Been watching you guys for years and finally you get e9x M3. I have an e92 M3. Mine has been super reliable currently 120k miles. I know all the possible oil leaks and all possible need attention areas. Enjoy the glory the S65
Dont forget about the M button on the steering wheel of the M3. Basically a preset setting for the steering, throttle, and damper, also a MDM traction setting only turns on with that button.
What you guys should do is keep the m3 stock and do maintenance and get the civic up to the same $$ value and compare them, then keep adding $5k to both or something and see how they compare at each price point.
Civic already has bottom end motor swap. Realistically, the previous owner already ate up 10k+ of the difference in price. Plus, they're already planning on dropping/opening up the motor again. I'd say the $ value is closer than what they paid. Just because someone wholesales their time and effort for essentially zero, doesn't mean the car didn't have 20k put into it.
I really dig both purchases. We never got that type of civic here in the UK officially, but some have been imported over since. Speaking of the same era, the FN is/was popular this side of the pond in terms of standard models and the full fat Type R, so the interior looks familiar still. I'm excited to see more!

Fa5 civic owner here. I can tell you the mounts on that car probably in the high 90 durometer stiffness and up. You need 70a or 62a for a more compliment ride. I'm rocking 62a hasport and have no viberation yet the engine is held perfectly in place with no movement
Japanese cars often *feel* as fast as higher powered German cars because of significantly higher final drive ratios (which are effectively a torque multiplier) since Japan is densely populated and their cars are made to feel peppy stoplight to stoplight. German cars on the other hand often get lower final drive ratios, i.e. the extremely long Autobahn Gearing. As soon as track focus dominates the conversation, swapping the final drive ratio in the M3 to a higher ratio final drive, the difference will be very apparent.

Had a CTS V1, E90 M3 and an ISF. You are crazy. Aside from the engine being powerful down low, that car has nothing on either when it comes to cornering.
People have a tendency to use stiff engine mounts and those mounts are terrible. The tunning companies usually carry softer 'street' versions of the same mount. With that said, I believe that engine mounts should not be replaced with anything else than oem. *In general, replacing the transmission mount on FWD cars seem to be the right one to upgrade to poly-urethane 'street' stiffness as it is not directly bolted on to the engine.* It might wear the other engine mounts faster over time but I did not experience that on my car. I had a SVT Focus and I replaced the transmission/rear mount with an aftermarket 'street' mount (which is still poly-urethane and quite a bit stiffer than stock) and it was way better than the worn off oem one (and probably better than a stock new mounts). It did not increase NVH and was totally perfect for street use. It increased the fun factor and reduced driveline movement during shifts.
At one time if a BMW had a Dinan tune it would have a sticker in the front of the door jamb, not sure if that is still the case but you should certainly check
Well at least PT has managed to buy an actual sedan this time. The question is whether this one will be more trouble free than all his other BMW projects. Hope the Honda comes away with the W.

Can't wait to watch every episode of this! But I think a Cadillac CTS-V1 is better in every way.
Diff made of glass...
@@jon8336 easy fix. And the rest makes up for it
Had a CTS V1, E90 M3 and an ISF. You are crazy. Aside from the engine being powerful down low, that car has nothing on either when it comes to cornering.
Stock, no. Maybe a Gen 3 of ATS-V.
Cant wait for the FD build! Gonna be a sweet ripper at tmp
Excited for this build off, wish the Civic was closer to a stock example though.
All the stock examples had high mileage and rust. This one was kinda perfect since we wanted the FD2 conversion
@@speedacademy Definitely understand. Can't wait to see what you guys do!
FA5 Si 👍.... had an 06 and 11..... beat the living hell out of that car.... K20Z3 is a great motor
sport sedans for the win.
I like the direction you guys are going in 👍
Amazing series! Love the M3! Looking for civic build! thnx guys
I hope dave has budget for slicks, suspension and brakes, outhandling the bimmer is the only way the civic will be faster
At one time if a BMW had a Dinan tune it would have a sticker in the front of the door jamb, not sure if that is still the case but you should certainly check
The cheapest M3 E90 here in Germany is at 36 690 Eur/54.019 CAD/40.008 USD. It's crazy how cheap you got it
Well at least PT has managed to buy an actual sedan this time. The question is whether this one will be more trouble free than all his other BMW projects.
Hope the Honda comes away with the W.
The first new car I ever bought was a white ‘09 Si coupe. I wish I never sold it. Not the fastest or most luxurious but it was fun.
I love the two cars, but i choose Si because i like cars who can be a Project Car and the M3 E90 is ready! Or you can swap to MANUAL, then you have a amazing Project Car!
PT with his tongue out should’ve been the thumbnail😂😂😂. Love it boys can’t wait for the new series.
