Love your website! I’ve done the first grill modification, 3” suspension lift, 17” rims to fit the larger of the Tundra brake upgrades and the Tacoma antenna. Thanks for all the great info. My rig has 308,000 miles on it and isn’t nearly as clean as yours. It’s my DD/Work truck. Love it!
Nice change/addition! This is the best grill mod on the T4R I’ve seen so far! I’m set to do a suspension lift on my Gen 3 just like you did previously. All the parts came in this week, $1000 in parts and now that you presented the grill mod I may take this challenge and run with it too! Great videos! Very appreciative! Blessings!! Ryan
Hex head bolts would work better. Apply heat to the head and melt an impression. JB weld would not hold with this job. Way to much wind and vibration would weaken the bond... Super glue the hex head bolt in after melting an impression.
I noticed some grills for sale on various websites say it's for 6cyl models and others say for 4cyl models. Either grill will fit no matter the engine size, right?
Not sure it was this one, I've owned it since 2003 and unless you stole the keys while I was asleep and brought it back without me knowing it wasn't mine LOL.
Nice build. Embedding your emblem mounting bolts with JB is a bit finicky. Since the emblem already has locating tabs on it, why not use a semi-permanent trim adhesive like 3M 03601 to bed the emblem?
It's help up great, but yes is tricky to implement. I've not found an adhesive strong enough. Since the grill is grate material, there's limited surface area for the adhesive to bond with. Putting a panel behind and using some industrial stuff like is used for windshields might work though.
Thanks for all the detail and being quite particular about the quality of your projects. The slight OCD is appreciated. Thumbs up, speedy.

Very helpful. I had this exact same idea for my 4Runner, and it's really cool to see someone has done it!
Not just someone literally thousands of people have done it lol
Wow. What a great look. Well done. Thanks for sharing.
I have been wanting to do this with my 87 runner. Thanks for the tips
Looks great, this will be my next to do on my list.

What size of bolts/nuts did you use to secure the mesh into the grille?
That was about 12 years ago and I don't remember but something small with a washer. Like 1/2 inch #10 or something.
What would the price be for a premade one? I know it's time consuming, I don't have the skills to do it though
Quite a bit unfortunately....email me if you wanna chat options.
Can I request this and buy this setup from you?
I'm VERY expensive.
@@SpeedysGarage name your PRICE
Measure center and... plop.
...would you consider making some and selling them?
Maybe, but it'd be expensive since it's SO time consuming.
Where did you get the headlights??
Made them. There's a vid in the Project Sport Runner play list.
Theres an easier way to take the grille of btw
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Anywhere to buy this ready to install?
I don't think so. My grill is entirely custom built.
