help her & she can totally do it all by herself on her own without his or anyone’s help. Great skills for all girls and boys to have in learning to be self sufficient! 😁👍🏼

My suggestion: Allow parents to purchase large apartment items like bed washer/dryer and plan on leaving them behind. Purchase nothing that won’t fit in your car and or whatever size uhaul trailer your car is capable of pulling.
I agree 100%! If you choose to buy larger items, you must consider how much it will cost you to move them. If you need to hire a mover, rent a truck, or other. The expense to move will outweigh your item's expense. Not worth it.
You are soooo lucky to have a Dad who is ready, willing and able to teach you how to take care of your car! This skill will save you so much money, time and pain in the future!! Yay, Dad!!❤❤❤❤❤
Daddy made me learn to change my oil, filters, plugs and tires before he let me get my license. At least you have gloves. You haven't lived until you dropped the plug AND his wrench into the old oil you just drained then have to fish it out with your bare hands. Those are good memories. LOL!!! Anyway, you did a great job and you've got this! You're dad did an awesome job teaching you how to do this. Wait until you get to change the tires. I can still see myself having to JUMP up and down on the tire iron because the lugs wouldn't break. Fun memories.
Nevaeh, if your lug wrench is the kind that just has one size lug on a bent bar, either ask your dad or you go purchase a 4-way lug wrench. It gives you waaay more leverage when getting off those lugs. Also, remember to ask the tire folks to NOT over-tighten your lug nuts when you have tires rotated or replaced. They use an impact wrench, and it oftentimes takes a gorilla to get those lugs off!! You need to be able to get them off in an emergency.
I am 70 and my dad was a Greyhound bus driver and he told me before I got my license, that not only did I have to pass drivers ed, but I had to pass his instructions. He taught me how to change a tire, oil, keep the battery in working order, and equip my car with emergency bag, including jumper cables. Best training I had because it came from someone that cared about me. You are very fortunate to have such caring family to help you learn these life skills. I love your first purchase. It is bright and colorful. When you are not using it for tea, it will make a beautiful vase. Adulting is hard sometimes, take it slow, you will always be an adult, enjoy life before all the hard decisions need to be made.

When my wife and I got married and moved into our first apartment, we had a bedframe and mattress, a ceder chest, a 19inch color tv (old school), and exactly four plates, cups, bowls, utensils. You will do well because you have your parents and family giving you the love and life skills you need to succeed.

I love your comedy style. You are so lucky to have the parents that you have. That's a gorgeous place! I can't wait to see it filled with furniture. And you living your best life!
I hate clowns, too. Creepy. When I was little, I loved them, but Hollywood ruined that for me. Can't wait to see how you decorate your new place! Great video. You always make me laugh.
If ;you like iced tea I highly recommend "Y'all Sweet Tea" It is the best! I know it says "sweet" tea, but it doesn't have sugar in it letting you decide how much is good for you. The instructions is on the back of the package. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. That's actually one of the choices along with plain, peach and raspberry. You can also get caffinated and decaf. As I said before, It also comes either in gallon size or half gallon size. I love your videos!
Neveah I am very happy for you and I wish you the very best in your apartment. We all have the thought when we are kids turning adults wanting to break free and get all grown up and have our own place. A great idea your parents have done building the apartment/flat above the garage for you to try it out and experience all what it takes in purchasing goods for a home etc etc. Love your videos they are so humorous and I am so sorry about Kenji he was a lovely dog. Take care and look forward to watching your journey. Your mom and dad are going to feel it their first born turning 18. Have a lovely week.
May I suggest a Fumoto oil pan drain valve. No plug removal, it replaces the plug. Just move the lever and voila, it drains. Not as fast as with the plug pulled but WAY easier and WAY less messy. Don't forget to check/change the cabin air filter as well. Go for the parental furnished apartment. If there is something you really like and want to take with you, you can buy it cheap because it is used ;) You are a clever young lady Neveah, I expect you will do well whatever it is you choose (and you are a good musician). NEED college to make a living? Not necessarily. Maybe not what YOU want to do but we need trades people and they make good money. Where would we be if all the "could have been a carpenter/plumber/electrician" people go to college and get desk jobs instead? In a tent, in the dark, with a bucket that's where.
well, don't tell your parents I said this because they might not like me, but anything that wears out over time you leave behind and let them pay for it, and you take the things that retain value. Mattress stays, Bed Frame you take. Couch stays, coffee table you take, dishes you take, rugs stays ... I hope this make sense. Also, I am not sure how far your closest IKEA is but when I first moved out on my own, I bought a lot of items there and now, almost 30 years later, many of the dressers, cabinets, even chairs still exist and are getting used daily.
I'm a 2006 too, I'm going to turn 18 in May, and I'm French. Things differ so much from France to USA, to me it's a whole different world; though, wherever we are, this period of "becoming an adult" is quite intimidating and initiatory in anyway, and I understand you because I think I share some same feelings (about what this age represents; wisdom teeth removed; social pressure, etc). I'm homeschooled too (I would even say "unschooled", and it's been 10 years I'm autodidact), I'm an artist (notably singer and musician) and everyone is asking if I'll get my bachelor degree; but actually, it's not my plan, because I think I'll simply not need it. But when you are a novice in adulthood, and Responsabilies :-b, everyone open its mouth on what you should do; it's benevolent, they worry about you, but at some point they can communicate you their anxiety: it made me quite apprehend turning 18 so soon, but after all I think it won't be such a catactysm, hahaha! Anyways, your videos makes me feel less alone and spend funny moments! Thank you, and greetings from a 2006 french girl. ;-) Salut! 🇫🇷 ღ𝒾𝓁𝔞 🪶 📜 🐿 🌸
Great job on your first oil change! My dad taught my brother & me how to change the oil, pack wheel bearings, and service the transmissions on all of our vehicles, 5 or 6 at that time, before we could officially drive😂. I think he wanted a pit crew😊. Good luck on the move, you'll do fine.
Another awesome video Naveah and the fact you are deeply missing Kenji is so understandable, Losing a loved Pet is such a challenging moment but also a very inevitable experience that we all must one day endure as many of us have. you show that you are 100% human and Kenji was all the better for the life that he shared with you growing up great great to see you learning skills from your dad. Jeremy is an awesome teacher and so is mom Melissa, you literally sound like her. It’s such an inspiring reason to be following your entire families journey. I get to watch all three of your channels yours GSL and NWOS and so following the SOUZA family is a great inspiration. You all are thank you from Regina Saskatchewan, Canada, as always.🇨🇦🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🌹🥰💯🙏🏻
Congratulations on learning how to change your oil. I think you got this having your own place thing. A lot of people I know furnish their home with the small things like dishes, bed linens, towels etc from everyone's favorite store Walmart. Letting mom and dad supply the large furniture and appliances will allow the apartment to remain furnished when you leave. Yes, being a pianist I believe you need some sort of keyboard. My dream piano is an electric baby grand in cherry wood. Wishing you the best. Wish we could see you more often on your channel.
I just realized that your name spelled backwards is Heaven. Hah! I guess everyone else probably already knew that and I’m late to the game? 😂. Ok I’m gonna watch your video now....
Neveah, I love the way you are approaching this big change in your life! I am a senior citizen now, and I can tell you that my entire life might have been very different for me if I had approached this change with a plan. (a plan is defined as something that changes the moment you contact the enemy! 🤣) Keep it up and start looking at places like Walmart (ugh) and look for some pleasantly pre-owned. My wife is big on used pianos. They are frequently very cheap because no one in that household plays it anymore or no one wants to spend the money to move one.. Look around, you might be very surprised and pleased. Just take some strong guys (plural!) and a trailer when you go pick it up. Best of luck and I am looking forward to your journey!
Keep your eye on those corners, they will escape from the bag and run away. You'll never find them. Get another bag, there are several flavors. Stack as many in your apartment as possible, in case there is a food shortage. 🙃💖🌞👑✝️😃
You’ll never know what size your apartment will be…I bought things for one that didn’t fit in next…just a heads up do dishes pots pans vacuum silverware glasses etc…things you need.
Just a couple things: There is also a filter inside the car (probably behind glove compartment) that filters the air from the outside for your heater/AC. Funny smells can come from that after a while; When shopping for initial set up, think need not want. It'll help in your budgeting; Now is when life gets bouncy, like a yo-yo. Be prepared! lol You are VERY fortunate in your upbringing. Even though we've only seen a little of that, the results you all are showing give ample examples of what you've learned. I do believe you have been blessed and pray blessing continue through your life. Be strong. lol
The transition period from childhood to adulting is an exciting and confusing time. Learning to do things for yourself i.e. maintaining, and choosing what to put into an apartment can be taxing, just embrace these experiences. You have a few months before moving so make a list of what your essentials will be and complete that list first. Then do the decorating part. All those small little details can be done after you move in. Don't rush so that you can enjoy the experience. This was another good video. Keep up the good job!
You are ahead of your parents! I saw a set of stairs going up to your new apartment and Mom and Dad have not shown it being built on their video. Saturday is just a couple days away! Remember, as your parents have set the example, you don't need to buy new stuff or full sets. It's you and sometimes a few guest. Start looking for yard sales as the weather gets warmer.
My adivce? LIVE YOUR LIFE, not others! This will be the most free you'll every be, so live your dreams! Yes it scary for all, many will try stop you due their own fears! The deal is, if you want sing? Then do it now!
I think you should make a Amazon , house need list and put it out there, people would love to help you set up your first apartment !! A little help goes a long way !
2 words. THRIFT STORES! I find the best stuff at a thrift store. Sometimes i also find nice furniture at a antique shop that doesn't cost a fortune. Best of luck on this new adventure. I remember when i moved out. I also moved 12 hrs away. I definitely do NOT suggest that. I missed my parents really badly, 2.5 yrs later, i moved back home. 😂😂😂😂
Speak with friends of the family , see if you can get a fridge/freezer 2nd hand, likewise bed frame, cooker/washer/dryer, buy yourself a set of pans and crockery / cutlery. cheap which will do for a few years and replace with better as time passes .In the the uk a lot of supermarkets have a basic set of kitchen utensils ,pans ,and bedding, towels etc as a student starter pack around the time college starts. Mattress buy new because its your back.
Navaeha, I'm just sorry that you are planning for this experience at a time and in a place that is very expensive. I started earning money mowing lawns before I was a teenager. And I learned to paint interiors in south Florida with my father's business. I took a job as a bag boy when I was 14 years old. I was earning minimum wage of $1.95. I'm 61 now and I've worked several different jobs. Doing something you like or have an aptitude for will help you you reach your goals. Good luck! Also in 1977 when I was 14, I paid my parents rent!
Good job with the safety glasses!! You should note the mileage when you change the oil and check your owner's manual for the recommended interval to the next change, Car repair places note the mileage on a small label above your head on the windshield so you "can't miss it",
Good on you kiddo! I made my daughter also learn how to change her own oil as part of learning to drive. The more you understand about your car, the less likely someone can "scam" you into unnecessary repairs or maintenance on your car. Keep it up, you are killing it!!!
Is that a sneak peek of the new staircase. Great to see your learning new skills that will be handy in the future. My Ex’s daughter allowed the engine to run so long, it killed the engine. I tried to teach her but she just didn’t want to know from me.
Knowing how to change your own tires and oil, and minor electrical/electronic work for your dash and lights are really good skills to have. Sadly some cars are more hassle than they're worth to do the oil yourself because the oil pan is either hidden behind several panels, or it's above the front axel and nearly impossible to access. Oil filter location isn't much better, and I swear they design engines like this on purpose just so you have to go to the mechanic. The cool thing is when they just shove a hose down the oil access cap on the engine and can just suck it all out.
I am surprised your dad waited till your nearly 18 To teach you how to change your oil. I started driving trucks and tractors when I was 13. Before I could drive any of them I had to learn all the basics of how to care for whatever I was driving. Good skills to learn. 😅
My first items came from yard sales, and a Walgreens dollar isle.... for baking, and cooking. Walgreen's probably doesn't have that anymore, though, as I am 65 now. lol You will do great, and these days go by so quickly! Enjoy them! God bless!
Good for you learning the maintenance on your car!!!!! One little point… make sure the rubber gasket on the filter comes off with the old filter, if it doesn’t, pull it off the base the filter goes on. If you double gasket the filter it will make a huge mess and more importantly run the engine out of oil.
From childhood to adulthood. What?! Responsibility?! Ooohh fragglerock! You've got a good base too build on. Everything ontop of that just builds strength and character. You'll do great!
Thrift stores, garage sales, estate sales and FB marketplace to score some really cool deals! Retail is abominable! Also, buying gently used items saves it from going to the landfills.
It was awesome seeing you learning to change your own oil with your father’s help! That’s something that you will always have. Be sure to keep a log of your mileage when you changed it so you know when it’s due again! I hope you know just what an awesome family that you were able to grow up with!
Nevaeh, you have a wonderful Dad who is teaching you about cars. My Dad never told me that the oil needed changing in my car. He asked me about and I was like what are you talking about. When you do not educate your children about these things, they will never know otherwise. Anyway, my first car got its first oil change at 25,000 miles. Cherish your Dad.

have your parents furnish the apartment with the basics bed, couch, tv etc. Piano and large Pooh are for you 😁
You will be fine, Mom and Dad have raised you well. By the way, your hair is gorgeous!
I hate clowns, too. Creepy. When I was little, I loved them, but Hollywood ruined that for me. Can't wait to see how you decorate your new place! Great video. You always make me laugh.
The very best to you. May God be with you in your travels, please keep us informed of what you decide to do.
Congrats I've watched you and your family for a few years. Good luck on your next adventure. May God be with you always.
You have the COOLEST DAD EVER!
I totally agree ! It is like a “Jack-in-box” and I told you so! RIP dragonfly…..so cute
A good look at a ( todays) kid starting to
plan for their future!!
You got this Miss N!
🤙🐺🧙♂️👍
Happy for you neveah!!💜💜 congratulations 🎊 on all the new up coming changes wishing you the best,, and have great thrusday..🩵🩵
You are a big girl👍🏼
You can do this👌🏼
Believe and it will be ok💐❤️
Thank you, and greetings from a 2006 french girl. ;-) Salut! 🇫🇷
ღ𝒾𝓁𝔞 🪶 📜 🐿 🌸
Oh no way! I totally get ya. I’m glad you like them! Thanks sm ❤️
Iced tea lemonade. The best
You are amazing! Such a joy and thank you for allowing us the opportunity to watch you grow!
😂. Ok I’m gonna watch your video now....
well so it is.. atleast you are not the last one to learn this tidbit
You are funny. Good luck in your future as an adult. You have great role models.
I love your shots and editing at the thrift store! Very nice tour of your apartment especially the catching/releasing of your first visitor.
Advise from an old Grandma. Learn the difference between WANT and NEED. Good luck and have fun!
You can prepare your snacks! It is easy and not expensive, you know what you're eating
You’ll never know what size your apartment will be…I bought things for one that didn’t fit in next…just a heads up do dishes pots pans vacuum silverware glasses etc…things you need.
Just a couple things: There is also a filter inside the car (probably behind glove compartment) that filters the air from the outside for your heater/AC. Funny smells can come from that after a while; When shopping for initial set up, think need not want. It'll help in your budgeting;
Now is when life gets bouncy, like a yo-yo. Be prepared! lol
You are VERY fortunate in your upbringing.
I love watching your videos! I'm so sorry for the loss of Kenji!
Nevada it's good you have a father that shows you how to maintain your car. Nevada you are blessed. The video was great. God bless your channel.
Great video today! Love watching all that you are learning.
Good luck and have fun on your very first apartment Nevaeh!
So sad to have a beloved pet fur baby pass bit remember the good times and know they are with us even if they are not physically
Looking forward to video of you in your cap & gown attending your graduation.
If you have a dollar store near you, you can get dishware, silverware, bath needs and some food
y'all got enough wood in the backyard to make your own furniture. there's probably a make/paint your own pottery place around there somewhere, too.
It’s an exciting time, I remember my first apartment and the fun/anxiety of decorating on a budget. Enjoy every moment ❤
She lucky in the fact her parents won't kick her out if rent late or not paid...Not all are giving that safety net.
Make every day count Nevaeh, enjoy it.
My gosh GF food is so ridiculously expensive! I’m allergic to brown rice too which is limiting 🤷♀️
Quite frankly
There is a time and place for Jiffy Lube.
Why not learn how to change a flat tire?
Good luck Nevaeh!
Good job with the safety glasses!! You should note the mileage when you change the oil and check your owner's manual for the recommended interval to the next change, Car repair places note the mileage on a small label above your head on the windshield so you "can't miss it",
Is where any thrift stores in your area to buy things for the apartment?
I am surprised your dad waited till your nearly 18
To teach you how to change your oil. I started driving trucks and tractors when I was 13. Before I could drive any of them I had to learn all the basics of how to care for whatever I was driving. Good skills to learn. 😅
He showed me a few times when I was younger haha, i just needed a re-fresh😅
My first items came from yard sales, and a Walgreens dollar isle.... for baking, and cooking.
Walgreen's probably doesn't have that anymore, though, as I am 65 now. lol
You will do great, and these days go by so quickly! Enjoy them!
