If the Boss is fun to fight I end up replaying it than it becomes easy. Sephiroth and Lingering Will are great examples.

Karol after gattuso in tales of Vesperia! Not that that was a 7 stager necessarily, but definitely a very solid 2 stages and "that thing didn't even put up a fight!"

    • @LucianCanad

I postulate that that may actually be healthy. Soulsborne games never got big on me for that exact reason. There comes a point when the satisfaction you get from beating that boss isn't enough to cover the amount of strife you went through to get there.

Seem, after the rage quit, as a younger dude I used to find not playing the game for weeks, or even months, meant that when I came back, I would somehow be BETTER - 13 year old me defeats a boss 12 year old me could never touch. And 18 year old me, going back and playing for nostalgia games I'd already beaten years ago, would find tough boss battles not at all tough.

Yep I either beat it in one evening, like with Hyperlight drifter where I still have one of my longest boss attempts ever against the Hanged Man, or have to go back to it after weeks. And for Devil May Cry it was more retrying once a month for three months with the last ones. And that guy with the giant scissors that I beat in three seconds as a normal enemy but with the boss I forgot I could wall jump so his attacks became basically unavoidable. In my defense tough excluding when you have to run from him in the corridor I had a pretty easy time with Phantom at least. I haven't tried Dark Souls yet but I fear it will be like DmC but worse

It makes me laugh when people say a certain boss is hard that I beat really easy now but had trouble the first time. I dont mean that disrespectful.
Its just funny when people say Bosses like Sephiroth ore Lingering Will are hard.

The stage 7 boss for me was in Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword. I finally made it to the last Gannondorf fight and got stuck for weeks. Eventually I just stopped and looked around before entering the fight again and realized there was still a warp back to sky loft so I could get the elixirs I needed. Went back into the fight after the resupply and beat it without taking a single hit. One of the most satisfying moments I have had.

The rage sulk is actually quite effective. There have been numerous times where I'm playing a game and I'm stuck on a really hard part, and I quit playing it for a couple weeks/months, come back to it later, and beat it in the first couple tries.

    • @Zero00wolfkiller

Then technically it wasn't a rage sulk. You only enter a rage sulk when you completely forget how to play the game.

Stages 3-5 were where I got stuck for about 3 days when I first played Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and first fought Thunderblight Ganon. I got so mad I actually looked online for tips on how to beat it, and it still took me three days to figure it out and actually get to stages 6 and 7. Then the optional stage 8: either telling people you finally beat this boss, or the mind-numbing emptiness that comes with a fight like this that takes something from you and never gives it back.

Yes! Another fantastic Friday Feature with Rob! This one is amazing! I absolutely love it. The bosses that were 7 stagers for me was the Soul of Cinder in Dark Souls 3. Ornstein and Smough in Dark Souls. The Moon Presence in Bloodborne. Lastly, Sephiroth in Kingdom Hearts 2.

For me, I definitely went through all this on my recent replay of Bloodborne when fighting the penultimate boss in the chalice dungeons. The giant werewolf that shoots stuff out of its back and sprouts a giant grub out of its head in phase 2.
The weird thing is that I don't remember having this much trouble with it when I first played the game. I'm positive that this boss was somehow overtuned in a later patch and never fixed. Not only does it have an insane amount of HP, it has several attacks that can one-shot you at 50 Vitality, which is just cruel.
Imo, it's by far the hardest boss in any "Souls" game.

The funny thing was for me is that Ornstein and Smough wasn't that hard... and even even beat them first try as I had basically level farmed. The bit before it with those archers was a pain in the backside... they were so accurate and fast it was bye bye me off the edge.

I watch and like PSA videos all the time but felt compelled to leave a message this time as this rang particularly true for me but it wasn't a boss battle. I racked my brain for a little while and realised it was a trophy... Brutality 101 on Batman Arkham Knight. After hammering the game for hours I realised I wasn't getting this trophy easily. I probably revisited the game twice a week between other games as it was potentially going to be one of my first platinum's and I WANTED IT! Then 364 days later at 00.14am... Let's just say both my girlfriend and 5 year old son ended up awake!! I know it wasn't a boss but the 7 stages were identical, just over a REALLY long period of time. I enjoyed the game, so much so that I immediately uninstalled it! A year is a really long time! Thanks very much Playstation Access, I love all your videos and remain a loyal subscriber, not only to the channel, but to you guys. Please keep up the excellent work! Username is maccrone if you want to check the coincidental date between first and last trophy!

Just experienced this yesterday with the Remnant Architect on the Voeld Outpost in Mass Effect Andromeda. Fortunately, I was able to avoid the rage quit and sleep on it phases but it still took a good two hours and several deaths. But I also couldn't feel the glory of stage 7 when I finally beat it; I wasn't elated, I was just EXHAUSTED. It took me a good chunk of those two hours to realize I had to muster the balls to get up close for its damn head to open up, and the fact that I had to mind the Level 2 Cold Hazard at the same time was excruciating. Ornstien and Smough, I encountered them before i discovered grinding. Rage quit for about 6 months... The started grinding over the same part of Dark Souls until the enemies stopped respawing and there was nothing left to do but face those two again. When I finally reached stage 7 I felt I had evolved into a new species of gamer and have since not been able to get enough of Souls games and bloodbourne... Tough bosses are now welcomed with a reminder of that memory. Bring it on I think!

  • @Starcat5
    @Starcat5 6 років тому +3

I can't remember the game, but there was a specific Stage 7 I remember on an emotional level. See, I didn't Rage Quit so much as Rage Continued for an hour. It was at that point that I realized that my skills had deteriorated in my anger, and I decided to get some sleep and try again in the morning. Here is where it gets weird. I have breakfast and try the boss again, only to beat him in the first go. And not a nail-biting first go, either. It felt so easy that "Elation" was replaced with a numb shock. *THIS* was the fight that had stonewalled me for x number of hours?
I bring this up for one specific reason: It was also one of the few times I went through all 7 stages, however mutated. Usually it hits the Rage Quit stage, and I put off coming back for so long that I have to start over just to figure out the controls again. This is followed by apprehension for whatever made me quit to begin with, only to realize that I was playing new content and I must have beaten the problem area without noticing.

Stage 7 after defeating Sephiroth in KH1 made me scream so loud I almost gave my grandmother a heart attack. I made sure to let her know I was just playing a game when the time came to beat Seph in KH2 haha.

Radec on the hardest mode on killzone 2 was definitely a tough one. I was stuck on the damn idiot for weeks. But yeah, the pure elation of finally beating him was so amazing, I felt satisfied and accomplished.

Your controllers break on stage 1? Your local game store must be out of stock by now.
