I really hope that you will make some great videos rebuilding this beauty. I would love to see more. Congratulations on your purchase Mike and as we say in Ireland 'Well may she wear'.
Awesome old tugboat engine! Love it. I know there are so many other projects ongoing - but when its time comes to run again - I expect it will be a really great show!
would love to see that thing get rebuilt and painted and all that fun stuff ... would be cool for next summer to take to shows and best part is them motors have great power and can run for hours should make a stand on wheels for it with a little mini dash with volt meter temp meter and hour meter .. would be cool to see !
I love all the videos you guys put out. You guys are truly an inspiration, so much that I went out and bought me a little Hercules Economy Model JK to tinker with. Keep up the great work!
Glad Mike got to pick up a new toy! I bet there's a lot of good people at a meet like that and I'm sure the fellowship is just as good as the opportunity to see and possibly buy new 'projects.'
Nice!...and that flywheel is the key to that engine's job... that engine had to ultimately pull big heavy loads, and definitely needed a monster flywheel to keep the HP's revving. :-) It also reminded me of Harley-Davidson's very first motor-bike prototypes and how they hit the success button when they doubled the size of the flywheel, and came out with their 1903 Single :-)
I held my breath a few times while you were loading that! Cool find.. and I'm sure it will keep you guys busy! Toy Man and i got a kick out of this.. Wow!
Wow, that looks like a handful...but amazing none the less. I am not sure where it places on his priority list, but hopefully Mike will vid the work he does on it.
So much of this action going on in my area. I hope I can physically get my self back together enough to go to some of these meets soon. Maybe get a lil electric cart to wheel my carcass around.
Nice project ! RoadKing, would you ask Mike for me, where is the PTO on this engine, or let me put that anoter way, which end of the engine does to power take off come from ? This 2 stroke is going to be noisy, or is it ?
+Reg Sparkes Good question Reg!! It looks like the opposite side of the flywheel might have some sort of transmission on it!! Don't know about the noise, It will be interesting to find out!!☺
+805ROADKING Yes, this will be an interesting video to see. Hopefully Mike can get this recorded for us to see and hear . I'd like to know the horse power rating of this one, as well as what the RPM will be, etc.
the duch pepol still ues Semi Diesel Engine in ther boats still but when you youtube - Semi Diesel Engine - then you can under stand about them much more a Semi Diesel Engine is a bit funney engine to under stand till you reliyes what it is and how it works
I am working on researching Venn Severin, Would you happen to have the Model number and Serial Number for this engine that I could add to the registry of known Venn Severn Engines? Thank you
+Chris Jerue We don't have any information on it and there aren't any tags or numbers stamped in it!! If we find anything we'll contact you or if we have any questions about it!!☺
+805ROADKING Thank you, Would you happen to be able to get me the flywheel diameter and width measurements and the bore and stroke and I might be able to eventually find you the hp rating and information on it. Keep an eye out for serial numbers! Thank you
Sweet engine! Mike'll have it looking good and running in no time at all. What's he figure it dates back to the 20's or 30's? Y'know, if it's out of a tugboat it might be possible to trace which boat it was in.
If that point on the flywheel is the injection timing, this may actually be a hot bulb engine. The head certainly looks like that of a hot bulb engine.
Стояла у нас такая в городке - качала воду, резервная водокачка. Была бирка с этим названием и стояла дата 1943. Скорее всего ленд-лиз. Но 20 лет назад было наводнение, здание водокачки смыло а оборудование разобрали на металлолом...
This being a tugboat engine, I do not belive. Have a look at the base. It is a base that can stand flat on the ground. A ships main engine are built with a base of the kind that you need to put some planks under, when such an engineare mounted in a boat it can be placed far deeper in the hull, which also gives a better direction for the sjaft to the propeller. And a tugboat also want far more power than this little engine can give. Yes, compared to what are in a tug, this engine are little. If I should guess, I'll say round 20 Hp in ca 350 rpm
Magne Polden Yes, definitely not a tugboat engine. Diesel tugboats have HUGE engines with brute horsepower (think EMD V16 locomotive engine X2). Looks like an early 20th century coastal fishing boat engine. No matter the builder, they all look pretty much the same
I really hope that you will make some great videos rebuilding this beauty. I would love to see more. Congratulations on your purchase Mike and as we say in Ireland 'Well may she wear'.
Damn, that's one badass engine. I love the sound of a two-stroke diesel/hot bulb. Can't wait to see her running. Good luck!
Yep. Been waiting to see Mike's cool tug boat engine. Thanks Roadking.
Awesome old tugboat engine! Love it. I know there are so many other projects ongoing - but when its time comes to run again - I expect it will be a really great show!
i do believe that mike is the right person to get her back in shape. looking forward to seeing future progress
would love to see that thing get rebuilt and painted and all that fun stuff ... would be cool for next summer to take to shows and best part is them motors have great power and can run for hours should make a stand on wheels for it with a little mini dash with volt meter temp meter and hour meter .. would be cool to see !

+Bennie G Thanks Bud!! That's a great starter engine!!☺
The early bird catches the worm :) Looks like you guys had fun getting it on the trailer, and filming it :D
+creamofcardstv We always have fun!!☺
"does the video make my ass look big?" "YOU ALMOST HAD A FOOT UP IT" couldnt stop laughing haha,,
Glad Mike got to pick up a new toy! I bet there's a lot of good people at a meet like that and I'm sure the fellowship is just as good as the opportunity to see and possibly buy new 'projects.'
+jbmbanter Yeah that's why we always hit the shows early, catch up with old friends and get some deals!!☺
Nice score , all is needed now is an old tug boat to put it in. Thanks
I look forward to seeing this Venn - Severin oil engine beast running.
It's amazing the suspension on the trailer could handle that massive piece.
More late nights in Mike's Shop coming up on UA-cam.
Going to need three men and one strong boy to get that thing off Mike's trailer!
+GrandsonofKong Gettin it off is easy!! Mike has a nice Gantry and chain fall at home!!☺
Would love to see this running.
Huge weight on that trailer ! Mike will get it running .. Thumbs man !!
What a beast! Lookin' forward to updates!
cant wait to see that running
Nice!...and that flywheel is the key to that engine's job... that engine had to ultimately pull big heavy loads, and definitely needed a monster flywheel to keep the HP's revving. :-)
It also reminded me of Harley-Davidson's very first motor-bike prototypes and how they hit the success button when they doubled the size of the flywheel, and came out with their 1903 Single :-)
this is awesome, it would be cool to use it to power a workshop or something.
Man that thing has to weigh a ton !!!
Can't wait to see more of this beast :)
That will be wicked when he gets that running.
+skycarl Yeah Buddy!!☺
Good vid, when are you guys going to work on that radial project again?
Nice find and wish those swap meets on where I live.
I cant wait to hear that fire up!!
Mike can build his own "African Queen".
awesome roadking!!! that thing will sound bad ass!!!
Really enjoy seeing the old engines you guys pick up. Bet we'll get to hear it run some day too.
Now all you need is a tug boat-Not!! ;>)
97 phim Kirk Hispanic Hồng kong
That thing would have a heap of torque...I recon Mikes got the bug big time..Another rescued orphan..Great stuff..
+ZIGgassedUP Yeah, I think he's runnin' outta room at the orphanage!!☺
lucky 100th like, cool engine! 2stroke deisel? oh boy this build and start up will be interesting
I held my breath a few times while you were loading that! Cool find.. and I'm sure it will keep you guys busy! Toy Man and i got a kick out of this.. Wow!
+Karyn Felix-Angell I thought for sure it was gonna slide off of those forks!!☺
Mike'll have to make a airplane tug for that to go into! XD
Very cool! I can not wait to see it fire!
A serious engine there. Looks like an interesting project.
+retrorestore Yeah it should keep him busy for a while!!☺
Has Mike got this beast running? :)
way cool... can't wait to hear that baby sing
I like Mike's hoody. Looks like a lot of engines on it.
I wonder... if you guys light up ALL of your engines at once, would you breach some city sound ordnance or something?
Will Mike strip this engine down and repaint it or will he just get it running and leave the original patina? I think it looks great the way it is.
+Don Ross I'm sure he'll leave it as is!!☺
You guys always find some interesting engines!
+Mopardude Yeah Buddy!!☺
That's awesome Mike, nice find!
+RamblinAround He got a great deal on it too!!☺
Wow, that looks like a handful...but amazing none the less. I am not sure where it places on his priority list, but hopefully Mike will vid the work he does on it.
+yourbeekeeper Don't think he has much of a priority list!! He's got so much stuff to work on, I think it's just what he feels like at the time!!☺
So much of this action going on in my area. I hope I can physically get my self back together enough to go to some of these meets soon. Maybe get a lil electric cart to wheel my carcass around.
Interesting! Any interest in sharing how much something like that goes for?
Hope Mike puts the rebuild ect; on his channel or you fallow the progress on yours. I would really like to see it run !!
+Barton Robinson Mike doesn't make many videos anymore, but I'll try to document some of it!!☺
Thanks. It would be fun seeing it in rebirth. Looks like alot of work but rewarding too; Tell Mike Good Luck with it !!
Awesome score! 👍
Hope he made it home safely, alot of weight for that trailer.
I saw the round hood wheel horse tractor on the trailer and I think it's a 701 or a 702.
Nice project ! RoadKing, would you ask Mike for me, where is the PTO on this engine, or let me put that anoter way, which end of the engine does to power take off come from ?

Yes, this will be an interesting video to see. Hopefully Mike can get this recorded for us to see and hear . I'd like to know the horse power rating of this one, as well as what the RPM will be, etc.
Haha! You can see the look on his face through the whole video. He can't wait to get it home and apart.
+Rails & Rust Yeah ya could almost see the wheels spinnin' in his head!!☺
man i like those big puff puff engines
that exhaust side had some major scratches! bit seen weedeaters with worst, fire right up
is there a websight or list of those shows,
+mustie1 Here's a good source: www.smokstak.com/
+805ROADKING perfect, thanks so much,
Na, that's a machine...
Keep up the good works boys!!
When does the show start? 😂
I can't wait to see the go cart you put that in!
+DappieKS80 that might get it's own trailer!!☺
did he get this engine going , would love to see it
that tug boat engine is a Semi Diesel Engine
Are you sure? I don't see an external hot bulb. Could be electric preheating though.
the duch pepol still ues Semi Diesel Engine in ther boats still but when you youtube - Semi Diesel Engine - then you can under stand about them much more a Semi Diesel Engine is a bit funney engine to under stand till you reliyes what it is and how it works
I'd like to see you guys make a glass head with one of these bigger engine's.
Awesome find guys. I wish I saw that bad boy when I was at the show :)
+rw3dog It was probably in the parking lot by the time you got there!!☺
I am working on researching Venn Severin, Would you happen to have the Model number and Serial Number for this engine that I could add to the registry of known Venn Severn Engines? Thank you

Already started the resto on the tugboat engine?
Nah, not yet!!☺
805ROADKING
Did you fill it with oil to socket the rust ?
Time is a hard thing to find when you have two good hands 😬😬
Any update on this engine?
+crazyenginewiz Nah, we haven't even looked at it since we brought it home!!☺
If you decide to sell it let me know plz.
Sweet engine! Mike'll have it looking good and running in no time at all. What's he figure it dates back to the 20's or 30's? Y'know, if it's out of a tugboat it might be possible to trace which boat it was in.
+MISTERComaToes We tried to get some background on it but the guy that sold it didn't know anything!!☺
That heavy beast has to be maxing that trailer out. Any idea how much this engine weighs?
+chefdan87 We're just guessing it's about 1500-2000 lbs. The trailer axle is rated at 3000!! It made the 120 mile trip home without any problems!!☺
805ROADKING
That is awesome to hear. Winter is coming, have to stock up on indoor projects.
I want to see that thing run.
Stupid question of the day " is it heavy ?"
Lol !!
hey mike: is this between 8 and 10000 lbs? beautiful engine. On a light plant probably 70kw
cool tug boat motor...huge...always wanted a hit n miss...dont know why except there cool....
A lot of weight for a single axel trailer. Tires looked a little stressed.
How much were they selling that bolens husky chassie for
+Marin jean Provost Don't know Bud!!☺
+805ROADKING oh ok well thank you for the help you have givin me. I always enjoy your videos and look forward to new ones.
power a house with that thing! How much HP does that thing spit?
+Metal Muscle Don't know the HP yet!!☺
Nice buy Mike, gonna run good after you've been through it!
Are those 7.5 Merc outboards at 1.07 Mike's?
Good score
BP
+BP105 The outboard was owned by the guy that sold us the engine!! It was for sale but we didn't buy it!!☺
I always herd that those engines got passed down from ship to ship till the engine died
that chain looked a little small to lift that engine lol!
+StarPuss www.ToxicRedNeck.Com Lol!! I wasn't worried about the chain!! I thought for sure it was gonna slide off them forks when he tilted them!!☺
What horsepower is it?
+BUDDY LIGHT Don't know yet!!☺
805ROADKING
Please let us know when y'all find out?
How do you know $ wise what a "good deal" is?
When you pick something up for less than Scrap value, ya can never lose!!☺
That should be interesting.
Is it running yet ?
If not, why not ? ROFL!
Waiting in anticipation .... As always ..... Jim
cool stuff there!
Cannot wait to see the rotary Briggs and then this! But the Briggs first ;)
Did you get this engine running?
Nah, Haven't even looked at it yet!!☺
If that point on the flywheel is the injection timing, this may actually be a hot bulb engine. The head certainly looks like that of a hot bulb engine.
+Cameron Jenkins Yeah it probably is!!☺
It's a force-scavenged solid injection diesel engine.
If you don't mind me asking
Always something...................
Can't wait to see the vids on this. I'm assuming that's a diesel, right?
+januaryman169 Yeah Buddy!!☺
