If you understand what was going on with that Detroit Diesel 453, that is about the only way to stop a run-away in that type of engine. You could break the fuel line fittings, starving the engine of fuel, but I have heard of a run away engine having so much vacuum that it starts pulling crankcase oil keeping it running. Back when engines like these were popular mechanics always had a plug handy to shut off air to the blower/turbo or intake. 8V71/92's had a built in emergency flap above the blower you could use that closed up the intake but I have been told when used during a run-away, the 2 piece pistons have been torn in half because of the vacuum created when used.
you know, a lot of people just don't get it, i would go on road trips with uncle and help with small stuff i was 13 years old, i8 would listen to the motor and gears put you right to sleep not to forget the rocking,i'm getting sleepy just thinking about it, PEACE!
I used to watch the Hydros fly around Lake Washington on Seafair, with the Allison and Merlin V12 engines. I loved that sound of the engines bouncing across the water. Now that they are all turbine's it is just not the same.
Freud often "sized men up" before with a downward glance before looking them in the eye... he routinely confused casual, out of context observations with research, expounded on pure conjecture that could not either be tested or duplicated other than by asking the original subject the same questions and hoping he gave the same answer. He feared machines had an intimate craving for big cigars.... His car-phalus analogy came about because of his own "shortcomings" due to surgery....
Had 2 1050hp Detroit 2 stroke diesels in my boat awesome engines and the sound was to die for. Designed to run 24/7 - miss them !
Nice compilation!
I really love watching and hearing these big old engines, doubly so because I can imagine how environmentalists would react.🤣
I loved this!
