@@judethaddeus9856 they’re just much slower growing than my other plants so I think they’re less satisfying to me! I like plants that I need to water a lot and baby!
Bear paws are such a gateway plant. It was one of the first I ever bought and now I have an entire army of them. My husband is supportive but doesn't really give a damn about my plants EXCEPT for the bear paws. He checks on them almost daily 😂
i have a variegated one and when i repotted her last summer she hated me and dropped a lot of leaves so now i will never be repotting her ever again lol
I bought some yesterday at home depo when I went to get soil for my other succulent but I think they are so adorable and watching this helps me get a better perspective on how to care for them. I hope they don't die but I think I got all the right stuff so I should be okay
Oh my goodness, I used to have one years ago, and when the leaves became soft and squishy I thought I was giving it too much water so I stopped. The leaves started dropping one by one and I had no idea why, poor thing was begging me for water! Thank you so much for your video, I'm planning to get another bear paw so I was researching to care for it right this time.
I live in Alabama where it’s humid and 100 degrees in the summer so most of my houseplants just live in my covered patio well this one got morning dew on it and all the paws dropped so be careful not to get the paws wet or they will drop 🥴 I have put it back in the greenhouse and it’s doing great now!
yay! I’ve been wanting to see this video since when you posted that it was blooming 🌵 i actually bought a bear paw from a supermarket for only £3 !! it’s smaller than yours but such a bargain
So funny I just bought one from a local seller, and it turned out to also be variegated! Wonderful surprise, I hope it gets pretty big fingers crossed. 🤞
I just found a variegated bear paw at Lowe’s n immediately thought of you, I would love to send some to you but I’m not sure how it would do since I live in the U.S :(
My bear paw isn’t this big but it has the little browns tips that look like claws! It’s a cutting from my Mum’s plant and you’re right, just cut it, let it callous over and then pop it in soil and water well until roots form. Can’t wait until it’s this size 🥰
Went to Lowe's the day before looking for a Bear Paw and only found a Panda Paw (Bought it cuz it was so cute). Went to Home Depot yesterday and found several Bear Paws. Most of them were in terrible condition though. Luckily, one of them had a variegated portion. Super happy and hopefully I don't kill it. Crossing fingers.
I had kind of gone off succulents even though they are initially what got me into plants! However I love your bear paw and thought if I get any more I would get this guy. And by fluke out shopping in a local nursery I found baby variagated ones! So if course I grabbed one! They're so cute I'm delighted to have one 💚🐻
Ours are twinsies, mines blooming right now too! It was one of the first succulents I bought and is super easy to take care of not to mention hella adorable 😍
Great video. Just bought 2 little guys and they are doing well. Succulents are a challenge for me since I have a heavy watering hand. I have read some of the comments and am going to try to water them when they dry out. Being in a tiny pot means they do dry out in a few days. Do they grow fast? I’m watching this 8/23 so I suppose yours is huge? Have you attempted to propagate it yet? Enjoy watching your content. Thanks.
I ended up rehoming this one when I moved a couple of years ago. I find that these grow at a medium pace. Haven't attempted to propagate but I'd like to try to with my variegated one! Good luck with yours :)
I want one of these but I’m worried it will lose too many paws in the mail if I order one online, so hopefully in the new year it will show up at one of my local nurseries 🪴
I wish I wouldve found this video before my bear paw plant got all shrivelled...I think it's dead but i really hope somehow it will b ok ur videos r really cool btw
i found a variegated bear paw succulent at my local nursery today but they were so tiny and $25! i wanted it so bad but i just can’t justify spending that much. i hope i can find them somewhere else here in canada!
I thought I was the only one that refers to plants as he or she..and I just purchased him yesterday & I didn't know he was a succulent..I love succulents & I do well with them..☺️
Something that’s been baffling me for a while... I had a healthy bear paw but it’s leaves started falling off without me even touching it. All the leaves that fell were all perfectly healthy (no signs of underwatering, overwatering, or any sun damage). I’ve been growing succulents for a while so this was a shock to me. I watered it once every 3 weeks or when the soil dried out. It was also getting a good amount of light under a grow light. It also flowered, yet all of its leaves just dropped out of nowhere. It’s very weird, so I’m trying to figure out what happened. I had it for only around 3 months so maybe something happened to it at the store, where it was at before I bought it?
The same thing happened to me with an elephant bush plant, no apparent reason, just a lot of leaf loss. It's probably not anything you are doing wrong, but came with a problem that you're not able to see, just like some people are healthier than others.
I personally have this plant and found this very helpful. My plant doesn’t ever seem to get squishy so I never know when to water it 😭 it just sits for a month and then I water it out of concern but it doesn’t seem to be doing to well... any suggestions?

What should I do to make my bear paws grow more full with greater lateral growth? I've had mine for a few years and it tends to grow vertically and a little leggy. Should I add more light or maybe prune to promote lateral branching? Or is a little length between the nodes normal?
I’m usually not into succulents but this is SO CUTE. I wish I had enough light for him!
Right - I think he's what got me into them more!
