This 23.45 min long video would take 90 days in a classroom! Awesome tutorials! Love how you explain everything your doing in your tutorials! Thank you Michael Pavlovich!
Best sculpting tool not modelling. It's a pain in the ass to model something in Zbrush using Zmodeller, especially if it must be quite precise. You should always deal with polygroups as it even has no any selection tools except loops and some other automatic selections. As it has no separated modes for vertex, edge and polygon you often do you don't want to by mistake. Ctrl-Z is the main shortcut for Zmodeller.
@@aeko I know that certain amount of practice may turn you in a professional in any software. But what for if some other software exist and demand a way less practice to use it quick and efficient.
@@phat80 Well I've been a Modo user since version 103 which has one of the fastest workflows for modeling and I don't find the Zmodeler workflow slow, however I'm still examing it to see if it has everything I need. I will say that for what it DOES have, I find Zmodeler more enjoyable to use. If you are getting frustrated with mis-clicks, the Do Nothing option is available which removes any mis-clicks and actually makes changes very fast without any Undos. Also, using a mouse is a good idea which helps with accuracy.
When I was learning Zbrush I needed a tutorial on the basics of ZModeler and couldn't find anything good online until I encountered this video - the best video on the basics of ZModeler and frankly still is. Since then anyone who wanted to learn Zbrush and asked me where to find the best tutorials I always point them towards this channel.
This is one of the best tutorials I've stumbled across. I've only used zbrush for sculpting people and now I'm having to tackle making modular environment assets in zbrush this has been a God send. I know this video was made a long time ago, but thank you for making this!
This blew my mind multiple times in the video, coming from Cinema 4D. I didn't realize ZBrush had good tools for box modeling! Thank you for the video.
good lord, just got my bachelor's in computer animation and this was the best class i have taken in awhile, thanks so much for this Michael, you are a legend
One thing i hate about zmodeler.... there is soooo much things that is not easy to figure out. Sigh..... so MANY OPTION hahaha. But simple short tutorial like this really help a lot!!!! I thank you again.
the talking speed is good! keep it! like that! I actually like a lot your videos, excellent explanation to the point plus plenty of tips!, I started with your panel loops tutorial! love it!
Seems like for poly-group painting, the important thing to know is to always keep the left mouse down (or equivalent on your stylus) while you're using ALT, for anyone else getting stuck there. No idea how to do this grouping by mask/visibility. I hit invert and it doesn't swap what's visible, it just switches whatever is visible to being darker (apparently representing a mask) and back.
Your shared video is trully amazing and I am so lucky to be able to see your beautiful work through your channel. I believe that we share a similar goal to be achieved.
Insanely awesome video... It's surely the video that will make me upgrade from Core to the full Zbrush... Just to be sure, ca you normally sculpt the object after having "ZModelered" it ?
I need to practice all the tools. I learn better if I make objects like a house, spaceship or even a gun. I want to use Brush to make anything much like 3DS Max or Maya. Most tutorials out here on UA-cam has character design or architecture editing after importing from a program like Max. I sure would like to be good at building objects in Zbrush but I don't know where to go to find comprehensive non-character lessons on Zbrush.
You are fantastic! How on earth did you get to learn zbrush this well?! Also, I'm in Zbrush 2022 and I find any time I try to bridge two holes and THEN try to bend it on a spline, Zbrush crashes each and every time. Has anyone else encountered that bug?
Okay I tried it again and I realize now that it's because I had "double" turned on and could see both sides of the model. Turned it off and it worked fine.
I wish there was a complete series on zmodeler brush. I scoured the net even willing to pay a premium for a real course that focused on the hard surface part of zbrush... seems to be a niche, most stuff focuses on organic.
hello Michael. can I ask a question. we I use Qmesh to drag some poly out. it will generate some thick line on the edge which can not be smoothed by ctl D. how can i fix it.. thank you very much~
the very next video in this playlist (33 Subdivisions and Creasing) I think is what you're talking about ua-cam.com/play/PLkzopwqcFevbxxNfZtq1ae09h1dht4S6M.html
Unfriendly UI doesn't do it justice ...how much coffee did you have when you were making this tutorial bro? Wow youre machine-gunning words faster than Busta rymes 😂😂 😂😂
this is the first time i see Zmodeler it looks cool smart , and very practical , but i just started learning zbrush about 2 weeks i still prefer to make my base mesh model in another software im used to 3dsMax then sculpt it in Zbrush , if i want to learn zmodeler right now it will be too much knowledge and my brain can't handle it all xD
Because zbrush is in my experience slower when doing precision modeling. If you're working in precise measurements, I wouldn't use zbrush. If you doing basic sculpting and simple shapes through zmodeling, then zbrush can be fast - but I wouldn't say a whole lot faster depending on what you're trying to model.
I see all these Cubes but no tetrahedrons or equilateral triangles. How do I make a 1 inch triangle plane with a 12 degree bevel on the thickness? @MichaelPavlovich
I'll need to know the temperature and pressure variables to calculate something like that, and there may be an unacceptable dimensional accuracy in the final result. I don't want to be the cause of scrapping a shuttle launch, or worse, losing any souls on a botched takeoff.
very helpful video. Do you know how can use bevel, exlude, qmesh and all of that with keyboard shortcut? Or if you have some video to wtch about that. Thanks for sharing your knowledge . stay health and have a good day
you can clone a copy of the zmodeler brush set to whatever defaults you want and assign it to a hotkey, which will allow one hotkey to control a face/edge/point action all at once if you want, so even better! but I think for most, just developing the muscle-memory of where you most used functionality is ends up being enough
>___>;;;; ....... thanks man. nice.- I was under the impression you were doing this for a grade, but you got it done and its definitely a tutorial. Hard to understand it all at once though in one go. Nice, though. ty
the only reason i can imagine modelling in zbrush is so u can sculpt immediately without importing from a more convenient software like blender or 3ds max, but all the polygroup and hotkey really confuses the hell out of me .
with the polymesh 3d star, you should be able to go near the bottom of the tool menu, and you'll see an initialize submenu - in here you can click qcube and it should turn it into a cube
the "cc" button will tell you what i say in text, and of course you can control the speed in the gear icon to slow it down or speed it up. how cool is that!!
I'm trying to follow but every time I inset my faces it leaves a blank spot between the smaller shape and the main shape. As in nothing is there at all.
I'm not certain this is happening in your case, but some zmodeler actions will leave "gaps" if part of your mesh is hidden (bevel is notorious for this); try holding ctrl+shift and clicking in your document to unhide all of the polygons for your working model and see if that fixes it
When you select Inset, under Modifiers, make sure "Center and Border" are selected. What you're describing can happen if you accidentally selected "Center Only."
"We haven't gotten to the gizmo yet..." And, you didn't tell us how to. If I hit move, it wants to move the whole piece. Anyone tell me how to isolate that component? Simply masking out the rest doesn't seem to work.

It's amazing how Zbrush has the best modelling tools and the most unfriendly UI at the same time.

Love this tutorial! I'm a new user and didn't even know ZModeler existed 10/10 thank you.

I bet you paused and rewinded like 100000 times, cause of talk speed tho.
ill do you one better i have the speed on 1.5x XDDDD so i can learn faster
I purchased the 7 unit Training set. Worth every penny!!!!
God damn zmodeler is insane
thank you michael, these videos are fantastic, and you explain things much better than other creators I have tried to learn from.
Thank you! Wonderful tutorial. Zmodeler is not the most intuitive brush but it's so powerful. Subscribed!
Thank you! Your lessons are best!

Reverse visibility is not CTRL-I or the Inverse key, you need to SHFT-CTRL-CLICK and drag your cursover on the background

Modeling in zbrush is intuitive in the same way it's intuitive to use a flashlight as a car.
that must explain why there's only one polygon bender left!

brother,i ask? how to close polygon?
Edge Action - Close holes, or geometry - modify topology - close holes

oof, unfortunate naming of the program. no relation, ZModeler in this case is a modeling brush within the program ZBrush
this is gross so many menus to think about and i'm flying through to keep up. But still very useful

:D
it is not necessary because we have speed 0.75 and 0.5 in youtube playback speed ^^

I whink sometimes you go too quick
Settings/adjust speed/slow as you need
i will have to reduce the speed of you talking to 0.75 then you sound normal.
Woahhhhh haha, 100 miles per hour talking. Gotta rewind like 50 times.
You are süper teacher but as a foreigner it iş difficult to fallow you because of speaking too fast
heck, even locals have a hard time. Slow it down using the gear icon down at the bottom if it helps
